Our tour operator in France 'Comptoir des Voyages' made a booking for us in this place for a walk in the jungle on a Saturday morning during our holidays in Sri-Lanka. We met the the owner Freya and Remon who are two lovely people, they are very nice. The team in that place is wonderful too. We had a look around and it seems to be the perfect place to have the best relaxing time. They do yoga classes too. Next time we go back to this country we'll go there for sure and stay longer. And even though we didn't book a cooking class with them, they still let us do it so we've had the chance to have that experience and it was an amazing thing to do. The food was extraordinary. Freya and Remon we wish you the best for your future and we hope to see you again. Matthieu and Saoussan

Thanks to all the staff for a beautiful stay. Great just to be in nature, have many activities available but also take time to recharge after being in a big city. Charles is so great and helpful, also an amazing cook (took a cooking class which was so good). The place is eco conscious, one drawback is that on a gloomy day got water might be an issue as its solar energy based. On a plus side, there are plenty of nature activities and around local communities. You can visit the docs store nearby which is also great

Remote location in the jungle. Family owned with a great focus on sustainability. I stayed for a 4 day yoga retreat (booked via bookyogaretreats) and really enjoyed my time, even though we had two days of very strong rain. The yoga sessions with Freya are very good, the food is plenty and delicious, and everyone is so nice. Make sure to visit the spice farm and the sustainable clothing shop too. Only drawback: rooms very quite noisy (especially with rain and wind) and beds/cushion very hard. But this didn’t make my experience less good. Hope to come again some day!

If you're looking for a true unique place to relax, do some yoga, be close to nature, be surrounded by lovely people, and learn a lot about the jungle preservation, organic farming and Sri Lanka in general this is the place to be! From the moment we arrived, Remon, his family and team created an atmosphere of warmth and hospitality. The lodge houses seamlessly blended with the jungle surroundings and were all very private away from other houses. Simple yet spacious and clean, with hot water showers powered by solar! The balconies were spacious and wonderful to just sit and read on! We spotted a group of 7-8 monkeys jumping around in the trees right in front of us one morning. Each meal we had was full of flavours with a lot of the food being from local farmers and in the region. They always asked us what we preferred as there were options between Sri Lankan and more western foods. We didn't do the cooking classes but we witnessed some of it from other guests and it looked like so much fun learning the traditional ways of cooking over firewood. The yoga sessions were just great and well balanced. Their shala is like no other surrounded by trees and sounds of nature. If you're not in the actual yoga retreats you could still join the yoga classes every morning or late afternoons. One aspect that truly stood out was the hosts' dedication to forest preservation. We got to help to plant trees and they taught us about the importance of conservation and the role of the local community in sustaining the ecosystem. We learned so much about the different herbs and spices they cultivated in their own, little spice factory which I highly recommend you visit. The hosts' commitment to environmental sustainability was truly inspiring and one of the aspects making this place unique. We also did one of their hikes which ended up in at a beautiful and swimmable waterfall. This hike was about 3 hours but very simple and our guide taught us so much about various plants, trees and crops we saw on the way. Highly recommend this hike! Originally planning to stay for just three days, we couldn't resist extending and ending up there for 10 days. Now we have memories for a lifetime. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

We stayed here for a 4-day yoga retreat. I would give 10 stars if I could! The whole team is warm and welcoming! We slept in a cute and comfortable wooden lodge overlooking Lake Victoria. Everything was clean and comfortable. The food is delicious! And we were taught the most delicious meals in an interactive cooking class. Thanks for the recipe book :) The hike to a nearby waterfall was topped off by a refreshing swim. Along the way, we learned a lot about the surroundings from our knowledgable guide! The visit to the spice factory, organic garden and reforestation areas were very grounding and showed that nature can be treated well! It really is a beautiful place! Thanks for sharing with us :) In the evenings the staff enjoy teaching the game of Carrom and laughing about our skills :D A special thanks to our yoga teacher! The yoga was a nice balance between refreshing in the morning and relaxing in the evening. It even got me interested in yin yoga, which seems to be the perfect balance for a fast-paced city life and it fits perfectly with this beautiful place :)

