Avoid at all costs. This is worst hospital to ever exist. Joint commission needs to do an impromptu visit to see the integrity of the ER. The nurses here carry such a nasty attitude. Heard one say, “they can wait, they’re here all day”, “I am not going to do it…ask someone else to draw blood” It’s an institution with incompetent people. The ER is a nightmare place. They take you to the bathroom but don’t help you back into the bed and take an hour or so to put you back on the monitor. It’s a place where nurses come to play and talk all day. Just a slow hospital. Now, for Y2K (I think) - pretty sure the nurse supervisor is racist. She has shoulder length blonde hair and walks around power hungry with a white coat. Grants approval for who she likes. Allowed the white patient to have four visitors where as everyone else is allowed 2 at a time/day and then has the audacity to talk to me about policy (I write policy FYI). Literally had them all in the same room. Even though I was the only patient in a room with one visitor, they had a issue with letting someone else up as courtesy, again doesn’t seem to be a problem if you’re white. Do not come to this place! The hospital visitation policy differs because there’s lots of Hispanics and Blacks patients here…other branches do not have such stringent rules. Also, check the security log book as to how many visitors they’re allowing for particular patients. An internal investigation needs to be done!

Worst hospital experience of my life. I am 45. The waiting room was completely empty. It took about an hour and a half to get a room. The room was shared with another patient. Little to no privacy. The floor was dirty, plastic gloves, tissues, opened band aids. The room was freezing. I was asked to put on the robe and socks which I did. I asked for a blanket and was given a blanket that was not properly dried and was still wet. The treatment that I went there for took an hour to administer. That is normal. I was in the hospital for five hours. Most of that time was just waiting around while staff hung out and talked. at one point I was given an EKG. After a few minutes of trying to figure out why the machine was not working the nurse realized that she never plugged it in. Not the kind of thing that instills confidence in a patient. In addition, there were multiple times when I started to talk to the nurse and he simply walked away. When I was finally released from the hospital, I was so cold that I was literally shaking and could barely walk to my car. nobody seem to care. If you can, I would avoid this hospital at all costs until they get their act together.

Recently my grandmother was admitted to Mercy. While she was in ICU she was left completely exposed to anyone walking down the hall can look into her room and see her private parts while the attending nurse was down the hall. The doctors are not very considerate of the family members who need information or paperwork filled out. Her linens were not changed daily. I would not recommend taking loved ones to this hospital.

So many bad reviews but they have the greatest RNs you will ever encounter. If you want to blame anyone for the long wait look around, how many people are there for actual life threatening emergencies? You don’t see a nurse? They are probably saving a life and if it’s not yours then it’s not your turn. Do you realize that each nurse has about 15 patients to look after? If you want to blame anyone blame those that could have went to their primary or urgent care, blame the administration for not hiring more nurses, blame administration for not paying them a living wage, blame administration for not sending the ER some help! It’s not the RNs fault. The administration calls them Hero’s and shames them for not working extra to handle the massive amount of patients. No one helps them, the docs won’t draw your blood and won’t take you to the bathroom, the PAs don’t even know how to place IVs or do your vital signs so leave those poor RNs off your list of complaints. They are doing the best they can without any support at all. They are short staffed because no one wants to work in those conditions. Next time you are there thank your nurse because they are the only ones that are working. Some of the techs work too but they have a union that backs them up. Patients need to complain to the administration, let those nurses know you support them, be nice ! They wish they could help you more but it’s impossible. Nothing changes if nothing changes! I love those nurses, they are the best part of Mercy! Thank a mercy nurse today!

I would never recommend mercy to anyone. They treat their employees really bad then the employees look like they don’t even want to be there and I don’t blame them. I’ve never seen such a small amount of employees working with a busy section of the hospital. It’s a shame too because both of my parents have been there and my sister in law who spoke wonders about the labor unit went too. I will never recommend mercy again. I hope the owners or whoever overseas mercy immediately realizes what. shame they have let this hospital run to. Patient advocacy is going to say please contact us but it won’t change anything. They will say let us reach out to discuss but it’s not okay to continue doing what they are doing. All for profit. One or two bad reviews i get it. but multiple bad review with the same response to contact mercy? nothing gets done. Just so so disappointed since it’s so close by. thankfully they opened back up the hospital in long beach so i don’t have to recommend or travel to mercy again. time to give south nassau more tries

