I and my family was at your restaurant what a disaster. Steak had sinew through it ,bbq ribs were half cooked on one side , chips were black and raw , chicken croutons 3 small pieces to the plate my fish was nice but it was that and a load of peas and couple potatoes there was 14 of us. We had to go and look for staff who were sitting in the office we wanted menu for pudding she came and just put menu on table never gave them out which we had to do .not very happy with service I paid 400 pound for this disaster of a meal and was embarrassed for my company

A brilliant two night stay that we had last weekend. Front of house staff, lovely and helpful. Cleaners, lovely and through. Food was spot on punches well above its weight as a hotel. Paul and Tracy would like to thank you all again, our 5th stay now. The haggis we took home always goes down well with the family! Fully recommended!

We stayed over here for one night as my partner was doing the 100 ultra and I have to say the room was absolutely gorgeous (room 14!) an amazing picture window. We also had breakfast and the service and food were both fantastic. Cleanliness second to none. I also left my charger behind in the room and they have been kind enough to post this on to me. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We went for tea whilst on holiday, after being reccomend by family and driving past and thinking wow! Staff we friendly and helpful when we went to book table. My food was lovely and really enjoyed but sadly my husband ordered steak and ale pie.... pie should be used very very loosely. It should be described as steak and ale casserole with puff pasty dumpling. Still tasted lovely just not what we were expecting!

This is a beautiful building, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.  The quality of food at breakfast and dinner was outstanding.  There is so much venturing to be done around the borders, it's lovely to know that you can you come back to some delicious food and relax in one of the bars.  Our room was really comfortable and everything was so clean.  Parking is really easy on site as well, making it a perfect stay.  Highly recommend!

Had the pleasure of visiting the hotel at a funeral function. Exceptional day with authentic atmosphere. Also visited for a family meal. The food was exceptional. Just love the old style building and ambience. Well worth a visit if tourist or local.

A stunning location and fine example of Scottish baronial architecture. Beautiful gardens. Had afternoon tea. The sandwiches were lovely. Sadly, the same couldn't be said for the cakes which had synthetic cream. Scones were dry.

I spent four nights there, and it is a stunning hotel. You have the feeling of being in an old movie. They attended to even the smallest details. The room was spotless and featured a fireplace, a sizable closet, an amazing chaise longue, and a large, ornate mirror. But there isn't a left or an elevator, so you have to carry your bags upstairs. When we arrived, nobody was there to assist us.

Best cooked breakfast I can remember. Beautifully made and delicious with coffee, tea and toast brought to our table. Exceptional in my experience.

We are just back from a lovely meal here. My mum treated me for an early birthday meal whilst we are down staying in the area. The service was lovely and the lady serving us was so nice. Food was amazing! We had the COCONUT, GARLIC & HERB BREADED CHICKEN GOUJONS, SALAD, CHIPS, CURRY & MANGO DIP and it was just so fresh and tasty. Cooked to perfection 👌🏻. We will most definitely be back when next in the area.

We stayed twice in the past and going back again tomorrow- it says it all! Absolutely stunning location, beautiful gardens, peaceful atmosphere, baronial architecture. Great for exploring beautiful Scottish Borders. Easy parking is a bonus. Room 14 is simply gorgeous- very spacious with traditional features, and an amazing picture window. We had a delicious breakfast, the service and food were both fantastic. Special thank you to amazing, friendly, attentive staff-service and cleanliness were second to none. Housekeeping ladies-you are the best- rooms are spotless, and you are the friendliest bunch! We were almost late for breakfast, however lovely Kasia and Shiona made us feel so welcome and we received the best service. Can’t wait for another relaxing weekend in this unique hotel.

Fine traditional hotel in wonderful setting. Staff very efficient, friendly and helpful. Super breakfast. Certainly not modern but very traditional feel with excellent large rooms. Cosy bar. Great for exploring the Borders region.

We had a lovely afternoon tea for a wedding in the original listed conservatory. Despite a dull start to the day the sun c came out and the conservatory was beautiful. Vines full of grapes gave a true outdoor feel and we are also able to move to outdoor seating. Staff were unobtrusive and a bell at the bar for service, though this us a short walk drin the conservatory. Only downside is female toilets are up a steep staircase unless you tour the building to get to the set in the main bar. As we were ambulant not a problem for us but could be for those less able. The food was absolutely delicious. Plenty of choice, all good quality and was nice and fresh

We stayed Saturday November 4th to see a group at the MacArts centre in the town. The room was large and very well appointed with everything you expect from a four star hotel. The staff were very friendly nothing too much trouble for them even bringing our drinks to us in the bar.We had an evening meal and a breakfast both of which were excellent. The only thing which was slightly disappointing was no late bar for residents but that's not every bodies cup of tea,no pun intended. We are returning to do some of the walking routes around the area,i would definitely recommend this hotel.
