Very interesting place, in the middle of nowhere. But you can feel the spiritual atmosphere there. It is short trip. Tour guide and people, working there are very very nice and friendly and of course with big smile on their faces. Different kind of Stonehenge. There is toilet, but not much shade.

Home to the tallest stone in The Gambia. Tour guide was really friendly and took us through the history. Visited in 2019 and did it again this year. Though it was hot but the trip was worth it.

Beautifully preserved place. We challenged the guide to give his tour in mandinka instead of English and it was amazing, it was a good experience. The place is complete with a museum and some exhibition of local musical instruments. Also, I thought all the circles were short but the “Kingstone” was a great sight, whooping 2.5m tall. D35 fee for Gambians 😊

Amazing historical site and UNESCO world heritage. I usually don't take a guide, but I really recommend doing so here. Guides know a lot about this place, much more that can be found on the internet. Generally African archeology is very underfunded and should be popularized more often. If you want to visit it to learn something it's definitely worth visiting. If you just want to take a selfie with a rock , you can skip it. Sand road leads there from the main road - it's about 10-15 min walk.

The UNESCO world heritage site seems to be a little forgotten and sleepy which may of course be due to COVID. If you are interested in these ancient kind of sites, the guides are really helpful and very friendly. We liked the surrounding area with the elephant grass very much (can only be witnessed during the rainy season).

Astounding place to experience. Learned about ancient African cultures who built those stones. You can get up close to the stones and there is no graffiti. The villagers take great care to respect them.

UNESCO heritage, entrance fee 100 GMD, road to the museum is in bad condition and difficult to find if you don't know the area, it's a sandy road on the right side before the immigration checkpoint (means you won't enter Wassu town, but turn right before).

Much better than Stonehenge in England. You can get up close and experience this great place.

Unfortunately I meet the place close so the tour guide could not take me around but I manage to take some pictures of the place.

UNESCO World heritage site - a must see! Very nice and helpful staff. Made it possible to visit even outside official opening hours. Interesting museum and relaxing huge toilets! Recommended!

it’s believed that kings and chiefs were buried among the 11 stone circles of wassu about 1200 years ago. these are the best examples of hundreds of similar such monuments found in the senegambia region of the gambia unesco world heritage site btw

It was really awesome to experience the world heritage site at first hand . The information was both educative and exposive to the facts. We have gained indepth knowledge behind the establishment of the stone circles and the myths attached .
