Definitely a must-go place when visiting the Old Town. So sad that we came late on Saturday and had to visit without audio guide. Beautiful square with some lovely houses and buildings (some quite colourful). There are sometimes Buskers here singing or playing instruments. A few bars and restaurants and shops in the area.

Really beautiful renovated castle. Amazing to see inside. Book cheap tickets online. Free audio sets are included. Do make a stop on the inside restaurant. Very professional staff and delicious coffee and liquors.

The Royal Castle is the former seat of the rulers of Poland. Go inside and look at the royal apartments and the Throne Room. Pay attention to original paintings by Rembrandt and the canvases of Bernardo Bellotto, known as Canaletto, which were used during the reconstruction of Warsaw after it was destroyed in World War II. See also the Senator’s Hall, in which in 1791 the 3rd May Constitution was passed – the first constitution in Europe and the second in the world. At the end, enter the beautifully reconstructed gardens: the upper garden situated on the castle slope and the lower one at its feet where the river used to flow in the seventeenth century. Carefully recreated in the style of the 1920s and 1930s, it not only complements the residence but it is also an ideal place to relax. The huge lawn, flower beds, fountains and mazes created from several-metre high hedges will give you a boost of energy for further sightseeing. If you have more time, stay a bit longer to see the charm of the garden in the glow of the illuminations after dark.

A nice and rather big palace. Definitely recommend getting the audio guide, we went on the free day, so it wasn’t included by default. As a history nerd, I liked it quite a bit but it’s definitely not for everyone. Furthermore, the design literally forces you to go around the entire thing. So, you can’t just visit the rooms you like. Also, the bathrooms are not the best with sticky floors.

One of the must visit places in Warsaw. The castle is located just nearby Warsaw Old Town, very close to tram stops and can be easily accessed. The place is really nice and beautiful, nice architecture, it has been rebuilt since the war. Walk around and spend 2/3 hours here would be amazing.

Walking distance from old town, without the need for previous reservations, this castle is a must visit touristic place. After buying the tickets, you are handed a free user friendly audio guide. Description of the rooms, statues and the general information provided is short yet fulfilling and interesting for both adults and kids

Great place to learn about the royal history of Poland! There's plenty of museum workers who were helpful. Being handicapped, I was able to ask to use the elevator with no issues. Definitely grab the free audio tour guide if you're not part of a group. The adjacent gardens are beautiful and well kept. You even get to see a robotic lawn mower prowling about! Great way to spend a few hours!

I must admit, the exterior of this place felt kinda underwhelming before i went in, but boy, was i wrong. It is really beautiful and definitely worth the visit. In addition to a museums worth of art and artefacts, the state rooms were alone worth the visit. The whole place is meticulously maintained and taken care of. I would recommend not forgetting the audio guide because it provides lots of useful and interesting information about the place. I really love this kind of stuff, and this place did not disappoint at all. Also, the ticket price of almost 6€ is almost nothing for the hour something i spent there.

I was pretty impressed. It is a self guided audio tour. A lot of information. Many artifacts to see. Most impressive collection of art I have seen so far in Poland. Definitely worth it. Short wait to get in. You are not rushed at all. Take as long or as little as you like.

Very beautiful place to visit. ISIC card holders can get a discount. Coat room available and backpacks must be left in coat room as well. Appropriately sized museum that can be completed at your best convenience. Hourly guided tours and audio sets included in price of ticket. A must visit in Warsaw.

Great experience, audio guide in many languages is included in ticket price! This place is nice if you want to get an understanding of what traditional Polish royal palace looks like (because castles/palaces in other cities look quite similar). Great pieces of furniture, costumes, arts — feels like you dive deep in the history… ah, yeah! Keep in mind, that the castle was destroyed and build from a scratch and saved remainings in the 1970-s.

Impressive castle with exquisite reconstructions of all the rooms and furniture within. There are incredible intricate details everywhere, and the audio-guide describes every room with its history and everything that happened in the castle. I recommend visiting this royal historical place if you come to Warsaw.

