Blue Beach Island is situated in Nilawela in Sri Lanka. This is kind of a private island that gives great views of the ocean. This is a traveler’s dream destination and everyone’s not to miss a spot. Blue Beach Island is situated in the Southern Province in Sri Lanka. The reason behind getting the name Blue Beach Island is that this island is stunning surrounded by the blue beach. It is connected by only a small dune but on rainy days it could be covered in seawater. This is not a public property though. At Blue Beach Island you can go on snorkeling, swimming, and rest for the day. This is private property and the owner has started to rent out the space for tourists. But you have to buy their package which needs to have a minimum of 8 people. It has a very affordable price and if you have less than 8 people you still have to pay for 8 people. The maximum they allow is 18 people.

The secluded island in Nilwella, Matara, offers a pristine escape amidst the azure sea. Accessible via a sandy avenue, it occasionally succumbs to high tides. This hidden gem invites adventure seekers for camping and snorkeling, providing respite from the daily grind and a chance to revel in the unseen natural wonders.

Best secure place for some beach side camping. There are many camping spots available inside the island. This is a privately owned island. The owner requested us no to leave the camp site between 7 pm and 5 am as it might disturb the other campers. We can book camps and bonfire logs from them before going. The whole island is clean. There are safe locations for bathing and snorkelling in the sea around the island. Some part of the sea is with sea urchins. So it is not advisable to go into the sea in unknown locations.

Blue Beach Island is an island connected to the mainland by a small sandbar in Dickwella town. This is an ideal spot for beach camping and as it is a private island, a permit is required. In some seasons the sea is very rough and if you intend to swim, consult the people around you and choose a suitable place for swimming. You can get firewood and other materials you need for camping in town or from shops along the way. Never cut trees inside the island.Water and other sanitation facilities can be provided from the island custodian's house. This area is a fishing village so you may get hassled by drug and drug users.. be careful about that.. but most of the people are peaceful and friendly. Please don't pollute the land.. Bring back whatever you carry.

Blue beach island is a private property. But you can go there to visit without any permission. But if you want to camp in this island you have to get permission from owners. The island and the surrounding beach are very attractive. But it not much good beach for enjoy, because there are stone. It is more photogenic area. You will able to have a unforgettable experience when you camp in this island overnight.

A glamorous beach in the souther coast and sea waves are connecting each other. Good place for sea bathing and we can walk through the island. It is very gorgeous and rocks around the island and the view of the sea is elegant. We can see Ikiriya sea animal at one side of the island who is very harmful.

Blue Beach Island is a beach camping spot in Nilwella, near Dikwella. It is a private island giving amazing views of the sunset in southern Sri Lanka. Many love to camp in the cozy tents here surrounding a blazing campfire. It gives a very unique type of camping experience with the sound of the waves crashing against the shoreline. Unique experience at Blue Beach Island The experience at Blue Beach Island includes camping at night and snorkeling at sunrise. It is a recent addition to beach and camping adventures in Sri Lanka. It is an isolated island about 50 m away from the mainland which makes it a more secluded area ideal for camping. Camping here also includes a chance to indulge in some amazing seafood dishes, barbecue and various other delicacies.

My favourite place in Sri Lanka so far. The most amazing views and energy on the top of the rock, at the end of island. Just stunning. I spent a night camping there too and it was absolutely breathtaking. I can't wait to go back!

This island (more technically a tombolo) is a private property and could hear from someone that this is in the market for around 5 million USD. Even-though you can visit this island in the daytime for free, to camp in the island you should pay. At the time of our visit it was around 1000LKR per person. (note: this does not come with any tents or bon fires. just to spend the night.) There are some nice camping sites in the island. All these camping sites are very separated from each other and can not hear and there is no any sound disturbances even when you sing songs loud in the mid night. Overall a very good experience and one of the best places for camping with sea breeze.

It's very nice place for beach camping. You can enjoy the sunset and sunrise, They have tents, you can enjoy a nice bon fire, we bought firewood from the owners and was able to cook a nice meal. Beach is not good to have a bath because of sharp rocks and sea urchins. One thing you must do is the snorkeling session. It was truly amazing. Wind is bit strong. They have few camping sites.

