This sanctuary is a little jewel which, for some reason, doesn’t seem to be that well advertised. It may be that it relies on donations is the reason that it’s understated in excursion brochures and there is no benefit in organising trips for tourism companies? We went there to see how the animal lovers of Gambia are trying to improve the lives of their beasts of burden and frankly, it was an emotional visit and very uplifting. Take a taxi and see the impact Lazarus has had for yourselves; much better than any Monkey Park, long may it continue. We were not asked for any contribution but, animal lovers beware, you will want to donate. Fantastic work.

The Horse and Donkey Trust is doing some incredible work for the people and the animals of The Gambia. We had a wonderful tour from Miss, learned about the Trust's mission, and got to say hi to some adorable new friends.

They do an amazing job. Can not recommend enough. Rang up before hand to ask about visiting. The manager was so friendly and the animals loved him. Sad but happy to see animals getting help with injuries. Without there help the animals would have suffered terribly and died. After seeing I plan on helping online.

The work these amazing people do on a daily basis is nothing short of amazing. I would recommend anyone holidaying in The Gambia should visit GHDT and donate as much as is comfortably affordable. 👣
