🫤 This is an overrated place. We visited there to find the shop shut. Neighboring shop opened it for us. Collection is really nice and good quality but pricing is exorbitant. People often mention shop, time, batik,

Was hard to find. But CJ is a great guy and a super salesman. Good stuff to buy. We loved it.

Took a lot of effort to find the place but found it closed before it's closing time. On reaching the shop we learnt that we had to call before coming. Was a bit disappointed with it but better luck next time.

Amazing batik and original design The owner was nice and you can tell that he is very proud of every piece of his art work. I have been to different places that produce batik, but the design in Jayamali is unique and original. There is a combination of traditional and modern batik design! They also come in all sizes, so don’t be shy to ask! Personally, I think the prices are reasonable as every piece of them is true art work! The owner also told us that there are scammers working in the market that will mislead you telling you that the studio is closed! So if you are interested, make sure to visit the shop and check it out yourself!

Jayamali is a great artist, who learned the art of batik from his father. The batiks are amazing, even if they are quite expensive. He will really take his time to show you his work and explain you his family history. He is also a fervent Buddhist and we had a nice discussion about this incredible religion. Take your time to go there if you want to experience something new and interesting.. 🙏🏻

Incredible works of art at this small shop in the Kandy Central Market! Just stunningly beautiful pieces. Learned some very helpful and insightful things about Buddhism from the owner who is so well spoken and knowledgeable. I thank him for his time and care.

Gorgeous batik but extremely overpriced. Prices are high and marked in USD. We left pretty much as soon as we saw the prices. You are much better off buying straight from local artists to support them.

Very unique Batik shop. I was really impressed by the craftsmanship of these batiks art pieces as well as the clothing. These pieces are priced reasonable compared to similar batik factory and hand made unique designs. Very kind people who create and run this shop

Visited the store in Dec 2021. The shop was closed but it had a number and i called CJ and he showed up in half hour. CJ walked us through the process of Batik making and showed us his collection. The proce might be little high but it is worth every bit of it as you can clearly see the quality in the product made at Jayamali. I purchased 3 of them only to come back and purchase one more! Highly recommend visiting the shop if you are in Kandy.
