The waterfall lies around 30 minutes away from the galboda railway station. But the scenic beauty will keep you accompanied so would probably take more time to go. There are two visiting spots next to the waterfall. But the view from the hanging bridge is the most wonderful.. it is a sight to behold.also do not forget to bring an umbrella if you are visiting during the rainy season and also be aware of leeches..there is plenty of them πŸ˜…. If you are going to take the train back to Kandy or to Badulla , make sure you check the time schedule for train well and manage accordingly, also do not forget to show some love to the kids selling fruits enroute the waterfall..

Incredibly beautiful place to visit in Sri Lanka. It's a very good location for one day trip. Hike is not difficult. Only take around 45 minutes from Galboda Railway station to waterfall.

A place that's definitely worth the trip! There were spectacular views all over the journey starting from the point where we stepped down from the train until we reached the waterfall. There's close access to the waterfall and it's safe to bath in the premises. You can bring lunch and find a spot to eat there as well.

Galboda Ella, is a beautiful waterfall located in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is about 20 kilometers from Nawalapitiya and 80 kilometers from Kandy. The waterfall is about 30 meters high and cascades down a rocky cliff into a pool of clear water. There is a small entrance fee to visit Galboda waterfall. (Rs.100 for adults) The walk to the waterfall is about 20-30 minutes from the entrance. The path is well-maintained and easy to follow. There are a few benches along the way where you can stop and rest. Galboda waterfall is a popular tourist destination, so it can get crowded on weekends. If you want to avoid the crowds, try to visit during the week.🏞

No words to say. It's only a 2 km walk. But the experience is far better than that. To reach the waterfall, you pass tree canopies, mountain views, river stream walks, etc.. Just drop from Galboda railway station and walk to this miracle and witness the beauty of the environment. They take an entrance ticket. Price like 100 rupees for local adults. You can have a swim with a bath. Bit dangerous during rainy days as the stream is fast. If not, there are well covered places for having a bath.

"Galboda Falls" is a beautiful eyecatching waterfall located in Galboda Village, Nuwara eliya district. The waterfall is originated by "Haguran oya". Its around 30 m high, and the width ranges from between 3 to 6 m. It is 2 km away from the railway station so traveling by train is the easiest and the ideal way to see the beauty of this wonderful waterfall. You have to get down from the Galboda Station and come few steps back along the railway track around 100 m to start the trial. The hike is around 30 minutes and it's a journey full of mesmerizing sceneries. If you are lucky, you can see the train coming through a tunnel at the View point situated along the hiking path. You have to buy a ticket to visit this waterfall. It was Rs. 50/= but it has increased to Rs. 100/= since January 2023. Also please be aware from leaches because there are plenty of them. Hanging suspension bridge, Green tunnel path (Mangrove trees) and the shining clean water droplets enhance the attractiveness of the journey. Due to its recent surge in popularity, the waterfall has become a major attraction for both local and international visitors. In the surrounding area, numerous distinctive plant and reptile species that are indigenous to Sri Lanka have been found. Please be civilized enough to take your own junk with yourself because there were piles of polythene and plastics around.

A beautiful considerably broad waterfall that originates from Hanguran oya. If you are travelling via train ,get off at galboda station and ask for the route from the station itself. The trial towards the waterfall also shares great views of tea plantations and surrounding hills.

On the Nawalapitiya-Hatton railway line, the Galboda estate has the stunning Galboda Falls. It is around 30 meters high and created by the Hanguran Oya. The waterfall draws a lot of local and international tourists as a result of its recent popularity. The Central Wet Zone includes the area where this waterfall is found. The driest months are January and February, when 60% of the rain falls during the southwest monsoon. Galboda Waterfall is 30 meters high. In the vicinity of the waterfall, a variety of unique plant and reptile species that are native to Sri Lanka have been discovered. Rail travel is the most convenient and ideal way to see this waterfall. This waterfall is roughly a 1-and-a-half-mile walk away.

An attractive waterfall with a heavy waterflow. Mind your step since rocks are very slippery.

Galboda waterfall is so amazing πŸ‘ 😍 In my opinion, it is a gift from our mother nature ❀️ 😊 So we need to protect this. Nevertheless, some people are so disgraceful πŸ˜ͺ They put their trash everywhere πŸ˜’ If u visit one of these grateful places, protect it, and don't even think to destroy it. Enjoy within your limits πŸ˜‰ Route, is u need to go to galboda Station after that follows the railway πŸ›€ 200m or 150m then there is a board named in Galboda waterfall. That's the direction you need to go. Nearly 2 km should walk. Finally, u can see the gift from our mother nature...... Enjoy πŸ˜‰ but don't destroy it ....

The Galboda Ella Fall (aka Galaboda Ella Falls) originates from the Galboda Canal (also known as the Hanguranketha River), in the Central Province wet zone. Annual rainfall here exceeds 4500mm, 60% of the rain coming from the south-west monsoon (dry season is January to February). Watawala, the area of Sri Lanka that receives the highest amount of rainfall on the island, is nearby. Galboda Falls is 30m high but the width ranges from between 3m and 6m, depending on the season. At certain times of year, the water also cascades in two streams. Growing in the surrounding woodland is a rare species of orchid and the vicinity is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Among them are 12 species of reptile and four are only found in Sri Lanka. The upper section of the fall is unique in its biodiversity, thus it is of paramount importance to limit any potential danger to the area. In 1869, following the construction of the Nawalapitiya – Hatton railway, agriculture (tea and coffee plantations) proliferated, causing erosion. Fortunately, the jungle either side of the river has prevented the soil being washed away by the water. The name of the fall, (Galboda means β€˜fall adjoining the stone’) is said to derive from the large boulder situated at its foot, though another theory is that the water here is heavier than anywhere else on the island. A temple to the deity Mahasamy, one of seven deities collectively known as Devol who came to the hill country, stands on the mountain above the fall. Mahasamy is the only one of the seven who remained in the hill country. The fall is located on Hatton rail track in an abandoned but picturesque tea estate adjacent to Galboda station, Nawalapitiya, Nuwara Eliya District (920m above sea level). Taking the train is therefore very convenient. It is also possible to take the Nawalapitiya – Dekinda road but this is a difficult route. Hatton is the closest town.

Don't follow the google map suggestions. It shows route through Rosella railway station. It's a Narrow road and cannot be reached a even motorcycle. End of the road we could see just a power station only. But surrounding road is amazing Fantastic view on besides the way. If you are hoping to visit galboda waterfall, best way is through Galboda railway station. Walk on the railway path 2km. (For more info check YouTube videos)
