Quietly tucked away on Queen St serving a variety of Chinese dishes in a spacious restaurant decorated with lanterns. Don't miss out on their summer special - unlimited refills of fresh watermelon juice! ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ก ๐œ๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข ๐ฒ๐š๐›๐›๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐ž๐š๐ญ ($29) - they definitely didn't skimp on the yabbies, garlic shoot provided a nice floral sweetness to the dish ๐ŸŸ ๐‚๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ž ๐ฌ๐š๐ฎ๐ž๐ซ๐ค๐ซ๐š๐ฎ๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ฌ๐ก ($33) - the best dish and noticeably a crowd favourite amongst patrons. Enjoyed the most delicious feast at Red Cliff! The restaurant is quietly tucked away on Queen St, but upon entering youโ€™ll find yourself in a spacious and home-y Chinese restaurant! Every dish we ordered was delicious! Definitely recommend getting their Spicy Grilled Whole Fish which is perfect for winter as itโ€™s served heated at the table. Their famous Yabby Noodles are a must try too - the noodles are perfectly chewy and that gravy sauce is phenomenal. Their Half Peking Duck is a really good deal too, as it comes with a generous serving of fried rice and plenty of duck and pancakes to share! For snacks, also try the Fried Lotus Root stuffed with pork - absolutely delicious and super addictive. One thing they do really well here is portion sizes - each dish is MASSIVE! Youโ€™ll definitely want to make sure you come hungry or take a big group with you to try more dishes. Overall, we were very satisfied with our meal here. Thank you for having us!

This restaurant is one of my favourite classic Chinese restaurants. They scream authentic in all the dishes that they serve. Whatโ€™s more, the service is so fast, despite the ENTIRE restaurant being packed. How amazing! ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿคญ ๐Ÿฎ I love all the lanterns that hang on the ceiling! ๐Ÿฎ Alongside everything else, it makes for a perfect dinner experience. ๐Ÿ’—

Came here after seeing the amount of positive reviews, unfortunately our experience wasn't great. The service was poor. We had rice with our order but we didn't get it and had to ask twice for them to bring it out. The food wasn't fantastic either, tasted like reheated food and missed a bit of seasoning. I will say 2 of the dishes we ordered were less common dishes you would order but it still doesn't give me much hope for the other dishes. We spent $70 for 3 dishes and 2 drinks, for the money you can get a better meal elsewhere.

One of the best chinese food restaurants in Melbourne ๐Ÿ’ซ Weโ€™ve ordered their โ€œPickled Fishโ€ ้…ธ่œ้ฑผ where the broth tastes sour but makes you feel like digging in more every sip! The fish slices in the soup is so soft and fresh, thinly sliced yet so yummy. Also highly recommend their chicken soup with fish maw ่Šฑ่ƒถ where it contains heaps of collagen! Something else that weโ€™re also happy to reorder - Stinky Tofu ่‡ญ่ฑ†่…๏ผŒShredded Cabbage with Vinegar ๆ‰‹ๆ’•ๅŒ…่œ ๐Ÿ’—

Absolutely delicious food. Full of authentic flavours and techniques. It is one of the best places for authentic Northern Chinese cuisine. The dishes are also reasonably priced so it is also great value. They have interesting events every now and then - like $1 bottomless watermelon juice. It would be best to book ahead where possible. Otherwise, it could be a 20-40 min wait as it is a popular location.

Looking for some authentic Chinese food? This place is amazing. The food was incredible, so full of flavour and fresh. The service was friendly and welcoming. This restaurant is bustling. I shared a number of dishes including - Half Peking Duck - - Mao's Braised Pork - Spicy Deer - And some icy cold beers. My Mao's Braised Pork was just perfect. It's one of my top dishes for 2022 so far. I can highly recommend this place. [Invite]

Authentic and flavourful Chinese food. Affordable price and great volume. The spicy crab dish is only about $45 but came with three crabs and a lot of veggies! The Lamb dish also tastes amazing. The crispy potatoes stayed crispy till we finished. Both spicy or not spicy options are there. One of us is vegetarian and there are enough options for him as well. Will come again!

An authentic Chinese restaurant that has been around for years. My favourite go to place to satisfy my Sichuan food cravings, with reasonable prices and generous portions. I highly recommend their crayfish noodles and chicken soup! Service is always attentive.

