This place left me feeling heartbroken. The elephants are chained up in the heat, waiting for the next tourist. They look so unhappy. The Mahout constantly shouted at them, which was awful. The elephants clearly didn't like the Mahout. My experience here was one of sadness. They even posed for photographs on command, which again, was upsetting. I refused to ride and bathe. They are not toys. They are rescued and should be living in peace with freedom. But this is not the case here. This is no sanctuary. I will never unsee what I saw here :-(

Don't buy the most expensive ticket, the cheapest one is enough. We enjoyed to massage the elephant in the river rather than riding.

I've been here a few times. Twenty years ago my wife stubbornly insisted to ride the tuscker here who carried the sacred relic at the nearby temple in Kandy. She was the first female to do so. So, it was a sad surprise to see that noble beast memorialized here. Though he is being treated with an appropriate degree of reverence here that is properly instructive of the relationships the animals and people of Sri Lanka have. I don't know how unique an experience this elephant riding experience is from others in Sri Lanka but few horse trails give you the opportunity to bathe and play with your mount the way you do here. I believe any close interaction you have with an elephant may awaken a higher degree of respect for the intellect and character these creatures have. Come here if you want to see that demonstrated as clearly as the love the Sri Lankans have for Elephants.

Chained, beaten, terrified, abused. Someone needs to fine these people, shut the place down and rehome this poor elephants to a sanctuary where they will be cared for and not tortured.

My fiancee had his heart set on riding and petting an elephant. According to the locals, these elephants came from the elephant orphanage and cannot be reintroduced into the wild. It seems like they have a half-dozen elephants that walk a track. For about $25/person, an elephant will pick you up and walk you into a stream. They lay down and you give them a scrub. Then the elephant will splash you of you like. The whole time, a guy is taking pictures. Then you get to give the elephant some fruit. Prepare to get wet!!!

They had 3 elephants and they cared well about them. We paid 5000rs (2.Pers.) after negotiations with our driver as we just wanted to watch the elephants and no riding. Photos, washing and feeding is available for extra tip. What we liked is that there was no rush we where able to spend as much time as we like there.

Couple of elephants here, however you can come close and touch them. Riding on elephant is about 2000 rupies per person, three times cheaper that in official places. You can make a photo anytime you like, and enjoy feeding animals.

We came here on a Kandy city tour and I wish we hadn’t. Firstly the elephant ride / bath was incredibly overpriced - the whole thing lasted approx 20 mins and we moved a very short distance to a pool of dirty water where we threw water on the elephant. This cost us 4000 lkr each, plus an enforced tip for the guys with us. Secondly, and more importantly, the elephant looked exhausted and was constantly doing these trips back and forth. There was a second elephant there chained to a post and couldn’t move. No space for them to roam around, and it was really sad to see. I would avoid this place and don’t be fooled into going there on a tour!

Animal abuse. It doesn’t look like a village, it looks like a dirty dump with poor elephants instantly working on greedy tourists. I wouldn’t sponsor such activities anymore. People buying the tickets to ride the animals - you’re disgusting, sorry.

Riding an elephant has its unique feeling, it gave me a sensation of power. But I can't give it 5 stars because of the animal abuse.

This is animal abuse!!! Elephants should be free and if you want to see them go to a national park to see them in the natural habitat. Please do not support places like this, elephants should be free!

(Translated by Google) Overall ok. You can ride an elephant. Some consider it all cruel, but I did not see any mockery of animals, but I enjoyed the walk. (Original) В целом нормально. Можно проехаться на слоне. Некоторые считают все это жестоким, но никаких издевательств над животными я не видела, зато получила удовольствие от прогулки.

(Translated by Google) You can touch elephants, feed them with bananas. It’s a pity to ride them. They are standing there, so miserable, sad, on a chain. This is an incredible feeling when you stand next to him, an elephant .... I will always remember this (Original) Можно трогать слонов, кормить их бананами. Ездить на них жалко очень. Они стоит там, такие несчастные, грустные, на цепи. Это невероятное чувство, когда ты стоишь рядом с ним, слоном.... всегда буду помнить об этом

(Translated by Google) One of the best places to ride elephants, because in others it's very bad. There are beautiful views, there is a river. The big disadvantage is that the drivers are brazenly begging, pulling on the leg while you are sitting on the elephant and asking for money, except for those that you have already paid.

Really bad experience, leave as far as you can from this place. The elephant was forced to go in the water, forced to walk, forced to do the shower, only a tourist activity and no caring. It’s not natural to pet this sad elephant and to take pictures like you are enjoying the moment. Only for social media picture, cause I swear that is the saddest moment I lived in Sri Lanka.
