This is the best zoo in the area. This is a very kid friendly zoo. Employees are very nice and the animals are beautiful! The facility is SO beautiful, and there is much more of a variety of animals. There is also an area where children (or adults) are able to watch some of the trainers with an animal up close. They can ask questions, and there is a different animal each hour. My husband and I loved it and want to be back with our family!

LOVED!!! The Dallas Zoo was well maintained! My husband and I went on a little date to the zoo and it was AWESOME! We went when they had the lights as well during the holiday. I will have pictures of both. They animals were really pretty. We fed the giraffes and the animals were very attentive and playful. We would DEFINITELY go back again and We would DEFINITELY recommend!

What a fantastic way to spend a sunny day in Dallas! When most of the museums and galleries were closed on a Monday/Tuesday, I headed out to the zoo. It was the first Tuesday of the month, so even better, it was dirt cheap to get into. I had a wonderful time and even had a chance to feed the giraffe

Lies basically in the city and not too big. Lots of overpriced merchandise and food shops. You have to walk too much to see few animals which is not fun in peak summer. However the management seems fine. Zookeepers and staff do the animal show for kids which is informative. Animals seem well kept. Kid’s train is a short ride bit fun for kids.

It was an awesome Zoo. I've been to several zoos from San Diego to New York and this ranks up with some of the best. I really enjoyed how they made it an experience and not just "here is an animal. Here is another animal". The food was surprisingly good. Had all the highlights you hope to see from lions to primates. Would highly recommend.

We’ve had passes the past couple of years and I would say they have been the best investment! While my teenager gets bored with going frequently, our little guy loves it every single time! I have to say each trip is a different experience and well worth the return visits. The mix of animals on display is vast and varies, if one species isn’t feeling like being out for show there are plenty of others that are and the next time you go the tables turn. So like I said, it’s a different experience each time. Right now they have the Dino Safari adventure as an add on for a limited time and as a family full of dinosaur fans, we loved it! Worth the extra $ to go through. You ride through a great display of static and animatronic dinosaurs! Highly recommend that you visit this amazing zoo at least once if not 20 times!

we took the red line on the dart to the Dallas zoo (must recommend if you don't want to bother with driving). the whole experience was wonderful, it was the first time for some of my family members so they had a blast. However, it was around 90°F so most animals were near the shade and sleeping. It was alright since we got to see most of them. The kids area was super engaging but remember to bring an extra pair of clothes if you plan on letting the kids play in the stream. Some things to keep in mind: Bring a mini fan! Or a fan that sprays mist! The ones there work but they're not the best. Bring food and water! Get ready beforehand if you don't want to waste too much money there. Bring a few bucks to spend at the gift store or any special events there. Have fun! This is a core memory for most children so you don't want it to be a bad one. And please respect everyone around you. Thank you!

Great places to visit and staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Don’t miss the petting zoo for the kids . The washrooms are clean and located in good distance and restaurants are located in Center of both zones. Parking is paid for daily 10$ and it’s safe . We would definitely visit soon !

My family enjoyed our time at the zoo! How many careless individuals not wearing masks was very disheartening to see. They should stricter enforce it when many older people are trying to enjoy the time with their grandkids. If it wasn't corona virus then it would not be a problem but care for others!

The exhibits were really well set up. It was really cool how they made it an experience and not just "here is lion, here is a monkey". All the staples you want to see at a zoo. Kid friendly. Easy to navigate and the food was surprisingly good. Would definitely recommend and plan on going back.

My kids loved the zoo. Though hot during summer, it’s worth a visit during summer vacations. Go early in morning and you should be done by 3pm. Plus most animals are either sleeping or resting in shade during hot days, so it’s better to go early and catch on with the animals. We did the Dinosaur park(Dino Safari). It has ticket of $6 extra but it is worth 1 visit. Kids like it. I do recommend a visit if you have elementary age kids. We bought tickets in advance on discount $8 per head. Totally worth it!

Love this zoo. Lots to see, lots of space, it was busy but not crowded. Food was reasonably priced. Kids loved it. Lots of misters for the hot days, and air conditioned spaces. Only issue was the bees, EVERYWHERE. I’m allergic, and they were swarming the trash cans. Also, plopped smoking inside the zoo (don’t know if it’s allowed, but in a space with so many kids and people, it shouldn’t be). Hippo show was our favorite!!! Followed by feeding the giraffes, and the dinosaur exhibit (totally worth the additional few bucks!!)