If I could give this hospital of a dumpster fire 0 stars I would, I brought my mother into the emergency room for a severe allergic reaction and there was absolutely no nurses to help, I was begging to security for someone to get a nurse and they couldn’t grasp the severity of the situation. Then when they could finally get a nurse she was incredibly rude and made my mother walk to her when she was extremely dizzy from the reaction, she was then taken away and absolutely no news of how she could be. While being stuck in the waiting room another woman walks in with bleeding foot, blood everywhere and nobody was there to help her at all. The blood on the ground wasn’t cleaned up for a long time, and still wasn’t properly cleaned. This is a ghetto hospital that clearly doesn’t care, and I don’t recommend bringing anyone here.

After several months in and out of the hospital, my grandfather was sent to Mercy Hospital Hospice. The last hours of his life were spent in comfort and peace, in a very nice room with amazing staff. The doctor even came in and said a prayer with us. After months in and out of hospitals, the staff and doctors at Mercy made us feel at home and made a very tough time, a little more bearable. We were incredibly scared to send him to "one of those places" but we are very grateful for Mercy and the kindness they showed us.

Gave birth to my first baby here last week. Saw some negative reviews & was a bit nervous about coming here, but this hospital exceeded my expectations by far! It was a beautiful experience. Very clean and the entire staff was very empathetic to my needs. All of the nurses were beyond kind, but especially Annie in maternity! I was very scared and she stayed by my side. She’s an angel and helped me the entire way through my labor. I can’t thank her enough. I had to stay a couple of days extra, being that I’m anemic and my hemoglobin was so low after delivery. The room I stayed in was quite nice, the food is actually very good & I got to keep my baby in the room with me, which was a very big deal to me. On that floor, Mary-Ellen & Dominique were very sweet and helpful throughout my stay. My husband and I are planning on having more children in the future & I will definitely be returning here for my future births. Thank you Mercy Hospital for helping me deliver my precious babygirl! ❤️

My brother was there for three and a half weeks in serious condition. He was poorly cared for. He received several bed sores. You would think because he was a diabetic they woul be more careful and get him a wound care specialist. Additionally, one of my sister's went to see him, he was very far away from the nurse's station. No one cleaned his mouth or was attending to him. Instead they were all in the nurses station on their phones and talking. This place and their staff leave a lot to be desired. I'm sorry he was not taken to Winthrop or Northwell. If you love your family, don't ever take them to Mercy because you certainly will not find mercy there.

I was extremely surprised and impressed by mercy hospital. I had surgery there last week and everything went well. My presergical testing was 2 weeks ago and my 1st experience at mercy hospital I pulled up parking was easy and close to where I needed to be. Although my visit took longer than expected there was really no long line of people waiting ahead of me. Every staff at the hospital was super nice and friendly. The morning of my surgery went great. I've waited less than 30 minutes to be taken in to get ready for my surgery. After my surgery I was brought up to my room it was clean and modern. The nursing staff couldn't have been nicer, and very attentive. I accidentally rang my bell I got a response in unless in a minute, I'm super impressed. I've never had that experience before at any hospital. They even called me today to see how I was feeling. Bravo, Mercy Hospital. Thank you for making my hospital stay very pleasant.

I had no idea they changed the name. I went here for a hand laceration. Usual waiting room procedure, "Fill out paperwork even though you can't write sir." Now go sit and wait! I ended up being there over an hour before I was seen to have stitches put in. I was sent to Express Care instead of the regular emergency room. In speaking to the doctor, he told me that it's very busy on emergency room side. Pretty thankful to be able to go get care and leave. I would rather a long wait and go home than to be in the emergency room with who knows what's going on overnight. The staff was friendly. Be aware there are students there as well. So your actual care may not come from the doctor or even a nurse Ended up with the stitches and of course went home. I cannot say it is any better or worst than any other place from an emergency room perspective. Luckily I have not had to have any major surgeries warranting a stay in the hospital. That type of hospital visit review would have to come from someone else. Hopefully I stay healthy and won't have to review it at all again! As an update: It has been some months and my scar with the stitches has healed. I am pleased and it definitely doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Pretty much a straight line

I was very skeptical about coming to this hospital as I have read some negative reviews. I went in on Friday August 11 for back surgery. I tend to not be the greatest patient as I graduated from Catholic Medical Center and worked as an RN then Nurse Manager. I found some of the nurses were very experienced and supportive. Kudos to Terry RN, Cynthia, Erica and new hire Kevin RN. Night nurse John was so professional and caring. The PT department was outstanding. I have changed my opinion of Mercy Hospital the people on my unit treated me very well. I am so grateful for their caring attitudes.