This castle does not look like what you would normally expect a castle to look like but it is still a stunning piece of architecture and a really large building to walk around. During Christmas there is a nice tree making it festive and the surrounding area is very lively and busy.

This is the most famous landmark in Warsaw you shouldn't miss to meet and absorb their long time history which hides each brick in their architecture building. Although most of the buildings were destroyed from World War II but we can significantly watch how the sacrifices of Polish people tried to rebuild them as similar as their old ones again. Moreover I've visited at Christmas time so I'm impressed by their decorations on the Happy New year theme. There are many cute views to take beautiful pictures. However I felt that both souvenirs and food & beverage prices are horrible high so their inflation seems to be worried because only some tourists can buy. Maybe their Government should revise thinking again to please and welcome tourists more I hope so.

When i saw there, it is fascinating and so interesting place. The garden and the indoor objects, goods, uniforms of the soldiers, and especially books are so attractive. I am interested in Polish history and that was perfect idea to going there. When I visit the garden, there is opening another door in your mind. The beauty of garden is incredible. I am glad having a chance to see that amazing place.

I was super excited for this visit, as many friends recommended it to me. I definitely wasn’t disappointed. The castle is gorgeous and it’s located in the old town of Warsaw. I went durning the weekday, so I completely skipped queues and large groups of people. The only thing I’ve noticed was plenty of security guards around the castle, but these were due to presidents visit! Other than that, the there’s a great selection of tours which are self guided and you can really take your time. I went to the “Botticelli tells a story” exhibition, which is available until 18th September. Then I went back to buy the ‘royal tour’ which stole my heart. The castle is stunning and the audio set tells you more about the history of the building! Another bonus is that many of the staff speak basic English, so if you need help they are there for you. The reason for 4 and not 5 stars, was the unpleasant attitude of the lady selling tickets… 😕

Most wonderful and Magical place during the holidays. So many happy and friendly people. Amazing food and old time building's has a fantasy, or a Disney story book feel. A must visit. Very romantic place to take your love of your life.

It’s more or like the other Castles.. took around an hour to visit.. Ticket price is 50 PLN and I really liked the Audio guide here. As soon as you enter the building, go to the right hand side and get tickets there and then go towards left hand side (straight from the ticket gate) to enter in the castle. Now, you’ll meet a friendly staff who will guide you further.

We almost gave this a miss. Please make sure you see it. The story of the preservation of pieces of this building by the everyday man under the unseeing eyes of the occuping force is incredible. Not one for audio tours, this one is worth it as you can control how much and what you listen to. Everything you see has been painstakingly recovered and reconstructed.

Suggested to check the opening hours on the official website.Especially during Xmas and NYE,many museums are closed. The opening hours on goole map is not accurate,no matter the museums and restaurants. The tickets mainly divided into two types, one is the regular Royal route and another one is the separate tickets for some exhibitions and galleries. Chose the regular Royal route ,it is quite comprehensive, including the audio guide and provides in different languages. A lot to see in the castle, estimated to send an hour or two to look around.

Great places with so many people and great cheap shops around, worth taking a photo around too! There is a unique tour for only 120Z where a horse carries you around and you see the whole area, pretty cool and beautiful. The horse is also pretty big too for some reason and looks really healthy. Overall 5 stars because no police stopped me or whatever while walking around. There is no free WC around by the way.

Stunning Medieval castle in the Old Town of the city that has been serving as residence for a couple of important polish figures (kings). It's located on market square & easy to find. The best way to approach it could be by walk, bike or public transport, however it's surrounded by busy roads & nearby some parking spaces. Recommended to visit.

In this museum, you can get an idea of Poland's near and distant history. Palace life and the history of Poland were tried to be introduced with various documents, tables and clothes. There is a free tour opportunity on certain days of the week.

The staff was rude, especially ladies selling tickets. The arrows on the floors are misleading and very much not clear. Ridiculous rules of carrying back pack on the front. Why? The rooms are huge and there is no possibility to touch a thing anyway. The direction of visiting ends in the gardens. From there we couldn't find an exit. The rooms inside were beautiful. Shame that working there ladies were so grumpy and unpleasant.