It was my first time visiting the Dallas Zoo, and I actually enjoyed myself. I packed a healthy lunch with a bottled of iced water and a cold can of my favorite cherry pepsi. Because I am asthmatic, I had to purchase a scooter rental for the healthy price of $35.00. Yes, it was steep and did dig into my souvenir spending, but I was actually able to enjoy the park without precedence. The park was just waking up, and animals were being fed to get them moving around. The park staff were busy, you saw them stirring and preparing areas for visitors. The restrooms were clean and fully stocked. I suggest that you do some homework prior to your visit. This is not a cheap day trip, even for small children. Expect to spend a nice large amount for the rides, feeding the animals, eating, rentals, and souvenirs. Pace yourself, stay hydrated, take lots of pictures, and have fun! 🐅🐆🦒🐧🐢🦅🦍

Great experience today at the Dallas Zoo. Many of the habitats are easy to get around and you can see most animals from the different Vantage points. The misters around the park definitely help with the heat. There are maps around the park to figure out where you are or want to go. They do not have bags in gift shop, so if you plan to purchase a lot bring your own. Over all good zoo to visit.

We had so much fun! Food was good, and during the off season, we only paid $8 each to get in!! You can feed the giraffes, (when they are hungry) for only $6, or 2 for $10. Was a great day to explore, see the animals, and relax at the Dallas Zoo.

Zoo visit was totally unplanned, been to many big zoo’s and in my mind i was thinking might be a small one n not enough animals. Really a great place to spend with your family, kids will love this place. They have lot of animals, very well organized and very cheap too. We spend almost a day walking around the zoo, if you are in Dallas, n you finished other attractions, check out this zoo, definitely recommend 👍

What an incredible place to go see. We have not been to a zoo in a very long time so this was a treat. The cages were clean and there were plenty of plants around for them. They needed a gift shop, we didn't see any places to buy tee shirts or trinkets. Loved feeding the giraffes what a treat. The elephants have a new baby and it's so sweet to see them all interact. The tiger was fat and sassy. The monkeys were funny. The lion and lioness, oh so beautiful!! It wasn't crowded either.

Me and my hubby went on a date to the Zoo. It was raining that day but there was no one there! Which made us enjoy the experience even more. There were so many animals out except the chimps. We walked around the whole zoo and took our sweet time, in total, we probably spent around 2-3 hours. The zoo allows you to take your own food, which is a bonus. It was very fun and awesome getting to see the animals. I highly recommend it for families!

Nice little walk-through with lots of lights. The dinosaurs decked out in holiday attire are especially fun - probably my favorite part. Temperature was in the 40s when we went. Not too crowded with plenty of picture opportunities. Lots of people in matching pajama bottoms or wrapped in small blankets. Admission is fair but treats and cocoa are overpriced. An overall decent family fun night for a couple hours at a leisurely pace.

We've been members for years. The Zoo keeps upgrading, adding animals and we've noticed the zoo staff is amazing to the animals. No forced behaviors; if the ant-eater doesn't want to come out for treats, she stays where she is. As humane as it gets, and loved by my kids.

A few different animals than I've seen at other zoos. Too big to see everything in the 3 hours we spent there. Kids had fun in the play area. Adding the parking fee makes it more expensive than most zoos and it's a long walk from the parking lot to the zoo entrance.

The Dallas Zoo is one of the best zoos in the area. It’s pretty large and you will get lots of places to sit while walking around. Few food options you will find there but it’s good to carry some of your food, if you’re going with kids. And you will get baby strollers there, if you forget to bring yours. Definitely worth a try.👍🏻

Loved visiting this zoo. Great layout and variety of animals. Knowledgeable staff during the zoo chats were great with kids. Feeding giraffes was a real highlight. Food was really good for zoo food. Would love to see more non-animal things for kids. There is a carousel, could use a playground in a picnic area or a train that moves through the zoo instead of the one that goes in a small circle around fake animals.

I had a great time when I came to visit for a concert, I had a Sunday morning off so decided to drop by and had a blast. There weren't too many people there but it can accommodate quite a few people regardless. I listened to the elephant talk with the volunteer and she was wonderful, she knew so much about the animals and showed that she cared for them as well, hopefully this place gets a lot more support all around in order to maintain how well they keep their animals.

Loved our visit to the Dallas Zoo. Went at opening on the weekend. The weather was perfect. The animals were just waking up so all the morning sounds were amazing. The facilities were clean, the food was good, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely go again sooner than later.

We went on a Wed 12/27/23. It was too cold for some of the animals to be out. The gorilla and big safari animals were neat to see. The hippo wasn't out due to the lower temps. It is paved. It was a long walk from where we were able to park to the main entrance. Purchase tickets and parking online. Parking was $12.