Visited this restaurant last Sunday during my trip to Melbourne. Despite a longer wait for our food compared to others, as they had overlooked printing my order during a busy period, the flavors were delightful, especially the fish maw chicken collagen soup (unfortunately, I don't recall the exact name on the menu). My boy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I read online that people said this restaurant offers unlimited refills of watermelon juice. However, when I ordered it from the menu and inquired with the waiter, they mentioned that there's no unlimited refill option. Anyway, I would definitely consider revisiting if I find myself in Melbourne again in the future.๐Ÿ˜‹

If you have the patience to wait to get seated, then you'll be rewarded with some authentic Chinese cuisine. Finally getting a table for myself after being in the queue for around 35 minutes, I ordered a plate of Hunan S/F Pork with Fresh Chilli ($19.80) and a bowl of plain rice ($2.50) to go with it. The dish was excellent. One thing though, this place isn't super cheap like the other Chinese places, but is worth it ($$). ๐Ÿฒ - The spiciness, the hotness level was just how I like it. The quantity was quite decent, and if you visit in a group, you'll have much more options. ๐Ÿฎ - The staff were fine, and the place had a beautiful Chinese vibe to it, with the decor and furniture having an oriental feel to them. The beautiful lanterns imparted a vibrancy to the spacious restaurant. All the tables were full, and only after I took my first bite I could understand why it was so. Also, there's a large, cute Cheshire cat on the side of the entrance! Greatly recommended!

Taste so so. Dishes werenโ€™t spicy as they supposed to be. Pork intestines were still so smelly. The noodles in crawfish noodles feel like didnt cook well enough. Good customer service.

Soooo good but the signature sour cabbage and fish soup is a little too spicy for me, but still must get! I loved the all you can drink watermelon juice, thatโ€™s a cool promo. The spicy chicken nibbles was really good too.

Very sad and disappointed at how I was treated at reception. I booked a spot for 6:30pm and arrived at said time. When we arrived the waiter asked us if we booked, I said yes and provided my phone number, the guy insisted โ€œno you dont have a bookingโ€ in an accusing tone, I told him my number multiple times until finally the other waiter looked at the correct date/page and found our number. At this point I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome at how I was being treated. Furthermore, we waited at the front door for a bit, unclear where we had to wait to get put in our seat, no signs of where we had to go for the booking, you had to go all the way inside. They need to update the menu online / google maps as they didnt have any of what we saw online. The food was alright good serving, but so and so. The brown sugar rice cake dessert was good, the highlight of the restaurant.

A bit hesitated after saw a few bad review before I visited the restaurant, but since my son made a booking, I decided to give them a chance. Arrived at 7:30pm, very busy hours, all tables are occupied, but the waiter kept apologizing as he has yet to clear the table for us. Soon after we took the seats, ordering were not smooth as the system kept showing the past orders despite I refreshed the page many times, but never mind, the waiter still trying his best to do manual ordering for us. Food served, didnโ€™t take too much time, and quality is not bad at all, honestly, Ive tried many Chinese restaurants in many countries, and this restaurant does serve good quality Chinese delicacy. For those who gave bad review, I guess maybe it was just bad timing, my experience was good and definitely will recommend to my friends who wanna try good Chinese food. Well done ่ตคๅฃใ€‚ P/S, there is no AUS1.00 watermelon juice offered to me, so my review is definitely genuine.

Insta: markandelly_eats Red Cliff is such a hidden gem. This place is actually super well-known within the Chinese community but not much so outside of it. I've never heard of this one until my partner mentioned it (and I practically live on Zomato!) They do traditional authentic Hubei and Sichuan cuisines andI was keen to try. We knew we were at the right place the moment we stepped in - everyone, including staff and diners, were all Chinese. 1000% a good sign. It was also super clean and spacious with ubiquitous Chinese decor. It was a good start. Their signature Spicy Yabby Noodles was pretty good. Never seen that much yabbies in a single dish. Sauce was a bit liquidy for my taste but it still worked. We ordered Deep Fried Salted Egg Soft Bone Chicken which was the off-the-menu item (apparently it's what everyone orders?) Super interesting, unique crunchy-ish texture and salted egg flavour actually worked. It would've been perfect with cold beer. My personal favourite was their Braised Spicy Chicken Feet. It had that Mala kick. The numbing spiciness was super addicting and their braising sauce was just divine - you can literally use that with anything. Now in all honesty, the prices are slightly above average but I think it's justified considering the unparalleled quality and the serving size. Keen to try their famous Braised Pork Belly and Kung Pao Chicken next time.

I donโ€™t believe Iโ€™m very experienced to say if this was authentic Chinese food but it surely was different than your regular Chinese restaurants. There were some interesting items on the menu, they didnโ€™t have dumplings. We tried yabby noodles and it was tasty. The sichuan pepper did a good job of numbing my tongue. The meat and noodles were well done. Their portions were generous. The menus were mainly in Chinese but donโ€™t let that stop you from trying this place. The staff are courteous and patient to explain the menu if you have any questions.
