Awesome trails, huge beach with sugar sand. You can see the Barnegat lighthouse and LBI. The fishing is so fun. You can drive a 4×4 on the beach with permit. Kyaking and canoeing has a special area to go out on the water. There is even a place for swimming and a really nice beach house for bathrooms. I've been coming to the Island for years spending the summers and this was the first time exploring the park. Truly amazing.

Unfortunately when I visited they were not fully open, but from what I could see just walking around the area it was beautiful. You do definitely want some bug spray however.

PRO: You'll learn about the history and the flora and fauna of the area. Very nice volunteers. Restroom is decent. A short trail to the beach is also there (it says 2miles but its less than that). Very relaxing and informative. CON: Small and some of the artifacts are deteriorating--probably need more funding/support. Having a giftshop might help with that. RECOMMENDATION: Nice place to take a break, relax, learn & interact w/ the locals [volunteers].

I like this location even though I haven't been inside because it's a great spot to walk to Oceanside and bayside.

Island Beach State Park is a beautiful place to visit! This time of year their are hundreds of Butterflies. There is a yellow flower that blooms in the fall and the Butterflies feed on it before they migrate south. What lovely site to see! Also, the restroom facilities are very clean. I recommend visiting Island Beach State Park during the off season.

The nature center has a variety of things to interest kids and adults- tanks with fish, turtles, and a snake, touch and feel exhibits, ect. There is an outdoor kids area/trail and paths leading from the center.

Very informative information in the Interpretive Center. The volunteer was not friendly.

👍👍 September 2022 Edit, I need to get back here when there are swans! Daybreak on the land while listening to 9/17/72 Playing in the Band. June 2022: Bummed I missed what was probably a stellar sunrise this morning, but it was peaceful here and I think I might return. Thanks.

👍👍 This is the best bay beach. It's free, clean, and a life guard during the summer! Can't bring your dog unless you stay by the playground. The playground has a giant pirate ☠ ship. Also has picnic tables. And plenty of benches to sit and watch the boats going in and out of the bay. Pretty much someth...

👍👍 This is a really nice park. My dog and I love coming here and walking around. There is a lot of open space to run around and play fetch, or sit in the shade at one of the picnic tables.