Had the best time with my kids here today. I called ahead because I was coming with my boys in my semi and wanted to be sure that I could fit. They gave me a suggested parking area, however, when I arrived I was greeted by a parking attendee and informed they had accommodated my need and basically created a parking space for me! Check in at the gate was super quick and easy and the exhibits were set up extremely well so it was easy to see all the animals. The price was great also. 8.00 general admission for all the exhibits was definitely worth it. And 10.00 to park. We didn't eat there because it was extremely pricey ( a small pep pizza is 16.00) and honestly smelled like school cafeteria food. Overall though I was extremely happy and will be looking forward to returning again in the future.

Wonderful zoo!! Great knowledgeable staff and absolutely great place for children and toddlers. If you go on a Saturday make sure you're at the bird part right at 3pm so you can be the first to feed. The birds will land right on you or your children, just be careful because if you have a toddler he/she will definitely try to grab them and they're not too fond of that. Petting zoo is a MUST. I will definitely be returning ☺ oh and bring your mask because it is a requirement for some parts of the zoo.

It was wonderful. We have a lovely zoo here here in Dallas, and the staff were friendly and helpful, masked. Masks indoors, but most of the zoo is outdoors, and they weren't too crowded. There were food places open, and it was a pretty and cool shaded walk during the day we went, except for the savanna portion, which was of course, hot. We had a first rate experience with plenty of nice encounters with the animals who looked healthy and in nice facsimile habitats. I had forgotten the magic of the zoo and the wonderful creatures.

This is a super nice zoo. It was recently remodeled and I love the African safari area. You can even feed the giraffes! There are so many live shows and a really nice kids play area with pony rides. I definitely recommend coming here! Parking is great too!

The place are good for the entire family unfortunately we don't get the chance to enjoy a few animals, some of them are not there and some of them are hide or whatever like the lions, panther, and tiger but that's how are the mother nature. I will recommend go early cause with the second time we visit are like at 1pm and are to hot for the kids. Hope y'all enjoy!!!

Loved it. Have been to many zoos across US, but this was my first trip to the Dallas Zoo. It's big, clean and beautiful. Was not able to get hold of big cats (these are almost always most difficult to view in almost all zoos) but there were many other big animals: elephants, zebras, giraffes. Plenty of seating areas and also play area for kids. Wish some minor issues were taken care of: $4 water bottle is little too much, but good thing is that the zoo allows bringing your own food and drinks. Overall fun and good day out for the family.

What a nice zoo! The African exhibits are the highlight and very well done. We cruised through pretty steadily and saw the whole place in about 3 hours. You could definitely spend more time than that though. You’ll see elephants, zebras, giraffes, gorillas, tigers, cheetahs, lots of birds and an indoor reptile exhibit. It’s $10 to park at the zoo.

Really great zoo with lots to experience. It can take over three hours to see everything. Plan for a lot of walking. Great places to see most of the animals up close. I recommend an annual pass that gets you unlimited rides on the carousel and train and that way you can come back again if you didn’t catch one of the animals on your first trip. Seeing the baby hippo, elephant and giraffe on our last trip was pretty special,

I stopped by the zoo on a sunday, they have special times early in the morning in July and August so you can get there at 8:00 a.m. and beat the heat. The Dallas Zoo has a carousel that's great for adults and children, and a number of animals that are great to watch and look at. Some of the animals they have are the cheetahs, lemurs, elephants, zebras, giraffes, gorillas, condors, tigers, lions, small primates, anteaters, Galapagos turtles, vultures and many more. They have a number of food stops so you certainly will not get hungry which include pretzels, barbecue, burgers, salads, popcorn and other snacks. Overall it's very fun, going in early in the morning to beat the heat is highly recommended as it felt rather nice. They have plenty of shade in the zoo so you can be comfortable, I would take a hat anyway. They also have little shows that you can watch as well as zookeeper talks. I had a great time and recommend it for a nice day Outdoors. They have a train that stops right at the zoo so if you want to skip the $10 parking fee and not have to deal with highways I would highly recommend the train. I've taken the train many times and it's a very comfortable way to come to and leave the zoo.

I've been waiting to leave a review because after 5 mediocre visits, we finally found our zoo groove. So here's what you need to know. The animals free roam. So they may or may not be visible during your trip. It took us 3 visits to get a glimpse of the big cats. But now- they have a DINOSAUR exhibit 🦕 🦖 and for $6 extra dollars you can see the most amazing exhibit in Dallas. Recommended for kids 3+. I don't want to give it all away, so I went light on photos, but it's worth the drive and the money. Plan to spend 3 hours on your visit. You can bring strollers, snacks and juice. The zoo has a full diner with kids meals starting at about $10. Please go see this exhibit. I'm not sure how long it will be open.

I've only visited this zoo a few times over the years, but I always enjoy it when I do go. Tbe animals are very well cared for, and the enclosures are well kept. The grounds are nicely landscaped as well. I can't speak on the food and snacks offered because I've never tried any. On my most recent visit, they were decorating for the holidays and it was looking very pretty already even in the daytime. If you're visiting or living in the DFW area I'd recommend paying a visit to this zoo.

