You are a pirate! Easily one of the most memorable moments of our Gdansk trip, we didn't plan this at all but saw people getting on and we decided to hop aboard as well. Tickets are the same price as the more standard looking tour boats around although this one gets you an awesome tour guide who is not only super friendly, speaks German, English, Polish and even knew a few words of Swedish.. impressive guy! You also get a live microphone history lesson whilst travelling up the port of Gdansk to the Westerplatte monument. Also one thing to note is that this also acts as a ferry service so you can go to shore at Westerplatte by only mentioning that you wish to so, this allows you to walk around the monument and explore a bit, then reboard one of the future ships. Finally, the best thing... Live sea shanty music on the way back to port!! really awesome music that everyone can clap and sing along to. Oh! and a bar, so that you can order some Rum if you want to get the full Pirate experience! (Recommended). The price for tickets and drinks was really great, much cheaper than expected. The overall experience was awesome. The kids on board also seemed to enjoy pretending to steer the ship and shoot the cannons. You can get some nice videos and photos on this trip, I'd honestly go back to it again on my next visit here.

Nice ship. Overcrowded, not everyone would have a place. The tour wasn't bad but I was hoping for more. So. You can do it. But you don't have to

There was live music in the ship, we were also provided blankets ( it was cold that day). Alcohol was cheap, places were lovely on the deck of the ship.

Very nice thing to do. I would recommend going early to avoid crowds. Two things I didn't like: here and there it doesn't smell nice because of all the pollution flying around, and the second thing is that you are stuck with bunch of loud kids on every go, so not ideal if you like piece and quiet.

Ship is good and a good experience. We have reserved the trip cause we thought that it will be a bit in the sea with natural views. But actually it was the whole time just along the industrial harbor. For the price i find it does not deserve to try.

Gdansk, a beautiful city. Worth a trip, you really have to see it. The ride on the black pearl was beautiful. Many sights were explained in Polish, English and German. Great!!!!

Recommended by a friend and hes now no longer a friend. If you're a fan of cruising through an industrial ship yard whilst the promised English commentary comes out in Polish then go for it. I'm sure it translated as 1 hour of laughing at us! Gdansk itself is great though!

Lovely experience if you'd like to ship in a "pirate ship" from Gdansk to Westerplatte for example... The cruise took 30 min up and you were able to choose the returning time as you wish. However, it's most likely crowded on board. Drinks and food are served.

The ship and crew make this tourist attraction truely special. The views are splendid be it from the top deck or the covered lowered deck. The whole experience makes it a mandatory stop when visiting Gdańsk.

I didn't actually step on the boat, partly because I have a childhood trauma about pirates, partly because I get easily sea sick, and mainly because I walked by at night and it was closed. But I didn't let that stop me from voicing my enthusiasm about this floating wooden piece of engineering!

It'd be better to buy a ticket with a Westerplatte walk - it would cost the same 70 zł, but this way you can visit that historical place and moreover to get back to Gdańsk on the second ship (if you arrived on the Czarna Perła, the returning would be on the Lew and otherwise).

Easily one of the best highlights of the trip. Took the evening 7:30pm cruise was simply amazing. Going through the Baltic sea. Cafe is amazing. Prices are same as outside. The opening of the bridge and ambersky wheel. The scenic from the ship is all worth it.

Amazing experience!!!!!!! It was cheap for European overall prices for river cruises etc. We had a meal, which was great, amazing goulash soup. We had cocktails!!!! Also amazing! Yes it goes through mostly port, but its interesting to see all the ships and also its something Polish are really proud of, its also amazing for youngest passengers, my son really loved all the ships and the pirate ship itself. Plus there was a live music on the way back, we were lucky to take the last cruise of the day meaning we could enjoy the sunset with live music! ❤️❤️❤️🙌🙌🙌

Great activity and the best way to get to Westerplatte. Food and drink served on the outbound trip. They have atleast two ships. One will leave you very exposed to the sun with no shelter so be prepared for that on a hot day. It looks realy nice and has great views. They even had english translation of the tour audio. On the way back they had live music onboard. However only 4 stars because there were not enough seats for everyone, and it was very push and shove to get on due to the seat shortage (and the views would vary a lot depending on the seat you got).

  • 2/5 Kelvin F. 3 years ago on Google
The pirate ship looks really cool from the outside. But there are too many people inside making it hard to find a good spot. The worst part is that there isn't really much to see outside of the old city. Just old ship yards. Personally, it isn't worth the money. Would go for the paddle boats inside.