I delivered both of my children at this hospital and the staff and nurses each time were amazing. They were very attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. If I have more children, I would only want to deliver here. Plus the food after delivery was delicious! Thanks to everyone here who made my deliveries a success and allowed me to take home happy healthy babies!

The staff is very professional, kind and caring. Yes the hospital is a bit dated but the service and care was exceptional. Id like to commend Suzanne RN in the OR triage. She really calm me down when I was ready to walk out after another delay for my surgery. The OR was spotless. Dr. Ahknouh and his staff were excellent. They all had the best bedside manner. The best Or staff. Shout out to Nana who’s one the nurses I dealt. She is amazing. Took such good care of pre and post surgery. She’s very reassuring and compassionate.

I was scheduled to have surgery here (twice) and pulled out. I will likely be having surgery here as my amazing doctor utilizes this hospital while he's in NY, so I'll update my review based on my experience and based on my outlook of this place as I am a nurse with my nursing license. For now... The pre-surgical testing appointment people (two women) have disgusting and unprofessional attitudes. They will go out of their way to NOT help you. Especially the older white lady with the raspy voice who sounds like she eats an ashtray for breakfast. Absolutely rude and will hang up on you or put you on hold without notice. Altogether, acts mentally unstable. No idea how any place of business wouldn't fire someone like this. I've only ever gone in through the very front and the reception at the desk have typically just been ghetto and rude. They are also unfriendly and have zero manners or etiquette. Usually, people choose receptionists to be a very positive face to their establishment so I'm mind-boggled as to how they end up with these kind of people. My only guess is that everyone here is union protected. I'm pro-union but unfortunately they attract trashy and lazy people as well who could care less about quality and service because they know it's almost impossible to be fired. If these employees are NOT unionized, then this makes my opinion of the hospital even lower as they should have zero issues replacing them with better employees. There should (either way) be someone on top of all employees doing discreet quality checks, writing them up and getting rid of them when they don't perform their job. It's mindboggling to think people can be this nasty and not do their job and still be paid for it.

I'm never one to write a review, and although I'm in pain right now, I had to share my experience as a patient following an outpatient procedure yesterday at Mercy Hospital. The staff is so caring and compassionate, from security to the front desk, the pre opt team, ambulatory staff, to the surgical team. Nurses Pat, Janet, and my transport lady Debbie were the best.. My doctor, Dr. Chiao is caring, has a great bedside manner, and is very professional. I was there the previous week for my scheduled procedure, but it was canceled last minute due to my low Potassium levels, so I was disappointed that I wouldn't receive the same care the following week, but they exceeded it... Mercy is the only hospital for me. Thank you to all the staff for restoring my faith in humanity.

