Amazing! So worth a visit. Learnt lots of interesting facts as well. Staff very helpful. We brought Amber jewellery here, which had been made in Gdansk and seemed to be at a much better price than other shops

Amber being the main attraction in Gdansk, amber museum obviously is one of must visit place. Museum is maintained very well and has a rich or elegant look. There are lot of artifacts in display made of amber like chess board, guitar etc. It's free of charge on Mondays and recommended to visit then as not big crowd is there. Also, it doesn't take too much time to cover.

This has been the absolute worst experience in the museum ever in my life. The exhibits are absolutely beautiful, but the arrangement of space is the worst I have ever seen. The absolute worst is the lighting design. You see the lights from the ceiling, from the exhibits themselves, and reflected in the floor and then hitting your eyes. You feel dizzy you feel discombobulated and out of space. You never get a break here. I am not autistic, I do not have sensory issues, but this space design is insane and made me sick to my stomach. When you look at a piece of amber, you see another piece of amber behind it, and then you see another layer of exhibits; there is not ever a break you see everything at the same time and it is a sensory overload. It’s an amazing place, beautiful pieces of amber but the design of the space, the stupidity of the lighting is the worst I have ever seen in my life. Koszmar!

Educative museum about amber. From history (creation and excavation) to modern souvenirs and jewelry from amber. They also offer an educative movies for kids so they can be entertained as well. Definitely recommend

An absolute must-see in Gdansk. Excellent selection of amber in all colors and shapes. They even have a gecko incrusted in amber. A lot of history, and a bit of multimedia. Monday's for free!

I’ve visited quite a few amber museums because I live on a Baltic coast and this one is great. Modern interiors in old historical mill building. Three floors, not too big or small. Perfect.

Personally I feel like there’s not much information given other than displays of different types of amber. The history and how it form, you would need to watch the tv screen. Monday is free admission. Will not pay to visit.

At first glance, it doesn't seem interesting, after all, these are just "stones". But I don't regret visiting this museum at all. In fact, I have to admit, it was one of the most interesting museums I've visited recently. Perfect mixture of modernism and ancient times. If you have an hour to spare, make sure you stop here. Highly recommended for young and old, too!

Worth a visit the displays are really good and give you a in depth knowledge of how American is formed over millions of years. They also have large numbers of samples of amber containing insects, leaves and other plant matter. The shop has large numbers of items for sale from low cost to very high cost, some of these are truly fantastic

This is the must see in Gdansk! Reduced ticket price for students: 25 Zloty There are 3 floors inside the museum and I must say it is very vibrant and beautiful. Every amber piece is unique and mesmerizing. There are some fun things to try out there. You can take beautiful pictures, also get info who and how produced amber and etc. It is not far away from the old town, it is just 10 minutes walk distance and is worth visiting.

The Amber Museum is excellent for children and adults, it is very interesting and you learn a lot about the subject. It has an elevator, perfect for those who require one. The works found in the museum are very impressive, I can not imagine the hours of work of the artists, the only bad thing is that many of the pieces do not have the name of the artist or year of production, from there on out everything is excellent. Fair price but it is recommended to buy a visit card to save the lines and payment in each museum. The visit card can be purchased at the information centers that are in the city.

Amazing museum. No boring stories, only great experience. Tickets are unbelievable cheap and there’s also free of admission day every Wednesday. Three floors of beautiful exhibits, both natural and handmade, which look stunning in the museum lighting. Also a big store downstairs, where everyone could find a little memorabilia for themselves. Would recommend visiting yourself.

If you like amber this is a good place to visit. If you are not super into amber, as a museum it is not particularly interesting. A well presented display which focuses mostly on showing all the pieces of amber they have. The top floor is the best one with some beautiful items made from amber. Good place to visit but you will not regret if you missed this.

Nice museum in an old castle, I personally found most of the museum a little bit bland but the 3rd floor and up were more interesting since they depicted fruits, instruments and other things as amber. I didn't find the museum very well adapted for smaller children since the objects were often out of sight for them. There were a lot of steps too which is to take into account. There's an extra 5 buck fee to get to the top and admire the view. Overall pleasing experience.

