For the same price as other museum that I paid to visit, this seems a bit underwhelming. I think this museum is targeted at specific groups of people and most of the tourists don't fall in this group. Though it does have some unique displays in there although what you see mostly overlaps with other museums of similar nature.

The house itself is a beautiful reconstruction but the so called museum is very poor in terms of curation and organization The price is 16zl which is exorbitant for hardly 20 minutes in the place, even if you try to milk it and want to absorb the beauty even more you can't spend more than half an hour here The curation is very bad as there are hardly any descriptions and those that are available are only in Polish with the exception of some stuff at the end of the tour

(Translated by Google) I encourage you to explore with a guide, a very interesting place that shows us the lives of richer people in the past. Asterisk less for very stiff service. If you don't know the history of the house, you won't learn anything from "protection". It is the place to visit with older children toddlers can often unconsciously touch something.

Uphagen House is located on St. Long 12 Street and is only restored in Gdansk with his middle-class apartment house design. At the end of XV century this place was built in brick building. Its relics are now in the basement of an existing building. In the following centuries, it often changed the property owners and the house had numerous transformations and finally in 1775 was bought and rebuilt by Uphagen Johann, a merchant, an amateur historian, bibliophile. After the death of building owner property remained in family hands and has survived almost intact until the early XX century. In 1911 the museum opened in the building interior, which operated until 1944. Then the upcoming actions against war were evacuated home decor and furnishings in the vicinity of Gdansk. In 1981 the house was given to the Historical Museum of Gdansk and in 1998 was open to the public. Museum was closed because of Covid-19 but I was at least lucky to see building from the back. It is much longer than others. After 2 world war the other buildings were rubuilt shorter and here you can imagine how it looked previously.

(Translated by Google) The interiors are nice, but to be honest I wasn't particularly enchanted. And the service (as in all branches of the Gdańsk Museum) is clearly oversensitive - I have the impression that visitors are intruders for the Museum who can destroy the exhibits. I took the children literally a few photos without a lamp against the background of historic interiors, objects and I still felt the eyes of "protection" on me, although children are well aware that in the museum you must not touch anything, lean against the exhibits, etc. Maybe more trust in visitors means mostly cultured people, demanding madies with ragged bombs or janusas do not come to such places 😉 (Original) Wnętrza ładne, ale szczerze powiedziawszy nie byłam jakoś szczególnie oczarowana.

It’s an old house, plain and nothing much to see. I went on a free admission day. It’s not worth paying money for it.

Okay for the price but not very impressive. Was expecting more about how they actually lived when the house was built, modern art placed between authentic pieces distracted from the history.

(Translated by Google) Can be visited during a break in visiting Gdańsk. Unfortunately, it is only an opportunity to walk around the historic tenement house, with a perfunctory amount of information about the residents and rooms - we certainly cannot count on a guide, audio guide or interactive boards. There is only information about the furniture on display - unfortunately, the tenement house was not well equipped.

(Translated by Google) I am rather disappointed. Object described as an 18th-century home, doesn't really have much to do with a home. There is very little furniture, most of which cannot be viewed closely, as they are separated by a barrier at the entrance to the room. It has no atmosphere, it is definitely not a time travel. The descriptions of the exhibits are also very poor, in fact there is no description of what life was like then, it is impossible to "feel" the atmosphere of a bourgeois home. The tiled stoves and the preserved parts of decorative plaster are the most beautiful and really worth seeing. (Original) Jestem raczej zawiedziona.

In this publicly accessible merchant Uphagen's house, one can see how houses in Gdańsk are built and how their interiors looked in the past. What at first glance looks like a narrow townhouse is actually quite a sprawling property.

Well, it was interesting to see and visit this place because I heard a lot about it. Great idea has been realized here and I really appreciate it. Some rooms like dinning room and "staff room" look more attractive than others. Especially my applause for wallpapers with nature scenes and for Uphagen (or Ophagen) family tree history. Btw inside you could find several clocks from London and so unusual XVIIth century wooden wardrobe. But at the same time couple of rooms look "lonely" and haven't enough "equipment" (just from my perspective of view). Anyway let's see this one, even on weekend I didn't see any lines for tickets.

This is by far the least interesting burgher house museum I've ever visited in Europe. Furniture and decorations are just put there, with only a single, very sober line of description. There's no insights into the period, etc. It could be turned into a great museum, but it needs a lot of love. In the current state, I'm not even sure why they recreated the house interiors and opened a museum. Took me all of 15 minutes to carefully examine everything on display. Only visit if you need to fill a little time and have a few zloty to spare.

More than three quarters of Gdansk was destroyed by the end of WWII and this house-turned museum was no exception. However time and effort was invested to restore the place to its original splendor. Most of the furniture on display date back in 18th and they are kept in the best condition; I had the urge to play the more-than-200-year old piano at one time to see if it still makes a sound. An fabulous exhibition of two amber art designer was also in the museum. The work of Mr. Przemysław Kuś on the single nugget amber was amazing.
