πŸ‘πŸ‘ Traditional dance of Sri Lanka. The show was filled with drum beats, flips; the fire breathing & walking on the coal bed made me literally hold my breath. Definitely visit when in Kandy and don't shy away from the first row of seats for a good view. Traditional Sri Lanka dance in bright-colored traditional dresses. Lasts about an hour and involves loud music that reminds of America’s Indian rythmes. Entrance fee: 2,000 LKR

A must see show when you are in Kandy. A set of folklore dances that are amazing. It is for an hour from 5 to 6. They give out the list of dance names, as per your language. Very helpful. Enjoy the show.

It was a fun experience but this looks like an amateur group, the dancers were not always well synchronised, they quite obviously were laughing to each other when something didn’t go right. The most impressive part was the fire. In general I don’t think it’s worth the price.

Great cultural show, with colourful, entertaining drums and dances, with an impressive fire show after.

Everyone around the lake will bang on about it and hassle you for a ticket. It's on everyday at 5pm and lasts an hour. You'll know what to expect if you've ever been to Shen Yun (Chinese equivalent, but much less long and less good) - so it's a cultural show of dance and flips and fire breathing performances. They are impressive but the performers looked more like they were competiting with each other rather than functioning together. Book your ticket before 4pm the same day and ask to reserve seats if you decide to go. Tickets are 2000 rupees.

I felt this was a little tacky and reminded me of a school drama club and felt more like going to a kids school play, touts everywhere during the day to try to get you to book front row tickets and some even told us it was a one off special event and luckily we was here for it although this show happened every day from 5-6pm, seemed very unorganised people still coming in and sitting down after 5pm, show finally started approx 5:15pm and finished approx 6pm, a lot of people got up and left during the show. Also a lot of people trying to sell you magnets, paintings snacks etc etc 2000 rupees entry

A range of traditional dance, music and entertainment presented in this one hour performance. Each dance is explained in the programme and there is fire eating/walking at the end. Very interesting and an enjoyable presentation of traditional art. Note - Come before to secure a good seat as they are all reserved in advance. Come into the hall and show the stewards where you'd like to sit and it will be reserved for you.

They did a great job, was nice to see the different dances. Too bad there were only tourists though, but other than that loved the dances.

Mediocre perfomance in an questionable theater. If you are really interested in traditional dances it might be worth it. But the performance was nothing special and the dances were repetative. The building was like an old warehouse unfortunately water came in during the rain. The highlight was probably the firewalk.

I wouldn't attend this but part of a tour. The evening we attended it was packed & hot in the hall. Show went for 45 min & was entertaining - a bit slow at times & some of the instruments/sounds are not pleasant. Good entertainers & at times very physical & energetic. Finished with fire walking & twirling - very up close experience. Worth the 45 min to see some of the traditional dances.

You should definitely go, but as other people say it isn't great. Quite a shabby looking place and some of the dancing is a bit rubbish. I got quite sleepy during the more boring dances. The best bits were the gymnastics and backflips that the men did, and the fire breathing and walking at the end. During the fire walking they get people up on stage and around it, and one woman fell into the music bit and cracked her chin, so watch out for that!

Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the show. The dancers seemed to enjoy what they were doing. Very interesting.

I really enjoyed the dancing in this show, and the fire eating / walking at the end was brilliant! I’m surprised people have scored this only 1 star, for the cost of the ticket it’s great entertainment. I think the dancing was pretty authentic Kandyan style. I would much rather have this than a sexed up show just for tourists.

Fantastic show....one would be spellbound while watching the show....fire walk at the end is mind blowing.

Nice show with skilled dancers. The show has a good pace, not too short, not too long. The drumming gets a bit boring though. The walking through fire at the end is spectaculair and takes place in the middle of the room

Was ok and for 1000rp per person just about ok. I doubt that is more worth than that. But if you are nearby and time, have a look. 'theater' quite dark. A lot of reserved seats. Even you come early, you can't sit in front. And with us, a big Chinese travel group came late, and then they were seated there. Which meant no view on the dancers during 5mins.

The experience is below average for the foreigner price you’re paying. The dancers are talented, but the shabby stage makes it feel like a high school play. If the stage had complete overhaul makeover, then maybe this would’ve been more worthwhile, but for now I would suggest catching the show at the Cultural centre down the street (much better venue).

Similar to shows you see all over this part of the world. Some of the dancers were better than others. Most enjoyable part was the fire walking at the end.

Expected for more. Dance are nice, but not extraordinary. Location is not the best choice to go. Crawdy and not very clean. In yhe back you cant see full stage. So if you whant to go be there come whit half hour before.

Anthropological experience. The tickets are 1000lkr and we didn't pay for the kids, as they sat on us. We came around 16 and our guide reserved us seats at the 3rd row. The hall itself is very hot and the fans are not enough. The performance itself is of very low grade, except for 1 guy who did nice acrobatics. For the fire show at the end they ask people who sit far to come to the stage as the show is between the stage and the first row. The fire show lasted for about 5 minutes. Bottom line: come if you are in the area. Not worth a trip.

Don't bother its only for tourists, very low quality dancing, bit like a school production. If it hadn't have been included in our tour package we would have not bothered. Another tourist trap. Building is run down. Was like sitting in a school hall on plastic dinning chairs. With lots of touts trying to get you inside. Avoid and see the temple of tooth instead