Monday's are free museum entrance. This museum is nice, but quite small. That is why we highly recommend to visit it on a free day Monday. Interesting amber specimens and history for adults, also interactive movies for kids.

If you are polish you're likely to have a more fulfilling experience than if you are a foreigner as most of the info is in polish. They have some really nice displays and for the little price it is to buy a ticket it's not bad, the extra 5 sloty to visit the tower is up for debate, it's really not a great view and there are other places that offer a greater view, but again the price is very low.

(Translated by Google) Museum with a very rich amount of exposure. You can learn a lot about amber and admire the stucco from the "Yantar". Drawings draped in the wall by prisoners are also a great plus. On the minus of the room spirit and paid view from the tower. It will be worth visiting the museum in Gdańsk.

Very interesting and modern museum. All information available in Polish and English. There are a few interactive stands and kids corner. Exhibition split to 2 floors. First floor tell story of where amber is coming from and how it was used through the centuries. Second floor have examples how amber is used in art and decoration. Highly recommend this museum for whole family.

Wow! This museum is so well curated and built. There are plenty of interactive digital experiences to further gain understanding. Simple videos are available to answer questions about how amber was formed, how inclusions occurred and how the ambers are found. Excellent polished museum on several levels with elevator of lockers for your bags.

Worth seeing. Very interesting. And beautiful. The only downside I would say its not the exhibition but how the walls and floors look really shiny and it does make you dizzy, and makes you question each step you take.

If you are planning to visit, Wednesday is free from entry fee. The place is great and you can spend an hour or two. You will find descriptions in both in polish and English. It is written that cannot take photos but the guy who works there said can take without flash.

Very interesting museum. I never knew all the colors and shapes in which amber is found. As you leave, the gift shop sells amber products but at high prices.

The Amber Museum is worth a stop. Free on Wednesdays, if you like that. As mentioned, the interactive displays are off due to COVID, but it's still worth while to visit if you like amber. Many fascinating pieces all displayed in an old mill. There is also a miniature cutaway of the mill as envisioned from back in the day. You can spend anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or a little more. We visited in November, had a school trip that was there and a few random folks, but not busy at all. Gift shop is ok, but there are plenty of amber shops in Gdansk, so unless you are pressed for time, don't think you have to purchase there.

A very nice museum filled with various ambers. It's quite small but worth to visit. Although, it's not worthy to pay for climbing viewing platform, better visit basilica.

  • 4/5 Piotr S. 2 years ago on Google
It has quite adorable collection and there was plenty of stunning pieces of amber. Yet, little did I learn here as the descriptions were scarce, and some pieces were at best described as "block of amber". I wish there was more about history (e.g. to whom did amber chess or desk belong, what's their history) and about amber itself (extraction, processing, etc). There's not much going on there.

  • 5/5 Frank M. 2 years ago on Google
Overwhelmingly reflective surfaces everywhere. The exhibits, however, we're interesting and informative. Everything you ever needed to know about amber.

Awesome museum. Very informative and a lot more modern than I was expecting! I assumed being a national museum it would have been open a long time and might not be particularly stand out, but it was actually a very good museum with interesting and interactive displays and a lot of cool objects. Also, we went on a Monday where you can go in for free (pro tip!) but if you don't have the option to go on a Monday the price is very fair for the experience you get and I would still wholeheartedly recommend it!

  • 5/5 Agnieszka Z. 1 year ago on Google
This place is a hidden gem. Tucked away in an old mill building is a very modern museum exhibit about all things amber. In April 2023, admission on Mondays is free which is great.

  • 5/5 Desley M. 11 months ago on Google
Brilliant museum. Lots of interesting artefacts and information about amber. The displays are over three floors, so stairs. There is an elevator. One of the most striking things is the high gloss black surfaces of the floors and walls which is very disorientating when you first enter although they do serve to set off the displays . There is a large shop selling amber jewelry and other items just inside the entrance/exit

  • 4/5 Christina V. 1 year ago on Google
Some museums are free on Mondays! We really enjoyed the amber museum. There’s a lot of info in English and so many specimens to look at. The lights on the reflective surfaces can be a bit tiring on the eyes, and I’m very happy that I had my ear plugs to block out the bouncing sounds from the school tour groups.