Away from the hustle and noise of Kandy is this incredible eco-lodge in the middle of the amazing jungle that my partner and I were lucky to spend two nights at! Surrounded by lush trees, fascinating wildlife and run by the most beautiful Sri Lankan family, Polwaththa embodies everything I look for when travelling ethically. They support local families- especially women- through employment, they care for the environment by supporting reforestation and fighting for land to remain diverse and untouched, they use solar to heat the water used in their showers and they highlight the beauty of the Sri Lankan culture with their cooking classes, spice shop and so much more! We immediately felt like family and it was a shame we only got to stay for two nights! The yoga classes, led by Freya, that we did each morning, were so special and set us up perfectly for the day ahead. Food was delicious and homemade and every effort was made to ensure we enjoyed our time here! Rooms were incredibly spacious with big balconies surround by nature, you felt as if you were the only people in the jungle. Very private and special! I could go on, but instead will just say to make sure you stay at this one-of-a-kind accommodation if given the chance! We can’t wait to return x

Fabulous place hidden in the jungle - beautifully surrounded by nature. With lovely staff who made my stay amazing! I stayed here for a 4days/3nights yoga retreat, fantastic experience. The room was very clean, quiet and had everything I needed, great shower, bed and moskito net (even though there almost no moskito’s here!). The temperature is lovely not hot as you are surrounded by trees and greenery (which provide shade). Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all provided and included in the package, they asked for our preferences every morning and it was all very fresh and delicious. On the first day we did a jungle walk and waterfall visit, we did not see any other tourists on the way (only people from the local village) and the guide was very well known with the spices, plants and trees that grow in this area. Lovely hike! The second we had a great cooking class, with delicious food. The yoga shala was a hidden gem, its a short walk up in the jungle and has a beautiful view of the lake in the valley down below. Classes were great 😊 If you are looking for a nice, comfortable place in the jungle and quiet hide-away, look no further! The nature sounds are priceless and I have seen more animals in these 3 days than the last few weeks of travelling in Sri Lanka, there are monkeys, wild boars, squirrels, birds..all at your doorstep :)

We had a perfect stay at Eco Lodges. We came for a Yoga retreat and it was just wonderful. We were beginners and Freya our teacher was wonderful. She was really great for people like us as well as for advanced yogis. The food was as well very good. Great Sri Lankan dishes. The staff speaks very English and is always paying attention that everything is going well. Really a place to recommend if you want to spend a few days outside the overwhelming Kandy.

Did the 4 day yoga retreat and totally loved it! The place is very nice. The lodges are basic, but ok if you know what to expect. The food was super yummy. The yoga teacher is super nice and the classes I enjoyed a lot! And most important all of the people that I met there, the staff and the other yogis were super nice and friendly! Definitely recommend this place!

Great place to go, also during the not so easy time at the moment, we just finished our 4 day yoga retreat and it was really nice. You are really close to nature, you see a lot of animals and the food was just tasty every day. We can really recommend staying here with Remon, his family and the staff, they made every day special with different activities like a jungle trek, cooking class and a visit to their spice factory. The yoga with Rogen was great as well, we loved the sessions and the shala, and in the small groups it was possible for him to respond to individual needs. It’s definitely worth a visit, also when you haven’t planned a trip to Kandy.

We arrived for joga retreat and each of the second spent here was so wonderful. For me it was the first time i totally enjoyed joga class with no thoughts. Especially thanks to our joga teacher Freya with so friendly welcome, for her unbelievable joga class and her personality. This is one of the most beautiful ballanced place - with Nice people, beautiful countryside, amazing jungle sounds and incredible Food. If i will have a chance to come back to Sri Lanka - Polwaththa Eco Lodges will be my stop for sure.