We had a great time at Dallas Zoo. It was a learning experience. We explore lots of animals. It was really fun and full of excitement visiting this place with friends. We are thinking to take our son to this zoo. Because kids especially enjoy exploring animals. I recommend everyone to visit this place.

We went to the zoo over the weekend and had a great time! Everyone was wearing masks and social distancing. We waited in line at the reptile house because it is limited occupancy. The same at the gift shop. The workers in the gift shop were so helpful and very friendly. The caretakers who were feeding the lions when we came by were great and answered questions for us. We saw other workers going through and sanitizing benches and other surfaces. The animals were very interactive too. The snakes were moving around a lot, the monkeys were swinging all over their enclosures, the gorilla enjoyed having an audience, etc. It was a great experience!

Did not met our expectations. They raised the Zoo entry fee from $8 to $17. They stopped the train raids and no safari rides. The place became so dull. Though we liked the Gorillas 🦍 roaming around and the giraffe 🦒 Worth enquiring the zoo about the raids before going.

We went to see the Dallas zoo lights drive thru Christmas lights. It is very pretty and very well organized and decorated. A must go to for kids. They will love it! Love the zoo too. Feeding the giraffes, animal and bird encounters are some of the fun things to do. The monorail is another attraction that's a great experience.

I think this a great home for the animals. The enclosures are well made that allow a lot of the more solitary animals to stay out of sight if they choose which is great for reducing stress in animals. While some kids may get bored because the tigers and lions are in corners it's great for the animals. Also there is a lot of great information spread though out the zoo so is a great learning opportunity. They have a great focus on bringing awareness to the human threat to animals and habitats. All in all a great zoo. They have also been great with covid and keeping the area safe and clean.

Huuuuuuge zoo. I don't think we saw all of it as we ran out of time. It closes fairly early. The zoo is fully licensed so you can walk around with a cold beer which is a definite plus on a hot day. They have a sky tram that was well worth the wait in line. My favorite was the giraffes, you can get right up close with them, it was pretty cool.

Beautiful exhibitions! The environment and the different habitats were spectacular. Giants of the Savanna was our favorite area. It was spacious and the animals had a lot of space to move around. I like that the zebras, ostriches and the giraffes were all in the same place together. I liked that I saw the whole family of the lions and the chimpanzees. It was an amazing experience. The rest of the exhibitions were really good too. The reptiles area was pretty big as well and they had a variety of different venomous and not venomous reptiles. It was pretty warm in this exhibition area. Overall the ambiance and the exhibitions were nice. The animals looked well taking care of.

Visited here on a very hot and sunny day. They do have a variety of animals, however the timing wasn't good. Some of the animals were not out due to the extreme heat. They have shower sprinklers which absolutely help with the heat. There's also retreats from the heat for when you want to sit and cool down a bit. A few food options and vending scattered all over. Make sure to have the map on your phone and come prepared.

Nice! Went for 2 hours on a Wednesday.. not too many people.. not much open in the way of concessions so pack a lunch and drinks. Parking was $10 admission is $15 each adult.. loved feeding the giraffes 🦒 $6 for 3 leaves of romaine lettuce.. but our 2 year old grandbaby loved it! Go early! All the animals are out.. the latter you go the less animals you will see.

This is one of my top Zoo's. So spacious and clean! The habitats are nice open and wide for all the animals. Informative plaques around with maps on all the corners for easy access through the Zoo. Plenty to do and see for everyone of all ages. Ramps all over for strollers or wheelchairs as well as benches for breaks. Really fun place for the family at a decent price!

Had a really nice time at the zoo. Every area we visited was clean and tidy, including restrooms. Thankfully we saw most of the animals, even though the temps were getting up there. I suggest arriving early in the morning if you visit during the summer before it gets too hot. Be sure to pack cold beverages and snacks. We weren't very impressed with the dino, picnic area. I've been to countless zoos & I've NEVER felt as bad as I did for the animals at the Dallas zoo 😪 It was nice to be able to see the animals, but I don't think the location of the zoo was a good choice. Also, every animal out had "Healing in Progress" signs & you could see why. Penguin days $8 for seniors/adults/children. Kids under 3 free. Parking was $10

Not too big so you can visit all animals in 1 day. All animals seemed to be healthy and I could see all of them. There is a kids playground area with a mini river. You can bring food in and they also have restaurants inside. Restrooms not so clean.