  • 5/5 Ioannis C. 1 year ago on Google
Mondays is free entrance. Amazing museum! The first floor goes on and gives you a background of earth history and how amber was formed and what historical eras we have amber fossils from. With many physical exhibits of amber. The second floor goes on about the local amber industry of Gdańsk and how that flourished in the past century. Again there are exquisite examples of amber work. There’s a shop with lots of amber jewellery but also some bigger maser items that I wish I could fit in a suitcase! A great historical museum, once you’ve had enough ww2 museums. The building that the museum is housed is also of great historical importance as it was captured by Teutonic Knights in the 14th century. Great visit all around.

A perfectly made exhibition will answer every question about amber. Its origin, use, acquisition and/or mining. One entire floor of the exhibition is dedicated to objects made of amber. The museum building itself, a former large mill, is also worth paying attention to, and a certain area is also dedicated to its history.

  • 4/5 Agge B. 6 months ago on Google

Todella ainutlaatuinen kokonaisuus.

Quite nice museum - the collection is bigger than I thought, it tells everything about Baltic Amber: its natural origins, and how its trade made Danzig develop into an important city. It presents everything from jewellery from different centuries, stones that contains fossil remains of bugs' bits and even whole bodies.

(Translated by Google) For removing the mask under the nose, the staff will want to burn you at the stake. It doesn't matter that there is no one in the exhibition hall except you, and the glasses fogged up from correcting the eye mask. In addition, do not count on any anecdote or help with the tour - the officers on each floor only guard the masks. For women planning to visit this place - I advise against heels - there are 5 floors of climbing steep and narrow stairs. Two stars only for the exhibition itself, because it is a local heritage and a piece of Gdańsk history, but the whole building is full of snobbery and stiffness enough to make you feel like an unwanted guest who should leave this place. In addition to the amber exhibition, you can also see three prison cells - at most through a glass pane, because apparently there were no female officers to guard the masks in these rooms.

Stood in the pointless un-spaced queue for over an hour. If you’re going to stop people from going into the museum in large groups because of coronavirus, at least enforce the 2m rule in your queue. Otherwise you are simply moving the problem from inside your museum to outside within the queue. Also spent 15 minutes of this time waiting for a staff member to finish his break. Has this place never heard of rotation? It’s a very simple principle I’ll be happy to inform you of. Never coming back or recommending this place to others, in fact I will try my hardest to deter people away from your pointless dis-organised museum. I feel I’d rather of come here in 1400s for it may have been under better management. Kind Regards, Mr Proudfoot

Unfortunately, a bit disappointing exhibition despite a new location in a beautiful old building of a former great mill. Museum has adorable but a small collection of raw amber, amber jewelry or amber decor. There should be more explanation about pieces on the exhibition. Moreover, there’s not much about amber itself like extraction or processing. Maybe multimedia cover this matter but due to COVID-19 it was switched off. Jewelry store on the ground floor is just a waste of space. There’s a houndred similar places next door.

Stałyśmy około 45minut i byłyśmy ostatnią grupą wchodzących, sporo osób musiało odejść).

(Translated by Google) A very nice atmospheric museum. We can find here both older and modern exhibits. What I liked the most was the floor with amber figurines. Beautiful views from the lookout tower. (Original) Bardzo ładne klimatyczne muzeum. Znajdziemy tu starsze eksponaty jak i nowoczesne. Mnie najbardziej podobało się piętro z figurkami z bursztynu. Piękne widoki z wierzy widokowej.

(Translated by Google) A place divided into several floors with various exhibits - from unprocessed forms of amber to contemporary beautiful products. If someone likes such atmosphere, it is worth visiting Gdańsk, if only for the sake of inclusions.

(Translated by Google) Some exhibitions are interesting, although some interactive elements could be used, the museum a bit boring. Low lighting. (Original) Niektóre ekspozycje ciekawe, aczkolwiek przydałyby się elementy interaktywne, muzeum trochę nudne. Oświetlenie słabe.