Great for kids to take the ride to Westerplatte and back. Free air seating is limited so you need to get places fast. According info ride to Westerplatte and back takes 90 minutes in reality its a bit more then 70 minutes

I would say a little below average. Nice service and fine trip om the river, but the historical experience is not that big. We paid 60 zlothy pr person for the trip and it was ok. They had good bottle bear and he porter was good... when you have done it you can say I have byen there 🙂😉👍

Decided to take the sunset time (8.30PM) turned out to be one of the more memorable experience on our very short stay. Went out to the Baltic sea to view the sunset and the Tri-city panorama. On the way back one of the guys started singing boat shanties (even thought it was in polish there were songs to sing along) making the vibe even better. It take 90+ minutes and is definitely worth it! Suggestion: to get the best seats get there at least 45min earlier.

  • 5/5 Jere Tulimäki (. 1 year ago on Google
We went to the sunset tour at 20:30 and it took about 90 minutes to sail from Gdansk to the Baltic Sea through Westerplatte and then back again to Gdansk. Loved the sea shanties, but i wish the singer would have sang even at least one song in english. Food and drink service was suprisingly fast. The atmosphere was beautiful near 22:00 because of the lights and water reflections. Good to know: the ship has a bathroom. Staff understood english.

Brilliant little boat trip this down the river in Gdansk, bar on board serving local drinks and light snacks and also live music, nice being on the upper decks in the sun, there is an audio tour on board as well, goes up and down the river and includes a stop off at Westerplatter where the 2nd world war began (museum there for this too), really good value this trip, highly recommend.

  • 3/5 Aleksandra C. 6 months ago on Google
The tour guide was really informative, and sailing was safe. It only goes through to the ship yard and charcoal yard. Try to go during the sunset 🌇. The price is high for this kind of experience, that's why I'm giving 3 stars, otherwise would be 4. But 80 zloty seems a bit too much for what you get.

  • 4/5 Vinod V. 1 year ago on Google
A must try in gdansk, it will take you to the westerplatte in just 30 minutes and you can roam and see around for 1 hour, and then come back and board the return ship back to the gdansk . Nice music and views of gdansk, the only thing missing in the ship was Captain Jack sparrow 😎

  • 3/5 Mirella M. 9 months ago on Google
I was disappointed with some of the crew. I was waiting in line to get on and my 11 year old daughter was right behind me. My ticket was checked and I started boarding and as I glanced back to check on my daughter I saw the crew person pushing her back (actually literally pushing pushing her!). I obviously got mad but we did not receive an apology and I still don't understand why she was pushed. She had a ticket in her hand just like me and was right behind me. Really unacceptable behavior! I'm sure my review won't change tourists from going on the trip and perhaps that's why the crew feel they can behave that way but I'm glad I can, at least, post my review.

Overall, good experience the ship was wonderful and the captain flawlessly sailed the ship. On board bar, a good and fairly prices. The live entertainment was a bit loud but still nice. Only real issues I saw was the ship halted short of the baltic sea. I kind of figured a few min would along the coast. We saw downtown Gdansk, ship yards, cargo containers, & the monument.

Great and unique tour to take to get a view of Gdańsk from the water. The tour takes you up to the the Baltic sea, through the shipping port. There is information about the city told over the speakers, there is also a restaurant on board. They drop you off at the end of the river where you can explore and take the the next ride back.

One of must do things in Gdansk and main attraction in Motlawa river. We can book tickets directly or online, there are quite lot of slots for each hour but it's capacity is less. Because of it's capacity better to book it in advance during weekends and summer holidays. Ship has bar restaurant and it runs to and from Westerplatte with journey time of 1.5 hours for both ways. While in cruise, they explain all establishment in shipyard and it's significsnce in English. We can book return either in same ship or in another one of our choice of timing. It's better to book after 2 hours as Westerplatte has a secluded beautiful beach which we can enjoy without any hurry. Similar ship is there in Sopot as well but it's just for 40 mins within Sopot and they charge same 70zl.

Very nice and smooth trip to Westerplatte located on the Baltic Sea cost. The all-black boat reminded me of the Pirates of the Caribbean film. Inside the boat there is a small bar to buy a beer or a glass of wine. It has tables to be able to make the trip comfortably until the island.

Took the boat to Westerplatte and back (55 zł). Really enjoyed it. On the way there, you'll receive some infos on the Gdańsk Harbour, shipyard and general surroundings of the route in polish, english and german, unfortunately due to the noise of the engine and accent of the speaker, quite hard to understand. I found it very worth it even just to see the Harbour outside of the city center, much of which is still in use for grain, coal, sugar and other goods. A bit touristic but would do again.

Like someone said -a cruise with nice views for first 10min then you travel through industrial zones of the port. Kids had fun, so ok for me. You can have some drinks and something to eat while onboard. There are 2 ships, both seem cool. The cruise takes a bit less than 1,5h.