If I could give 5 stars it would go to specific staff… But this 1 star (because I can’t choose 0) goes to some of the staff on the 2nd floor 2K who treated me so inhumane upon discharge. I was admitted for 5 days after a spinal surgery and upon discharge Nurse Phyllis was upset that I my clothes were still in the hospital property bag… was upset that I did not have a dress or that no one brought me a dress to change into… was upset that my belongings were on a nightstand that would mean she needed to move a chair in order to get to them… and became extremely upset when I stated I needed to use the commode before getting ready. She told the nice RN (Rita) “she’s not even ready, I’m not doing all of this, I’m going to check on my real patients” and left. I proceeded to get ready on my own as I expressed to Rita in agony due to the pain that should not have had to fend on my own and get ready on my own. I had spinal surgery on Friday and have not even walked more than 30 steps at the point of discharge. So Rita went on a mission looking for a wheelchair and after 30 min she returned with one. She gets me rest to go and from what I heard it was too busy for her to leave the floor so she advised someone else to do it- they said no because they were pregnant and didn’t feel like it. The next person Darcy (I believe), a secretary, was given the directive. Upon wheeling me out of the room she asks me if I had someone downstairs because she’s only taking me to the lobby. I said ok. Rita informed her she had to make sure I made it safely to the car she then starts going back and forth with Rita about not feeling combinable doing that. Someone else talked from the end of the hallway that they need my wheelchair that Rita searched high and low for- but if they had did their rounding they would’ve seen an unoccupied wheelchair by the elevator. Darcy then walked away to talk about me to the rest of the staff and I chimed in to say the truth. I am Healthcare Administrative Director and it is extremely unprofessional to disregard a directive or belittle a patient right in front of said patient. Please show me the policy or job description that states it is not in their job description to do such tasks. It’s disgusting that this is the way the staff treats their incapacitated patients. Phyllis needs to be transferred to an outpatient department and Darcy needs to works in a non-patient facing area. Thank you to the physical therapists. physician assistants, PCA’s- especially Shaneeza & Wendell, RN’s Kassie & Rita that did their job to the fullest extent to take care of me throughout my post care. I will not be coming back here nor would I recommend it to anyone else.

I had surgery at Mercy a few days ago. I have been to quite a few hospitals throughout my life. However, I was never treated as well as I was at Mercy. From doctors, to security, admins, housekeepers, to the nurses. Everyone was very polite, professional and extremely helpful. On top of that the hospital is spotless, I’ve been working in hospitals for some time and this is the cleanest I’ve seen so far. The staff on 3p deserve so much praise, especially the nurses. They were kind, understanding, and went above and beyond to care for their patients. I will definitely be back to this hospital for my care going forward. Thank you for caring and turning what is usually a very stressful or frustrating , into a very positive experience.

There are a few employees in the Ambulatory section of the hospital that are extremely rude on the phone. They respond as if they don’t want to be bothered helping patients. I mean maybe they shouldn’t be answering the phones or maybe they should just get other jobs then. My first encounter on the phone was a week ago regarding my pre-op appt. Woman was rude and said I had the wrong number and hung up on me. Then again today when I called to find out the time of my surgery. I asked her what her name was after the rude conversation and at first she refused to give me her name. Then I asked her again what her name was and she said Greta with an attitude. I wonder if she was telling the truth. I was not rude and I should be spoken to with respect, period. I’m second guessing having my surgery here.

I was concerned about the low rating of this hospital. However, every employee including information / security are extremely caring and helping. A random employee walked me all around the building to find the correct elevator for surgery. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The nurses are the kindest I have ever come across. Give them a chance to show you how amazing they are.

Don’t go here if you had a miscarriage. They treat you like you had an abortion or something. Sonogram tech has zero emotions. They told me to “pass IT through” at home. Very disgusted. I’ve been traumatized since.

I was in Mercy hospital from August 1st thru August 19th. I was discharged without receiving urgent medications for blood clot. Had to make dozens of calls to speak to a doctor about what to do without medications. Had to borrow money from a friend to pay $400.00 for medication to prevent a stroke or heart attack. The PT department was very good but nursing staff not so good. Didn’t get care I needed when buzzing for help. Washing I was on my own to navigate and always struggling to get medication as needed. I’m I grateful to not be in that hospital any longer.

I had my surgery back on December 2021 and I had a good experience. I stated for one night because my surgery required it. They treat me well and welcoming the only thing that I can say is the nurses from the morning were a little careless other than that the night shift nurses were really attentive.

Terribly slow service. ER seems severely understaffed or incompetent due to the horrendous wait time to get tests, results, someone to update you, etc. There was a lady in the hospice program next to me in the ER crying out in pain all day for the nurses to see her only twice in 9 hours, and give her attitude and not coopoerate all while she was crying in pain and choking on her own phlegm. I've had more efficient service from hospitals in the ghetto. This needs to be rectified.

