Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center

Fitness center Sports complex Swimming pool Summer camp Swimming facility

😠 Only 2/3 of the pool is ever open, good luck trying to get a lane when there is a meet or swim practice. Recommend dedicating one section to paying customers. Not sure what I’m paying for if I can’t ever use the pool. People often mention pool, kids, swim, room, time, nice, area, staff, great, facility,

This is one of the worst establishments I have ever done business with since we PCS’d here to NOVA eleven months ago. As one other reviewer said- Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center are only after your money. This is not a family friendly center where families are their core priority. We had our son registered in their Soccer and Swim programs- which were both a misuse of our time and money. The Soccer instructor primarily had the kids age (3+) doing independent play, there wasn’t any structure, nor any real soccer curriculum being taught. Regarding the swim lessons for our daughter, the swim instructor was a new teacher each week and taught the same exercises each week (which involved singing around in a circle). Never did any of the teachers move on with some sort of age proper curriculum. I had a very nice conversation with the General Manager after several weeks of observing these programs and addressed my concerns. Instead of keeping my account in freeze mode I wanted to terminate my membership with the center. He understood and agreed and credited us for the remaining weeks of both programs, and we thought all was well and done. Well, starting February we started receiving monthly charges. However still living bi-costal, dealing with 2 kids in college, covid ripping through our intermediate and extended family and winter storms- we didn’t notice the charges until April. I called several times and emailed trying to reach someone. I didn’t receive any return messages nor replies to my emails. I finally drove there and spoke to Christy (in accounting) directly. She said she would investigate my situation. During that wait time they actually charged us for another month (May) before closing our account out by June. Christy mentioned the GM (General Manager) did remember having a conversation with me about wanting to drop the soccer and swim programs, but he didn’t remember discussing discontinuing indefinitely (obviously selective memory). Therefore, they would not be able to credit us for the 4 months they charged us. I told her we couldn’t afford to pay for months of services we did not receive- that again we are a military family with 5 children, and that we are a one income household. Her heartless reply was “so are a lot of families in this area”. So essentially, my situation meant nothing to her. This is a ruthless, cold-hearted, inhumane person and center- that takes money from hard-working families and gives you nothing in return. Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center has zero integrity and loathsome customer service. Please take your business elsewhere.

Recently went to the center because some friends of ours were having a kids birthday party. The staff was very friendly and answered all of the questions I asked of them about the place. The kids birthday party was completely done by a group from the staff, from setting up the birthday party room, serving pizza to everybody, to playing various games like dodge ball, and flag football with the kids (and parents). There is plenty of parking since it sits near the Embrey Mill Soccer Fields. There is a 50 meter competition pool, a recreation pool and a heated wellness pool and they all sit next to each other and can be seen from the 800 seat capacity room. There are other things you can do if you choose not to go swimming there is a basketball court, or a fully equipped training room. Plus there is a snack bar if you get hungry. Why 4 stars??? Well we live in Spotsylvania and that is over 28 miles away so this is better suited for those that live in the Stafford area.

SWIM MEET EVENT REVIEW: This review is for swim meet experience. So much to like about this venue, great amounts of parking space, numerous inexpensive hotels and food options within close vicinity, and the facility itself is really top notch. Chlorine levels and air quality was the best I’ve ever experienced in a meet of 700+ swimmers. Good staff doesn’t get in the way, but always ready to help. Diving well onsite. Probably only complaint would be that the center pool isn’t set up well for short course, would be better for spectators that way.

Prob the busiest facility within 20mile radius. If you're into packed gyms and packed pools struggling to find a piece of equipment or swim lane, then this is your place. Otherwise go somewhere else. I regret paying the one time fee of $99 for signing up for the $49 a month membership. Gave 2 stars because it is a nice facility just very over crowded and they have no sauna or steam room... definitely a profit modeled facility only...sad

Close at 5pm on Saturday! It's not like your weight room employees do anything. They sure don't tell the roving bands of of underage children to put their weights back or wipe down the machines. I've seen kids as young as 10 alone in there. No notification sent when billing changed or new membership cards were required but the ladies at the front desk will lie and say they were. Can't even I stall a suit dryer. Management is a joke.

I would not recommend this place for many reasons. First the place lacks cleanliness. I have noticed that people that work there and members always come down and get reinfected with covid. That is why there is such a big turn over in staff . The place is very mismanaged and the availability of the needed facilities for disabled persons is non existent. I happen to need to swim in their tiny wellness pool. They have limited hours to use. It is used for rentals and classes. The schedule means nothing You can go there when the pool is supposed to be available and it's closed because lifeguards don't show up. When they show up they have 3 sitting in the main area one monitors both pools and the other two sit at the desk playing video games on their phones and blasting their what they consider music over the loudspeaker for everyone to entertain themselves. They have according to them a stipulation in their agreement that you must sign of 60 days notice before your stop paying. Quite frankly there are many choices in the area that offer good service and conditions and equipment without the aforementioned problems.