(Translated by Google) Even though the castle was rebuilt in the 1970s, you can feel the spirit of pre-war Warsaw in it. You can mainly admire the paintings, but there will also be items that are part of the castle's equipment or, for example, weapons. The service is a bit rude and the ladies who watch the rooms look as if they were there as a penalty, but in general it is worth seeing the Castle only maybe on Sunday when the entrance is free;) (Original) Zamek mimo że odbudowany w latach 70tych to czuć w nim ducha przedwojennej Warszawy. Głównie można podziwiać obrazy ale znajdą się też rzeczy będące częścią wyposażenia zamku czy np. Broń. (Translated by Google) The Royal Castle in Warsaw is a place of remembrance, a place that lives with history - in fact it is history. These walls, although restored, remember more than a few generations. They are a kind of witness to certain events that we as a nation should never forget. When it comes to access, the Old Town can be easily reached from all sides, whether by public transport or by car. Great place with many attractions nearby. The castle is restored nicely and full of original exhibits. It’s nice that they have a free entrance on Wednesdays, and there’s actually not that much people, so you can easily enjoy the visit avoiding the crowd. Some rooms are closed for the unknown reasons, but it’s still a huge place, so I doubt that you would even want to visit that many. Definitely would recommend visiting, even knowing that they messed up some things in the restoration(mirrors, as an example :) )

The Royal Castle in Warsaw Visited on 29/9/2019 Situated in the Castle Square in Warsaw, at the entrance of the Warsaw Old Town. It is one of the most recognisable landmarks in Warsaw. The Royal Castle is the former seat of the rulers of Poland, but has been served as a museum. In September 1944 while the Warsaw Uprising was still going on, the Germans blew up the Royal Castle leaving it in ruins. Reconstruction was carried out in the years 1971–1984, to restore it to its original 17th century glory. This huge clock tower is 60 metres or 200 ft in height. It has always been a symbol of the Polish capital and source of inspiration for the architects of other buildings in Warsaw.

This was a great way to spend a couple hours. The audio tour provided way more information than I could retain. It was remarkable seeing the craftsmanship that went into remaking this castle. Keep in mind, most of what you see is recreated since the original castle was mostly destroyed and artifacts were removed. Despite this, it is still worth seeing and learning about the history.

The Royal Castle is must to visit when in Warsaw. We took the Royal Route tour and we were amazed by the details of the interior. The audio guide was very useful in learning about the royal residence. The place itself is very nice but there are several aspects that need improvement. The staff needs to learn to stop being hostile towards visitors. They have a bitter and sharp look on their faces like in the soviet times. The entry signs have to be more prominent outside the building so as not to confuse visitors where to buy the tickets and where to enter the castle. The entrance door to the building does not have the appearance of being grand and royal. Those working there should learn basic english.

I would recommend coming here, since the Royal Castle was a significant location in Polish history. There are about three exhibitions, the royal castle, and some art and temporary exhibitions. The ticket prices, however, are quite expensive compared to the other museums in the area. If you have been to more magnificent and renowned palaces such as Versailles or the Royal Palace of Madrid, etc., I would suggest to be there for the history, and not be too excited for elaborate and lavish interiors. Still, you should visit the Royal Castle.

OMGOODNESS!!! Was the best decision of the day. The cashiers were informative and super helpful, despite any language barriers. The audio tour was in 2 languages and available for kids in Polish (if your children can follow). Guides on the floor very attentive, and when special exhibits opened during our tour, they sought us out to make sure that we didn’t miss out. I love museums and have visited many globally. This one ranks in my top 10. Recommended.

If you only have time to visit one paid site in Warsaw, this is it. We booked the Royal Route and got to visit pretty much the entire castle. While the castle was relatively new (compared to how old the country is, since the castle was rebuilt after WWII), it was impressive to see how Poland was able to recover and rebuild the artifacts/furniture/paintings. The audio guide is provided and the entire tour last about 1.5-2 hrs.

Very beautiful castle in the center of Warsaw. During Christmas it had a very nice Christmas tree in front, songs and light projections on the building walls. It is worth a visit for sure.