Was this the best zoo I’ve ever been to? No. Was the zoo and it’s exhibits outdated? Yes. That said I did enjoy the 4+ hours I spent at the Dallas Zoo however I would enjoy myself at pretty much any zoo with more than 10 species of animals. My main complaint is the complete lack of plant life as most zoos I’ve been to really take pride in their plant species and landscaping (even Chicago which gets a lot colder in the winter) which is obviously not a priority at the Dallas Zoo. For a 5-star rating they would need to update their facilities (the bathrooms are gross and don’t seem to have been updated since the 1970’s) and dramatically improve their landscaping and plant life.

This zoo beats the Houston zoo. It seemed so much more like a natural forest habitat with a lot of shaded areas. We saw pretty much all the animals we wanted to see. The Dino exhibit was super fun for the kiddos. It had all kinds of different dinosaurs, we rode on a small trolly and the tour guide talked to us about the dinosaurs and made a few jokes. Loved it.

We just became annual members at this nice zoo. We love it. I hope they can hire more workers to pick up trash by the parking lot, entrance, and main tunnel. The zoo itself is very-well maintained. The gorilla and tiger enclosures are AMAZING with many great vantage points. If I was rich, I’d donate money to expand these enclosures. I love gorillas. The zoo also needs to add more signs for way-finding and plant more shade trees on the hot side of the zoo. Boy, it is hot here today! I know the guys directing traffic at the front of the zoo have tedious jobs, but they need to smile and not glower. Also, my wife said one of the women’s restrooms needs to be repaired and renovated (There’s a hole in the wall.).

What an amazing zoo. I visited with my family during spring break. The place was packed, but the staff did an amazing job handling all of the people. All the bathrooms were fully stocked. All the attractions had plenty of space to see the animals. All of the animals looked well cared for. I would recommend a visit to anyone!

Great for little kids. Giraffe feeding ($6) and Bird Feeding ($2) was a hit. There's a kiddie zoo in the north that's like a kids park and has ways to interact with animals like birds and goats. I would only advise proper summer clothes since all that walking makes you really sweat!

Came out here on dollar day. Very hot. The indoor cooling areas were cool but not as cool as they could have been. Not enough areas to rest away from the 100° heat. Not enough water refill stations so pay attention to your map! Other than that we had a wonderful day and enjoyed seeing the animals! We brought our own food and drinks in a cooler. Huge zoo on a hot day. Prepare to walk. Destination Dinosaurs was pretty cool too! Enjoyed our day but it was very hot out.

It was fun for a little while. The heat outside put our zoo day to an early end. The zoo has cool zones set up around the grounds, but gets crowded. The dinosaur experience was cool but again too hot! 🔥

This is an AWESOME zoo and quite frankly, I liked it better than the other big name zoo "next door." It's a tad smaller which made it easier to navigate with the littles. But the biggest standout are the employees! They were so kind and knowledgeable! They engaged with my kids and were so kind. I got a blister and was embarrassed to ask for a band-aid but they made it no big deal! Offered to wrap my foot 😅 we WILL be back with season passes (even with a hour drive!)

The gorillas are amazing here. We really enjoyed how many spots around the encloser you are able to view the gorrilas. Zoo was very well kept up. On the smaller side compared to some zoos, but very clean.

I visited on a Monday as part of the Elephant Managers Association’s annual conference, hosted by both the Dallas Zoo and the Fort Worth Zoo. I truly enjoyed my visit and the hospitality offered by staff, from the volunteers and concessions department to the elephant staff who hosted us. I have visited the zoo several times over the past 10-15 years and always enjoy myself. All the animals seem well-cared for, clean and fun to view. There were many volunteers available to answer questions for the guests. A big thanks to all for a great visit and the great work this facility puts into caring not only for their elephants but the species as a whole.

Loves that we got see almost EVERY SINGLE ANIMAL...and the ones we didn't get to see had a sign in the cage that they were not in their habitat today so that help us instead of sitting there searching. Highlight of the day was the kids getting to feed the giraffe! Tons of wonderful snakes as well! Kids love the play area and petting zoo by the barn as well

My first visit to Dallas Zoo and Dallas Zoo Lights was a delightful experience. Invited by a friend, my fiancee and I thoroughly enjoyed the event. Easy to locate, the zoo had ample parking despite the crowd, with a constant ebb and flow of arrivals. The staff proved friendly and helpful, and the highlight was undoubtedly the captivating Dino lights—highly recommended. We even spotted tigers and wolves, sparking anticipation for a return during regular zoo hours. Pro tip: Your ticket purchase can be credited towards a Dallas Zoo membership, adding an extra incentive to the visit.

The Dallas Zoo is nice but everything is very spread out. It is a lot of walking and not much to see between exhibits. That is the part I don’t like. The dinosaur exhibit is the best part to me. They move and make noises, it’s pretty cool. My kids also enjoyed that part the most. I would arrive early if you want to park close to the entrance. It’s a little walk from the other parking lot. Also, There’s a huge Merry-Go-Round near the entrance.