Perfect place to relax. I stayed for a week and loved the sense of community and various eco projects and jungle activities we partook in. I highly recommend for anyone searching for connection to local community and a little peace and quiet.

We stayed a full week. it was the perfect place to relax, to ground, to be in touch with nature. We practiced yoga, went hiking, but the real jewel for me was the sense of community. thank you all!

Easy to locate with google map though difficult to travel from Digana to reach the lodges as the road was horrible. Rooms at the lodges were clean with good service though not air conditioned. Wi-Fi was free and mobile phone coverage was good. Need to climb the hill and careless walk can lead to leech attack. I went for birding and it was a good place to see some local and endemic birds. Late April is not the time to expect migrant birds. There were giant squirrels, deers, monkeys and some endemic lizards and tree frogs. The bird guide was quite knowledgeable about the birds and very helpful. Food was alright and prices are not too high. A great deal for nature lovers.

We opted for the 4-day yoga retreat and had the most amazing experience. The hosts were fantastic - super well-organised and helpful at all times. The yoga itself was amazing (Freya is a really wonderful instructor) and the food was incredible. All set in the most beautiful location. We’d be back in a heartbeat.

What an amazing start of my travels in Sri Lanka. The location is in the Middle of the jungle and you are surrounded by lovely sounds and smells. Staff is incredibly sweet and they do everything to make your stay unforgettable. Yoga was lovely for all levels and great hiking to the waterfall. Cookingclass superb. I would recommend 100% to stay here.

We had a great couple of nights here. The rooms are basic but comfortable and have everything you need to keep warm during the nights when it can get a bit chilly. We loved hanging out in the comfy chill area with great views. The guide and botany lesson / Village walk was fun and all the staff were really friendly and helpful. Prepare for a bumpy jeep ride on the way up and down!

We came for the yoga retreat and loved every second of our stay. The huts are laid out individually across the wide spread property so you enjoy the jungle with all the nature sounds around it. The yoga sessions were great, Freya is a fantastic teacher and facilitator. Also offered as part of the retreat was a cooking class which was so much fun and we had amazing food. Same for the hike to the waterfall nearby with an extra educational part for the local trees and plants in the area. Big thanks to the entire team of Polwaththa. You made our stay in Sri Lanka so much more special.

I had an amazing time in this beautiful green place! I came just for the yoga retreat, but polwaththa eco lodges offers so much more which made this experience even better. Remon, his parents and all the staff are the nicest. I would definitely recommend coming here :)

Polwaththa This yoga retreat was truly an amazing experience. It is held in the jungle outside of Digana which is near Kandy. It is very much a nature preserve and a eco-experience, with twice daily yoga, incredible and delicious - and ridiculously plentiful! - food, a beautiful trek to a waterfall through the jungle, learning about jackfruit, nutmeg, birds and deer, the option to plant a tree to help with reforestation, a visit to a small shop employing local women to purchase locally grown spices and handmade clothes, bags and more made by locals and so much more! Freya is a wonderful yoga teacher and her voice is beautiful to listen to as she calls out and instructs the yoga moves. How fun to do yoga in the jungle with monkeys just 10 m away from us as we stretched high above Lake Victoria on a beautiful wooden platform. It’s not a luxurious place - instead, it’s a place with heart and soul in the midst of the jungle. I highly recommend it!

This is an amazing place for a retreat or even just a few days stay to rest and reset your mind. I joined the yoga retreat for 2 of the 3 days and I loved every experience. There is a dedicated team of wonderful people who are really attentive to the requests of guests. The yoga teacher was a wealth of information and experience, which she was happy to share at meal times with the group. The owners, Nell and Nihal, are warm, funny, generous and really put everything into the projects they run on site. If you teach English, you may even have the chance to teach the local village children who come long distances to learn when the classes are available. I would 100% recommend a stay here to revive your soul.