I wasn't expecting such a marvelous experience after being told that the place was completely destroyed and then rebuilt in the 70's. Yet they did a fabulous job! The interior is magnificent and the stories that guides have for you will really grab your attention. Highly recommended even though we had very limited time.

I have visited many castles around the world, this is not the most exciting especially from outside, but there is plenty to see indoors and it has plenty of space to view with large crowds. They also have chairs for you to sit and admire if you need a rest. It's only 40 pln adult price for entry so you can't complain its good value for money. Well worth a visit

They're free to visit every Wednesday. We visited on the free day, but still not very crowded. Rooms are incredibly fancy. Most of the palace has damaged during WWII and restored after war. There were free lockers, that you can leave your bag or luggage.

It is the first Castle I am visiting so I was impressed. There is a lot to see and you would hear interesting stories as there is an Audioguide system. It definitely takes time, consider that. Don't make my mistake to look around in a T-shirt if it's not summer, because the air-conditioning in some of the halls makes you wanna leave early, and you should take your time and enjoy the atmosphere and the history of the place. You can see legends for the paintings, the sculptures, etc. Don't miss them, there are many interesting art pieces that deserve your full attention.

  • 5/5 Shreya M. 5 months ago on Google
It's a very big palace full of beautiful architecture. You can't imagine how they rebuild as it was before destruction during world warll. It's free entry on every Wednesday.

Venturing into the heart of Warsaw's Old Town, the Royal Castle emerges as a beacon of Poland's rich history, architectural splendor, and cultural heritage. My recent visit to this regal masterpiece left an indelible impression, showcasing the castle's beauty, meticulously organized layout, grandeur, the mastery of artisans, the tapestry of Poland's history, the opulent lives of kings, and the invaluable assistance of the audio guide. The beauty of the Royal Castle is truly captivating. As one approaches its meticulously restored façade, the intricate details and elegant symmetry command attention. The castle's architecture seamlessly blends Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements, creating a visual symphony that pays homage to Poland's storied past. Every facade, every courtyard, whispers tales of centuries gone by, making it a visual feast for history enthusiasts and architecture aficionados alike. The well-organized layout of the Royal Castle ensures a seamless journey through its hallowed halls. Navigating through the opulent chambers, grand halls, and intimate salons, I marveled at the thoughtful curation that brought the history of Poland to life. The thematic arrangement of exhibitions, coupled with informative displays, made the exploration both engaging and educational. The grandeur of the Royal Castle is nothing short of breathtaking. The Throne Room, bedecked in royal regalia, transports visitors to a bygone era of opulence and grand ceremonies. The Castle Chapel, adorned with stunning frescoes and ornate detailing, serves as a testament to the intertwining of religious and royal influences. Each room unfolds a new chapter in the castle's history, leaving visitors in awe of the scale and sophistication of Poland's royal past. The works of masters that adorn the Royal Castle are a testament to the country's rich artistic legacy. From the meticulously crafted furniture to the awe-inspiring paintings and sculptures, the castle serves as a repository of Poland's cultural wealth. The attention to detail and the skill of artisans from various epochs showcase the evolution of artistic expression, making the castle a living canvas of Poland's creative spirit. Delving into the history of Poland within the Royal Castle's walls is like stepping back in time. Exhibits narrate the nation's triumphs and trials, offering a comprehensive understanding of Poland's resilience and unwavering spirit. The castle serves as a living museum, inviting visitors to contemplate the historical tapestry that has shaped the Polish identity. The audio guide proves to be an invaluable companion on this journey through time. Clear, informative, and well-paced, it enriches the visit by providing additional historical context, anecdotes, and details that might otherwise be overlooked. The seamless integration of technology enhances the overall experience, allowing visitors to tailor their exploration according to their interests.

Another example of rich kings not knowing what to do with all the money they have. So they just spend it on their houses. Beautiful place... I especially liked the chapel inside the castle.

The royal castle is the grand icon of Warsaw. It represents the past and also the future of Warsaw. It is centrally located in the old town and it certainly symbolizes the power, strength and spirit of the people of Warsaw.