I came in for elective surgery and the entire staff was amazing, I can't stress enough how well I was taken care of. They helped me relax so much, because my anxiety was through the roof! Special shout out to my nurse in recovery who discharged me, I believe her name is Liz, she was so nice and showed me how to do things once I got home, helped me to my vehicle and then helped me inside. This experience was really nice, I would recommend this place to anyone having any type of medical issues. They're all very knowledgeable and super understanding. Thank you Mercy staff! ❤️

My grandmother is in this hospital right now and she is not receiving the care she needs. It’s disappointing that nurses aren’t more caring, especially to an almost 98 year old senior. I’ve made several phone calls to check to see how she’s doing and no one has answers. All nurses keep repeating are “I am not the doctor”. We know that!! Do they not teach in nursing school that you never advise patients that you just don’t have answers, or “I don’t know” should be removed from your vocabulary? I learned this in massage school. The answer is, “I will find out”. What a joke. We are still waiting on a call from the doctor and she’s been in there since Tuesday. I used to really like this hospital, but now my opinion has changed witnessing the neglect.

I had surgery a little over 2 weeks ago. I will NEVER go to another hospital again. The staff was amazing. Everyone was so nice and caring and made sure I felt safe and comfortable. When I say everyone, I mean everyone. The janitor, transport, security, unit aids, nurses, doctors and reception and everyone in between all treated me with respect and were very friendly. When I am nervous I tend to talk and joke around, the staff responded with laughter and talked TO me not AT me. They also treated my husband with the same kindness and made sure he was up to date on everything that was going on with my surgery. I have another surgery coming up on April so I look forward to seeing the staff again!

Came to the emergency room. Registrars has been messing up information multiple time. Environment not Sanitized properly. Clinical staff leave computer Unintended with patient information and medical list up. There are multiple HIPPA violation. Nurses walking out in the middle of two unresponsive patient talking about eating pretzels. I hear multiple patient complaining around me not being attended properly. They don’t have any space to place patient and I feel my conversation with the nurse is being overheard by another patient that’s not even one feet away from me.

It's the worst. I took my daughter with an earache, infection in her throat, and I spent 4 hours without being attended to. If you go for an emergency, don't let them sit outside with lies. We'll take care of them and they never do, and then to the insurance. They are charging you, it is not that it was free, it was bad for us before it was better now it seems that it is no longer useful, I had to come because they never treated me and the girl is in pain from everything if you look for them to be treated not for have it seated there is

They take your coinsurance and deductible before your procedure!!! That is outrageous!!!. We pay high taxes and high premiums which pay for those on government assistance. However they get better care than the hard working middle class!!! The least Mercy Hospital could do is work a payment plan after your procedure. You are trying to get better but their policy adds more stress to your pain!!! What kind of care is that????!!! They also over billed me. They are taking their time to send me a check. They were very quick not only to over billed me but to take my money up front before the procedure. Do NOT CHOOSE MERCY!!!

Hospice For visitors, our room in the hospice unit has a love seat that unfolds into a little bed, an upholstered arm chair, and two folding bridge chairs. That totals seating for four. Requests for supplies (pitchers of water, etc.) are filled fast, and that's not just compared to regular hospital rooms.

I came to visit my sister who had just had surgery and the staff at the main entrance was very rude. The first woman we encountered did not let us explain why we were there and just looked at my daughter and said we couldn't go upstairs because she was under age. Our intention was not to bring her upstairs because we knew that it was only 2 visitors. Then my daughter decided to lay on the couch in the waiting area that was empty and another woman started to shout that she could not be laying down. The staff is very rude.

I don’t know what happened to them. It used to be the very best of the beat hospitals I’ve been to. But now, woowwww. I’ve been here for the past 2 hours now. And there isn’t even that many people in the waiting room. So I’m guessing they’re just relaxing in there. Earlier this lady started to spasm and now I understand why. 😡😡🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵. Some of these nurses nowadays can’t go essay that they’ve had a hard day at work.

My heartfelt gratitude to Mercy Medical Center's delivery and labor unit, especially to the exceptional staff who made my experiences extraordinary. A special mention to Sara, my nurse, whose unwavering support and care left an everlasting impact. Dr. Hashmi, my dedicated OBGYN, navigated my entire pregnancy with expertise, ensuring a pain-free delivery. Dr. Yohana, who stepped in during labor, guided me through every push, culminating in a beautiful moment when my son entered the world. They ensured an immediate bond by expertly positioning the baby for effective breastfeeding and allowing ample time for skin-to-skin contact. This commitment to making the experience as natural and humane as possible sets them apart. Grateful for their exceptional care that extends beyond medical expertise.