The Dallas Zoo is a very nice zoo. While the DZ isn't as large as other zoos, they do a lot with what they have. They also don't try to cram in as many animals as possible, giving more space to the animals there (though the tiger needs more room). If you go, you'll get to see all the "rock star" animals - giraffes, elephants, gorillas, lions, tigers, wolves, penguins - but also much more. The Herpetarium was an unexpected delight. I had so much fun spotting the beautiful snakes, frogs, and lizards in their habitats. I highly recommend stopping by, even if reptiles aren't your thing. I also recommend paying the $6 to feed the giraffes! We stopped at Base Camp to sit and watch the elephants. They rolled in the dirt, ran through the water, and passed very close to us. The lions were cuddling together, rubbing heads. The lemurs were quite active, jumping through the tree branches and chasing each other around. It was a fantastic visit. I highly recommend going early and taking your time; there are plenty of places to sit and food stations throughout the zoo. There are also several locations to take cute photos, a souvenir shop (I got two cute plushies), a carousel, and more. There was one downside: the bathroom I visited had yellow streaks down the stall walls.

It's a smaller zoo. Has some pretty chill animals to see. We went at the 1:00 time frame and able to see most animals. I'm not a huge fan of zoos, but the animals were active and seemed content.

While visiting family We decided to go to the Dallas Zoo. Its hard to judge because of somethings are not operating because of COVID. But I think the zoo was well kept and the kids had a great time feeding animals. I was expecting a full day of activities but somehow we finished rather quick. The little ones did not seem to notice so that works for me.

  • 5/5 Taylor K. 3 years ago on Google
Went during the day on a Wednesday. I felt safer than I do in most places nowadays (covid speaking). Not too many people out and about and everyone has masks (required for everyone 10 and older). The animals seemed to be more active than before too so over all a better experience than most other times I've gone.

Always love the relaxed nature of the zoo. The animals are entertaining. The exhibits are clean. Shows are educational. Lots of shade throughout the walking areas. Snack and food locations are around the park. You can feed the giraffes for $5-$6.

We love the Dallas Zoo because they have a really nice layout and very authentic habitats for their animals. The staff is always ready with a helping hand or an answer about one of the animals. We also love the Endangered Species Carousel up front...we ride every time and the money goes to a great cause!

One of my highlights of my vacation! The giraffe feeding was a great experience. The park is definitely a hike but they do a great job of giving you plenty of things to look at besides the animals. Great spot for animal photography too (make sure you bring that 200mm)! The way the enclosures are designed give you plenty of space for good positioning. Great location for IG/TikTok content, especially inside the tunnel.

I went last Wednesday looking forward to seeing the lion cub triplets, but they weren't out due to maintenance on their habitat. There wasn't a sign on the habitat at all notifying people of that, you had to find someone to ask when they would be out, and we got various answers. They ranged from the cubs were out of the habitat resting to they were doing maintenance and they would be back soon. We spent a lot of time and energy going back and forth trying to see them for the majority of the day (off and on from 11am-3pm) only to be disappointed in the end. Otherwise, the rest of the zoo was great!

My family loves going to this zoo. The exhibits are good sized, where the animals have some room to actually roam around a bit. And feeding the giraffes is always a win with the kids. We also went to the zoo lights for Christmas and it was spectacular. Some people think it's too much money but when you think about where that money is being used, it's a great cause.

Went during a weekday, park was nice and clean. Not all the animals were available. A few signs said the shows run during the weekend. Also, use Dallas Zoo Parking on google maps to find the correct entrance. Just using Dallas Zoo brings you to the rear of the park which is a neighborhood.

Decent zoo. Not the biggest I've been to but has a good Savannah area and kid area. The kid area has a cute river system for the kids to splash around in. Taking a second pair of clothes is a good idea if your kids like to play in water.

This zoo is awesome and cool I like it favorite zoo in Dallas I had some great memories here back in the early 2000s I remembered back in the early 2000s when I used to go to Merrifield elementary school in Duncanville when I was little the school Merrifield field elementary would take us here for a field trip and it was fun and cool I also remember another time going here when I was little back in the early 2000s my mom and her ex boyfriend took me and my sister here and it was fun and I also remember another time when my dad took me and my sister here and it was fun and cool to we got to ride inside the monorail that they had where it shows you more of the animals and plus the viewing of the downtown Dallas skyline. Great zoo great memories miss everything and all those years of the early 2000s coming here miss them day's

1st time in Dallas. Trip to Zoo was amazing loved feeding the Giraffe worth every dollar. I prepaid for parking & tickets entry into zoo was smooth & quick the zoo closed at 4 we weren't rushed out got to tour the whole zoo in 2 hours. Ice cream & shaved ice was good . Gift shop staff was nice. Honestly all the staff i encountered were nice. Good social distancing in place.

