Our favorite hotel in Sri Lanka. The new owners have taken this hidden gem in the mountains outside of Kandy and added a dash of style and class to it. The rooms are beautiful and cozy, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the food is delicious. Such a great find!

I personally experienced the generous and friendly treatment of visitors and guests of Ellerton Bungalow Management and Staff for my 8 days of stay. The service was very good and our stay was so relaxing. Thank you for being such a wonderful host throughout my stay at your cozy and unique bungalow. It was such a memorable stay. While on a work trip a few of us ventured out of the city for a trip to The country. The bungalow was suggested by our tour guide, the photos really can’t do the experience justice. Luca and Iromi are wonderful and so helpful, as are the whole of the team. Such a lovely part of the world - next time we’re back in the country I’ll be heading back for a longer stay.

What a paradise! So silent and peaceful. We stepped out from our room/ little apartment and there was the infinity pool and magnificent lush jungle view. Nice and professional stuff and the most delicious fruits that we had so far in Sri Lanka. We will come back for sure :)

Stayed in December as part of our honeymoon. One of the most memorable hotels we stayed at with faultless food and service. Really a hotel to remember (so much so we were discussing it today 8 months later)

Home away from home ❤️ Second time I came here and what can I say? There's no place better than Ellerton for a holiday. The hosts are remarkable even though they were not in this time, (and sorely missed, the dogs were missed too but we made friends with a cat, on the list of things missed were also Iromi's cake & Luca's chats), the food is delicious, the rooms are spacious, the team is friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The whole place is carefully decorated. I have come here before when it was sunny and this time it was a little rainy and I can say it's wonderful in both weathers. We watched the mist roll in last night and it was a whole different experience! All I can say is come here and see for yourself! You will come again and again!

A gem that I accidentally stumbled upon while searching for a high quality accommodation in Kandy, and my gut decision was right! A must-stay if you’re in the area, a healing hideaway.

An absolutely stunning place to stay. The property has an incredibly peaceful and serene feeling which is hard to find - the views are simply breath-taking. The staff and owners make the place feel like a home away from home with their fantastic service and attention to detail. The rooms were beautifully furnished and comfortable, and the food was delicious. We will definitely be returning next time we come to Sri Lanka.

An absolutely amazing experience staying at Ellerton. The location is fantastic and the staff and owners do everything to maximise this. The Accommodation is superb and the attention to detail is ever present. Food is amazing through out the day. I particularly liked the minimum choice of menu allowing for the kitchen staff to work magic. Flavours and presentation with amazing. Local excursions were set up and managed well. Before during and after. Again every effort is made to make sure you really experience what Ellerton's location can offer. Thank you Ellerton for an amazing experience during our trip to Sri Lanka.

A spectacular place - great food, staff, very private bungalows high up in the mountains. Quite the most beautiful view we saw in all of Sri Lanka. Watching the sun setting from the pool is downright magical. Kind and attentive owner. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Just, magical. The place itself is pure beauty and pleasure, but not in a over decadent way. The new owners took over about 1,5 years ago and they really have made it into their own thing, something very special. Even though the rooms are beautiful carefully decorated, and the facilities and place overall is as clean, functional and as pretty as it can be, while being natural and not overdone, it is the feeling it gives that really put this place in my heart. It had embraced all things great about Sri Lanka, from food to decoration and surroundings. It is climate aware and does not serve anything in plastic, for example. The staff is super helpful and so nice, but leaves you be and is not too much. You can see that the staff is well treated and enjoy working there. Breakfast is delicious and served to your liking, same with dinner. Tours and excursions can be arranged thanks to knowledgeable and happy, helpful staff, and not the typical touristy things, but personal and unique, such as the local tea factory, great, just great. It feels like being home, but taken care of just as you would like on a vacation. This is not the typical luxury unpersonal resort, so don't go there expecting that, even though it is definitely luxurious, this place has a soul, and a heart and is more than happy to share it with you. With that said, I'd go back just for the view. But there is so much more than that. Can't wait to have a chance to come back.

Ellerton Bungalow is located in Doluwa, which is on the Kandy/Gampola road. The best way to get there is by train in the Observation Car of the Inter-City express, which takes two hours and thirty-five minutes in a/c comfort and costs 1,000 Rupees one-way. From Peradeniya Station, you'll be met by a taxi The Ellerton Bungalow is one of the best travel experiences I've had. We were searching for comfort and rest after a long year. We found it in spades! Hosts Luca and Iromi Poloni are the perfect hosts, having returned from Switzerland in 2018, and buying the property, which was run by a British couple for 14 years. The rooms are large, beautifully laid out, and the food is exquisite. We had Italian dinners on the three nights we were there, and they couldn't be faulted! In fact, they were exceptional, and we found them difficult to finish. The resident pet dogs Sammy, Boula and Lunar are a very welcome addition!

Even though we stayed in 2018, Luca & Iromi + team are still close to our hearts & probably the best memory of our Sri Lanka trip. True hospitality in a magical surrounding up in the hills above Kandy.

How we can say "thanks"? We can give a recommendation and we recommend in 100% It isn't a big 5 stars hotel, is the small Bungalow Hotel where you fell like home with a great service, with delicious ciusine. We were there only 2 days and the weater was really crazy but the place and people compensated everything. Luka is the best guest host of house what we met! So if you look for the place on the end of world in the Rain Forest it must be Ellerton Bungalow!

I stayed at Ellerton Bungalows for three nights with my dad and sister, and from the moment we arrived Luca, Iromi and the rest of the Ellerton staff went above and beyond to make our stay as special as possible. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds near Kandy in the verdant hills and the views from the pool and dining terrace are absolute gorgeous. The food and service was incredible and Luca was really helpful when we were planning our days and walks. Our stay at Ellerton was truly one of the highlights of our Sri Lanka trip and I’d highly recommend!

Truly one of the most beautiful hotels and properties. Spectacular, serene views - lovely meals, and incredibly kind owners and staff. The rooms are just impeccably decorated, and the infinity pool overlooking the green is out of this world. Wish I had more time here!
