Overall
an
average
experience.
We
had
planned
to
spend
more
time
at
the
hotel
during
our
five-nights
stay
but
then
decided
against
it
because
it
simply
was
not
up
to
the
standards
we
expected.
Plus:
the
hotel
has
a
great
location,
just
by
the
beach.
The
private
beach
area
is
well-attended
and
clean.
We
liked
the
historic
ambience,
even
though
the
hotel
doesn't
draw
on
it.
Staff
was
generally
friendly
if
somewhat
disinterested.
The
spa
area
is
small
and
ok
if
there
are
not
too
many
people.
Some
of
it
appeared
to
have
been
renovated
recently.
Negative:
the
hotel
feels
dated,
with
tired
furnishings,
worn
carpets
and
a
somewhat
gloomy
atmosphere.
Our
room
(310)
was
a
corner
room
with
an
excellent
view
of
the
sea.
However,
the
furniture
looked
as
if
it
came
from
a
mid-range
hotel
designed
in
the
1990s
and
was
arranged
in
a
non-sensical
way
that
spoiled
the
room's
location.
For
instance,
the
bed
was
in
a
dark
corner,
facing
the
wall
with
some
cheap
IKEA-esque
art,
rather
than
facing
the
window
--
it
would
have
been
perfect
to
wake
up
with
a
view
of
the
beach.
At
the
end
of
the
bed,
and
blocking
the
other
window,
was
a
sideboard
with
a
big
TV
that
had
to
be
navigated
when
getting
around
the
bed.
Again,
the
furniture
was
worn
and
chipped
in
places
-
its
design
may
have
been
just
ok
for
a
five-star
hotel
20
years
ago,
when
the
furniture
was
new,
but
not
now.
The
bathroom
was
big
but
again
designed
not
with
the
guest
in
mind.
There
was
no
shower
but
a
bathtub
with
a
glass
division
that
was
too
narrow
--
when
showering,
the
bathroom
would
often
flood.
The
design
(a
garish
yellow
black
tile
arrangement)
was
dated.
There
were
also
moldy
spots.
Generally,
the
room
did
not
feel
clean
-
when
we
arrived,
it
was
clear
that
it
had
not
been
cleaned
properly
--
there
were
cup
rings
and
grime
on
the
nightstands
and
the
desk.
When
I
complained
to
reception,
I
did
not
receive
an
apology.
The
cleaners
who
were
sent
up
to
fix
the
issue,
were
obviously
not
happy
that
we
had
complained
and
did
only
a
quick
clean-up.
Generally,
there
was
no
interest
in
us
as
customers/guests.
Reception
staff
was
generally
friendly
but
did
not
seem
interested.
When
we
checked
out,
I
was
asked
whether
we
had
liked
our
stay.
When
I
said
that
it
was
just
ok,
I
did
not
receive
any
further
question.
We
used
the
in-house
breakfast
only
once
--
at
20
Euros/person
it
was
overpriced.
The
coffee
was
really
good
but
the
buffet
only
middling.
The
a
la
carte
food
we
ordered
was
just
ok
but
did
not
compare
favorably
to
any
of
the
other
restaurants
we
then
explored.
Overall:
While
we
loved
the
location,
the
hotel
was
only
average
and
certainly
not
up
to
the
standards
we
have
come
to
expect
from
other
five-star
hotels.
We
would
not
return
unless
there
has
been
some
major
renovation.
This
should
also
include
fixing
the
cluttered
reception
area
and
the
design
of
the
bar.
The
hotel
has
great
potential
that
is
simply
not
realized.
Compare
with
other
hotels
from
the
same
period
that
have
been
fixed
up
and
truly
are
a
Grand
Hotel.
Finally,
the
whole
back
of
the
hotel
is
practically
a
parking
lot
--
so
not
quite
the
"parkside"
that
is
advertised.