Such an amazing establishment that rewind by bad Management. A few months in now & I was lucky to use the deep water once. But we all remember during the tour time they told you the pool is yours ( Yea right )so my advice is to Hit the church a few Sundays & pray to God for an open line during your visit. Don’t be shocked if they walk into you and ask you to leave because the line is closed. How do I trust a lifeguard who is not in the mood to listen? lying to your face & when you spot him he refused to give his name. The attitude is horrible at the pool section (lifeguards look unhappy) so you will feel it back on you. Promised to take your consideration to avoid such behavior in the future. again nothing happened Not a single form of apology for the unprofessional behavior of the super golden lifeguard boy who is not trained to work for the public sector ( zero training ). In the end, so many things you may notice during your visit & so many concern, but it's shame to know nothing will change, meantime the swimming team are happy that's all that matters.

Overall a really nice place. The only problem with the pool is that it's a competition pool so pretty much 3 out of 4 weekends a month it's completely booked up with swim meets. The recreational pool will be open sometimes during meets but there's only like 8 lanes so it can fill up quick. I'll probably keep my yearly membership (even though they just increased the price) because it's a great option when outdoor pools are closed and I need to train, but it's getting hard to justify it to myself. The gym, locker room, and activities/clubs they have are pretty awesome.

I’ve been a member at the Rouse Center since it first opened and I’ve watched it go downhill every year. The young teenagers in the gym are appalling and management doesn’t do anything to mediate the situation. These kids come in wearing the most inappropriate attire, never keep their shoes on, curse, talk about women in the gym, and rough house one another. This gym has always had elderly members and how they behave can be dangerous to the other members. I will say some of the Staff does work hard and is easy to talk to, but Management has got to get a hold on these teens and their behavior, gym etiquette, and length of time they spend there sitting/socializing. I’m glad they have a safe space to be in, but not at the expense of the other members. Additionally, the equipment is in such a mess… everything is ripped and broken, off balance, etc. For paying the same amount of money per month as One Life (actually more), it’s quite a shame. I recommend an enforced dress code, anyone under the age of 18 not permitted in the weight room unless a parent is present, code of conduct enforced, and a time limited of 3 hours daily permitted in the weight room.

Good size indoor pool perfect for kids. They also have the mushroom for kids which the kids enjoy. Staff are always nice. I also like the smoothie place inside although pricey.

Fantastic place. I got there for the gym, and it is just enough for a good workout. And their pool is huge

We had my son's 5th birthday party here. We had a great experience; the employees had everything set up when we got there, the food was ready on time and they were great with refills on the drinks. They also were very helpful with anything we needed, i.e a cake cutter, lighter for candles, etc. There are games (board and video) and a tv available for use, and everything was clean and well-run. The pool was great and the kids had a wonderful time. Very reasonably priced too.

Really nice facility with great outdoor fields around it. Everything feels like a high quality experience. When there is a swim meet those concession workers are slammed but they grin and bear it. The pool is awesome. The scoreboard seems to have some issues to fix. I was timing and the posted time wasn't very close to mine or the other timers.

Very nice complex, however, the weight and cardio room is not nearly big enough for the amount of people that go there.

Nice center, the only issue we have is the kids pool area Splash, most of the weekends and after 4 on weekdays it is closed, we got the membership so the kids can go to the pool. I’m thinking to cancel it sometime soon.

Racist staff. Poor customer service. Small weight room, barely any equipment. There are better gyms in the area and a new one being built in the Embrey Mill Town Center.

Overall, I'd say its pretty good. It has 2 pools, which are the rec and competition pools. However, it may be hard to find lanes on weeknights and weekends due to Swim teams and swimming lessons. The basketball court is also nice to shoot some hoops when its cold outside. the gym is a pretty basic small gym full of your average workout equipment such as treadmills. They also have free childcare, which is nice for busy parents (Not me). Another one of the many amenities is the cafe which for some reason has milkshakes now? and they also have many more amenities and programs which are too many to count.

We love being members of Jeff Rouse. The staff is amazing. I am very grateful for little dragons karate as they have dramatically increased my 7 year olds attention span and focus. I am also very grateful for all he has learned in their group swimming classes.

Definitely one of the most best aquatic centers in the area. Nice conventional workout areas however truly excels in aquatics and outdoor facilities.

Nice facility. There is a concession stand in the space and quite a bit of parking. I especially enjoyed the seat backs in the bleachers. Makes it nice for swim meets.
