First seagoing ship built in the Polish shipyard after the Second World War. It used to be coal and ore freighter. Currently the ship is moored in front of the granaries as a part of National Maritime Museum collection. Visitors can access engine room, officers and sailors cabin and the bridge. #letsguide, #poland, #gdansk, #visitgdansk, #oldtown, #river, #motława, #motlawariver, #ołowianka, #greatviews, #waterfront, #museum, #ship, #secongworldwar, #nationalmaritimemuseum, #touristattraction, #landmark, #familydayout, #funforkids

SS Sołdek is a retired Polish coal and ore freighter and it was the first ship built in Poland after World War II and the first seagoing ship completed in Poland. Now it is a ship museum and you cannot miss it as it is really amazing experience to visit it. Ticket only 15 PLN.

This is a very nice self-contained element of the Maritime Museum dealing with the history of ship building at the Gdynia Shipyards aswell as the history of service of this Cargo ship carrying Coal & Iron Ore around Europe. It was launched in 1948 and decommissioned on 30th December 1980, serving 32 years. I normally prefer Naval Vessels as there's more to see inside the ship. As a cargo ship alot of the internal space is empty, but this constitutes the museum which also has models of many ships made at Gdynia. The crews quarters; Gally, Cabins etc can still be seen aswell as the boiler/engine room. Also good views from the deck of the Old Town.

Fantastic experience, well worth the admission ticket. Great for kids, the loved being on and in the Sołek. We bought a combined ticket for the 2 maritime museums and the ship but one of the museums is vast and kids got tired, they really enjoyed the ship though. A great piece of history in a fantastic location.

A lot of thanks to those people who invented and transported the ship here, it is incredibly magical to walk on it, in different parts, to examine everything and learn something. It was a great idea and I advise everyone to come here and see everything for yourself.

I really enjoyed visiting the museum and the ship. The ship is in very good condition and it's great that they have audio and video content that takes you back in time

A museum ship located next to the Maritime Museum. Very nicely restored, worth a visit. Not suitable for people with reduced mobility.

A great ship with an amazing story. It’s worth exploring the ship was built after WWII to haul coal and iron ore and through several owners ended up hauling 3.5 tons of cargo. It was beautiful to walk around and take photos of the city while on board. I highly recommend checking it out!!

A must if you visit Gdansk and want to tuvh and feel the old times. The ship not only hosts a great exhibition (polish & englisj). You also get to walk around the different parts of the ship including engineroom, staff quarters and main bridge! Keep in mind there is a lot of narrow stairs though

The maritime museum is very nice, but we didn't really like the exhibition on the Soldek ship very much. It relied heavily on the ship as such and the exposition seemed a little sloppy. Overall I still recommend it.

Had a really great tour on this Pirate Ship. Did not have any food but we had a couple of drinks and enjoyed listening to the tour guide and the musical entertainment on the way back. Great way to while away a few hours on a cold February day in Gdansk!

Lil bit small presentation inside a ship, but OK if you visit it with the main museum.

A wonderfully restored museum ship, the centerpiece of National Maritime Museum of Gdańsk IMHO. She was the first ship to have been built following the end of WWII in Poland. The exhibition is fully detailed and professionally curated. Every inch has been utilised in making the visit educational and rewarding while preserving the original elements. Engine room, bridge and storage bay no. 2 are not to be missed. Unfortunately she is not wheelchair accessible and with some steep staircases that may make climbing a bit tricky.

Loved the Soldek. You get climb up to the bridge and down to the engine rooms. Very interesting. Found it slightly strange that you can't go in after 3pm though. Well worth a visit (might be tricky for those with low mobility).

Short visit, but very inspiring. Authentic interiors give food for thought. Lots of very cool ship models.

Nice iniciative to save old ship and change his purpose. Great opportunity to see unseen chamber of crew. The main exhibition quite old school could be more inovated. We saw they making educational lesons in ship, i believe they should be interesting. The price isnt big so worth vositing any way

The ship was named after the worker Stanislaw Sołdek in Gdańsk Shipyard. There was a part of motivation: if you work well there is a chance that some ship will be named after you. Sołdek was the first ship built after WWII. Now it's the part of the National Maritime Museum

There are variety of tickets in ticket office but combination ticket would allow you to get on ferry back and forth. Maritime museum has impressed me maybe I am just not fond of ships and so on. Albeit, Soldek is different, and you may pay visit to the real museum on a genuine ship. You may get deep down as well as on a top of it where a marvelous view opens.

Honestly that's not a really interesting place. It could tell you the history of a Gdańsk shipyard, but nothing fascinating. On the other hand, the view from the upper floor is quite cool.

It's just a boat with little to no information about its' history Good opportunity to take some pics of the neighborhood but nothing much besides that

Absolutely worth the 8 PLN. Sadly only half of the info is translated to English but still a great site.