Despite the warm autumnal weather, it was a pleasant visit to the zoo. There were tons of trees that provided a lot of shade and there are a few buildings with A/C where you can take a break from the heat. All the animals appear to be very well cared for and in good condition. I loved the animal shows and seeing their positive reinforcement techniques at play. From a marketing standpoint, I've never seen a place more Instagrammable without being over-the-top in-your-face. I loved the if/then series and the featurettes under the tunnel. A perfect way to get people to market your product for you while also providing inspiration and hope for the future. Probably my only qualm was the way overpriced food but hey, it's convenient and everyone's gotta make a living, right?

  • 4/5 Michelle S. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful zoo. Unfortunately about 1/3 of the park was closed. Many of the animals were not in their exhibits. Despite that, it's a well maintained zoo with super friendly staff.

Used to go here almost every year as a kid and coming back many years later as an "adult" truly makes me appreciate all the amazing times I had here as a kid. This place is perfect for family and kids! Tons of animals to watch and also tons of other fun activities (animal exhibitions). If you live in the Dallas Metroplex Area and have never been I recommend setting a future date to visit with friends and family!

Great Great Great for kids. Temperature was our friend the day we went. I can imagine it would be rough on a hot summer texas day. Bring water and buy tickets in advance is what signs said. We walked right in. It was a Cowboys home game though that Sunday. Wasn't too packed and the staff didn't herd us around like cattle which I enjoyed. We were free to explore everything. It took about 4 hours to walk the whole zoo and my 7 year old loved it.

Lots of animals, also lots of people. There were kids EVERYWHERE for the first half of our visit. It was a bit overwhelming at some points to get around people. The animals and exhibits were really cool and many animals we're active and fun to watch.

We love doing to the Dallas Zoo it's close to home and it's always fun to see all the animals they have, and learn much from them, somehow we always find something new with our family. We did the Holiday Lights drive thru for 2021. It is a great way to keep your family safe during covid and still see beautiful lights. If your kids really want the max experience I would recommend having them sit on the left side of the car. There are more light designs on the left but both sides are so pretty! At the end there is a Santa that the kids can see, some snacks and adult beverages. And the staff walking around to help take full family photos

Overall, it’s a really cool place, I would recommend going in the morning. Food was pricey but definitely worth the price, the steak house I recommend. There were lots of animals, hippos, elephants, monkeys lots more too. You’ll at least spend a good 3-4 hours here, great for family! Recommend 10/10 on a good day.

  • 5/5 Kenna W. 1 year ago on Google
We went in the winter during penguin days and the tickets were amazingly cheap for a zoo of this size! I also appreciate that you don’t have to go through the gift shop to exit like a lot of zoos. There are a good variety of animals and enough trees to keep you mostly shaded. My kids really love the awesome kids area with the lazy river and petting zoo.

  • 5/5 T A. 1 year ago on Google
I've been attending this zoo on and off for years, and it feels like every time I return it's better than the previous visit. The pathways are always clean, open, and easy to navigate. Even during busy/high traffic times, there is space to dodge families, strollers, and wagons. I am super appreciative that the zoo lets you bring in a picnic and your own water. There is food on the premises to purchase, but with those with dietary restrictions, this little bit is super helpful. And there are plenty of spots to sit and eat. The whole picnic area is very well shaded! And I am super thankful that the staff here is is still enforcing masks for their team and trying to keep customers informed. Having those precautions in place is very important and I'm grateful that they are still taking Covid seriously. And their staff should be commended for their patience. Several people complained about the birds being off display - the bird flu is going on and people don't read/listen/watch the news apparently. Most zoos have removed birds for safety. I watched one woman berate a zookeeper as if they have control over the bird flu. The zoo's kind & knowledgeable staff, as well as the commitment to the safety of their guests & the animals will have me return as a repeat customer.

I go here all the time. It's always a fun experience for the kids. They have upgraded the food over the years. We also love the splash area in the children's zoo. We went this year to the dinosaur experience it was cool but the walking was a workout. I really enjoyed it in years past and I wish they would do it again with the shuttles through the dinosaur exhibit. It feels more like you're in Jurassic park and makes the experience more enjoyable especially when it's 90°outside and your sweating bullets. I have a membership. I always recommend the membership because it is worth it if you go even twice a year it pays for itself.

This is a good place to spend your day with kids or family. The zookeepers and scientists are well informed and share enough information if you are interested in knowing more about the animals. All the animals are healthy, kept neatly and have great spots to view in peace. Make sure you reach early to enjoy it the entire day since there's a lot to view and enjoy. Most evenings they have live performances too which starts at 7pm.