Good place for camping but believe me never ever go if there’s high tides. Authorities have no responsibility ,it will definitely get you drowned. (From personal experience )

Blue beach island is located in Southern province of Sri Lanka which is very popular as a beach camping site. What is iconic is that the island is connected to the main land by a narrow strip of beach where you can cross by foot when the tide is low. Water is blue and crystal clear giving "Maldives" sort of feeling. Black sea Urchins are in abundance.

If are planning for a beach camp in dow south , highly recommend. The owner is very friendly and helping. They brief you about the island , and always ready to serve you even during late night. This is a private island so you need to contact them and book an area in the island for camping . ( You still can go and visit the island roame around until 6pm .) Per person 1000/- for locals In addition you can eat camps (600/- to 800/-) BBQ grills from there ( need pre booking). Once you enter the island you can go around and check different view point, until 7pm ( after that you are expected to stay within yout camping area respecting the privacy of other campers ). If you are planning for bonfire/campfire , you can buy logs / bricks near the island owner house .( You may need 10+ bundle for a night). Since the island is away from the city , buy any essential or dinner or bonfire starter or meat for BBQ ( this can be even bought through the island guides ) before going there . DONT GO TO TO THE EDGES OF THE ISLAND AS IT IS SLIPPERY AND SOLID ROCKS JUST BELOW THE SEA. You can have a bath near the natural sand bridge connecting the island to the main land . It's very clean water you can get life jackets and snorkeling kit to watch beautiful small fishes. ( Don't go passing the rocks ( beyond 50m ) there are sea urchin, and if you step on to them it's very painful , you need to remove the urchin spines ASAP ( need to go to town)).

Private island owned and managed by British personnel. You can stay at the camping site of the island after making a reservation. You can witness the beautiful Nilwella sunset if you are lucky! Awesome experience for a traveller in his lifetime. As an addon, you can arrange snorkeling session on request!

If you are at south of Sri Lanka. In hiriketiya area don’t miss this island. Blue beach island. Amazing spot. What a beautiful view. To walk around in this little island. We went there during the day. Zero people. Met I think one couple. Passing buy. And two local people who were fishing. So definitely worth to see.

I go there every week. Very calm environment with less people. Actually water color is different than usual beaches in Sri Lanka. I think that's why this place called as "Blue Beach".

A little stroll from Hiriketiya to Blue Beach is completely worth it, you won’t be disappointed. If you’re a confident swimmer, take snorkels and swim on the left hand side of the island where there are big shoals of fish in the morning. Whilst sitting on the beach, I saw a turtle in the waves also. You can get a king coconut from the beach hut, super friendly guy and willing to help with tips and everything.

This is a small island located in the Nilwella area of Matara. It is a beautiful island in the truest sense of the word, surrounded by the Blue Sea. The island is connected by a small sand dune. So some days this fence is covered with seawater. So be aware before you go. An island is also a great place for camping and snorkeling. It’s a beautiful place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, to enjoy life, to enjoy the beauty of the environment that we can not see with our eyes. You must first visit the trustee’s (island) home. They are usually asked to arrive between 4 and 5 p.m. You can park your car there. The rest of the journey should be completed on foot. The island is about half a mile or 1 from the trustee’s house. On the way to the island, you will find the Nilwella fishing harbor. After a few minutes, you will enter the gate of the island. Then you can see the tombolo. It’s not a very long one. It is fun to stand on the waves on both sides. #Blue Beach Island Roadmap From Tangalle travel along Tangalle Road towards Mihindu Mawatha passing Kudawella up to Nilwella to reach the Blue Beach Island in Nilwella.

Note that I am talking about the island itself, not about this hotel. Very charming place to spend your time. Fond of eye catching scenaries. You have even stare at it or else you can enjoy it by having a bath in that swallow seas. Highly recommended place in Matara area to have a quality time.

There’s nothing like a relaxing an evening at the blue beach to soak up all your worries. Just closing your eyes and imagining the soft sand caressing your toes as gentle waves lap the shore and the sun shines warmly down is enough to bring about a feeling of tranquillity. Enjoy the southern beach experience