  • 5/5 Tiffany B. 11 months ago on Google
We really loved our trip to the Dallas Zoo. The exhibits were quite nice and the animals were so active during our visit. We also explored the Destination: Dinosaurs exhibit, which was so fun--with interactive dinosaurs, a dig site, and some fun displays! The food at the grill was good, and prices were as expected for the zoo. You are able to take your own drinks and food in though! In total, we spent 4 hours exploring, but we could have easily spent another 2-3 hours.

Felt like most zoos I've visited. No special experience that I got out of visiting here. A good one time visit. Has enough dining options and areas to rest. Recommend taking the tram if it's during the weekend as it stops right outside the zoo.

Pros: - Lots of misting fans to cool off - Paintings by animals available to purchase - Penguins and Otters were playful and adorable - Really enjoyed the bird feeding, they were cute! - The kids play area with the little river was nice. Cons: - A lot of missing animals/closed enclosures. - Didn’t have great enclosures for many of the animals (felt small and sad) - Paper map is not very useful and hard to use.

  • 4/5 Fawn L. 6 months ago on Google
The animals are mostly happy. You can tell the workers love the area they work in and give information in that area. However, the food in the flamingo area kind of sucked. And I wish I could go back there and tell them how to properly cook a chicken. But I can't.

  • 5/5 Michael H. 6 months ago on Google
A fun day at the zoo AND an effective on-site NRPA tour regarding private/public partnerships, community engagement and mission. We were impressed by the large Savanah area and the whole layout of the zoo. It’s the largest zoo in Texas and an awesome one for families to learn and play.

  • 3/5 C S. 5 months ago on Google
It was an alright experience. The kids petting zoo was pretty disappointing. There were only 2 goats out to pet and they only allow one group at a time to go in. Giraffe feeding was also closed. A lot of the exhibits are rather small for the animals in them like the elephant enclosure. Each section is pretty spaced out from the next so unfortunately we only made it halfway through before they were rushing out the gate because it was closing time. There were a few different attractions like the carousel and train which are kid friendly however the prices are not unless you’re a member.

  • 5/5 Alex S. 5 months ago on Google
I love visiting the zoo and do so on a regular basis. Parking is inexpensive, but there is also a DART rail and bus stop right by the main entrance, so I take the Red Line from Plano and avoid having to drive in Dallas. The zoo has a very easy to navigate layout, and you can visit all of the animals in a single day trip without having to rush. The front restrooms next to the gift shop have been redone with pretty painted murals. Restrooms are all clean, except you'll want to pass on the ones across from the Station One office (in the atrium by the bridge to the flamingos). Not much airflow in there... All of the animal habitats are well kept and clean, and the animals get new toys/enrichment cycled every day. The workers are all friendly and eager to answer questions you might have about the animals (or just how to get to a restroom or food stand). There are stands with pretzels, drinks, ice cream, and other snacks. There are also larger eateries on either end of the zoo. Prices are what you'd expect for a zoo or theme park, but the Dallas Zoo also welcomes visitors to pack their own snacks/lunches. We usually bring sandwiches, snacks, and water bottles, and then we'll pick up a lemonade or soda from the Zoo North food court. There are special events throughout the year and member mornings every month. The holiday Zoo Lights event is a fun evening activity for the family. Some of these activities are special ticketed but definitely worth it—and it's a big boost to the zoo to continue their breeding and conservation activities. Memberships are available, and an annual membership is cheaper than two visits, so it's really the best way to go. If you fall in love with the zoo, there is also a very dedicated volunteer program that would love to have you. You can join the nutrition teams in preparing diets in the morning, learn about the animals in an area to be a guide to others visiting the zoo, or even lend some elbow grease to assisting the keepers with making sure the habitats are clean and the animals are fed.

  • 5/5 Vanessa P. 5 months ago on Google
I thought it could’ve been a little cheaper most of the zoo is closed off. also buying tickets online is more money. There where No animals to see just the Christmas lights. First time ever to the zoo here will come back next year during the day. Was a little disappointed. This was also a first time night time so i didn’t really know what to expect. Still very pretty was is worth a $100 bucks not really.

  • 5/5 Jim H. 5 months ago on Google
Well run zoo, clean, animals well cared for. During hot summer months the animals are more active in the mornings. A membership is a great value for families as well as people who host visitors from out of town. The zoo is a great place for a morning walk at any time of the year.

The zoo itself was fine. Getting there, not so much. We waited a total of 2 hours to get from the exit for Marsalis Ave, until I actually parked, because it was so backed up. My four teens and two infants got out and walked to the zoo because it was such a long wait. Even crowded, though, we got to see the animals we came to see, and didn’t have too many issues getting through the crowd.
