Great friendly service and amazing atmosphere. But unfortunately the food isn’t the same level.. We had the teppanyaki and the chefs have a small talk with you and don’t play around which I actually prefer. However, the food itself wasn’t as expected. I have been to Koko several times back in the days and thought maybe there would be an improvement but unfortunately not. The entree was quite salty, very cold and nothing special. Same goes to the sushi and rest of the dishes. Did not taste high quality. If they provide higher quality food for a restaurant that has such an amazing interior and ambience, I’m sure they would attract a lot more customers. The steak which we asked for medium rare, none of them were medium rare but rather closer to medium or medium well done. The fish with prosciutto wrapped around was quite dry and the prosciutto loses its special flavour once cooked. Really wish they brought up the food game to match the service and atmosphere provided.

Post for all my vegetarian friends, let me start my giving credit to restaurant to try and put a sub standard 6 course vegetarian menu. I am so surprised that this is the best Koko can do for $150+. I have eaten much superior Japanese with much better tasting food. So here is my verdict and I hope Koko can improve it's vegetarian menu options and taste. Rating. 4/5 for Ambience 3.5/5 for Service 3/5 for food

Really nice place, ordered the set menu as me and my girlfriend were both hungry that day. The sashimi is quite fresh and the texture of the fish and beef is amazing. We also really appreciate the place was still open on that Monday night around 9PM.

What an amazing restaurant. I really enjoyed the each bit of my meal. Believe it or not I never tried Oyster as I didn’t like the taste and smell of that, but in place I couldn’t stop myself to eat them as they were extremely fresh with no bad smell. All other courses from Entree to the main meal was wonderful. You could have the best sushi Sashimi in Melbourne. Also, customer service was excellent. Thank you 😊

Loved it! Great experience and exceptional service by everyone in the restaurant. The teppanyaki chef was brilliant. The food was so fresh that it tasted like it was just caught. I can't believe I waited so long to visit.

Me and my family went there for a birthday dinner, and one of the staff Sarah served us wonderfully. When we asked for a recommendation on Sake, she did a perfect job with her extensive knowledge of the different types of Sake. Not only that, as we all had different dietary requirements, she ensured that all of our requests are put through with no mistakes. We had laugh and giggles throughout the night with our chef Ian’s sense of humour and the mouth-watering foods. All of us had a enjoyable night!

Memorable Service and Steak Had a chance to visit Koko for special bday event and it satisfied my curiosity. The highlight of the night was the service and ambiance! The staffs were attentive and boy the place looks so good The food is not bad! I love the wagyu steak that we had! It was perfectly cooked and the Koko sauce paired really well with the steak! It is sweet and salty! Perfect umami combination I would also recommend to order the scallop! The sauce is amazing and it makes you wanting it more Overall there are some dishes that can be improved but overall it is not bad! Would deffo come back and try out their other menu and signature teppanyaki

Very nice ambiance, friendly staff and delicious food. Lots of tables and space.. You might be seated with other people but we were lucky we got the whole table for ourselves.. The chef was quite but still it was a wonderful experience. Definitely a must for family and friends.

My friend and I both ordered the Hasu set. We both enjoyed every dish except for the quill. Even with the source, we both felt that the quill tested dry or leathery. We laughed about it, but the next dish was much more enjoyable. Getting a birthday candle as a surprise was a pleasant surprise for me. Please keep it as it is as I felt it had a very personal touch to it. Thank you for that. I look forward to returning in the near future.

A spectacular dining experience. Our second time at Koko. The cuisine is exceptional. Bar service times need improving, but only a minor tweak at it will be a perfect dining experience. We will be back.

Exceptional service, great quality ingredients and fantastic flavours. We ordered the $150 pp set menu, it was a great dining experience. The tooth fish was an absolute highlight. The decor was exquisite and the view near the window would’ve been amazing. The staff were helpful and pleasant.

First time having teppanyaki at Koko. It was an enjoyable experience watching the chef cook and prepare the food. We had the $150 set menu and cocktails, all of the food were amazing and met my expectations. My favorite dishes were the fish and wagyu. The service was above and beyond, the chef Martin was very nice and interactive, our waitress was Sarah, she was super friendly and offered to take photos for us. Will come back for a second visit.

Amazing customer service and food!! Clarence's chef skills were incredible, looked after us and made sure we were having fun. Sarah was always ready to help us with whatever inquiry we had. The rising sun drink was outta this world!! Would recommend to anyone who loves Japanese food and wants to have a premium quality teppanyaki experience 🤩

Less known and often overlooked to Nobu at Crown, however if you get a chance, this is one Crown restaurant to put on your ‘must visit’ list. Customer service and attentiveness is second to none. Food is immaculately presented and the quality and taste is 5 star. The restaurant exclusive ambience and views of the Melbourne city and Yarra river are amazing. They also have private dining rooms with your own chef. Will be back in 2024.

This is a large Japanese restaurant that offers Teppanyaki bbq, a la carte, and small sashimi bar. It’s located on the 3rd floor a Melbourne’s 5 star hotel and casino Crown Towers in the tourist area of Southbank. The variety of dishes on the menu is good, and we enjoyed the fresh BBQ seafood. The yuzushu spritz cocktail was very delicious. Syrupy sweet and citrusy. The 5x mark up on sake is disappointing. I know restaurants mark up wine, but this seemed a little extreme. Google prices and make your own judgement. The teppanyaki BBQ seating arrangement is a little cramped. We were seated with 6 other people who the 1 chef was serving simultaneously. We weren’t seated infront of the chef, rather over his left shoulder. Thankfully this Teppanyaki is the traditional style where the chef just cooks the food, not the circus trick variety. Restaurant was quite loud and rowdy. Visitor experience may vary.

The food was on another level. I don't eat seafood but I tried everything and it was all delish a couple of items were a little strong for me but I didn't want to ruin the experience and not try everything. The service was exceptional. I will be back again with hubby next time. 10/10

They have updated their teppanyaki menu recently which I think deserves a new review. As always the service and atmosphere is wonderful at this place. We got the Sansui teppanyaki set menu and for $195 per person I believe it is well worth it. They kept some of the stuff like sushi etc from the old set menu and adding new stuff like abalone to the set which is a very nice addition.

We booked for an ala carte lunch and decided to give Hasu a try. The venue and atmosphere was really nice. They even sat us near the windows with a great view. The restaurant's architecture was really nice and we werw in awe of how it was decorated. The food was good as we have expected bjt the service was phenomenal. Every now and then the staff checked on us to make sure everything was alright. Overall, its a good lunch date.

good for special occasions. nice atmosphere and staff. food was also lovely. we ordered two set menus. only downside is that I think they did not have section waiters on the night. we were asked how everything was maybe 9 times by different people during our dessert, a little bit much don’t you think ?

The best Japanese food in Melbourne period. You pay for what you get. The sushi is the freshest I've had since Japan. They have unique dishes even though they are traditional. Loved everything coming out of the kitchen including the green tea creme brulee.

Have been dining in Koko regularly over 15 years. I'm never disappointed with their food and service. Both A la carte and Teppanyaki are great, but they are not low price.

Great up market Teppanyaki experience. For the latest visit we had the set menu which consisted of a nice range of vegetables, seafood, meat and then dessert. All dishes were amazing and its one of the only times I'd entertain prawn heads but it goes to show they know what they're doing and they cook with the highest quality. Wine and cocktails were top notch and service was friendly and efficient. Props to our chef who was quiet but highly skilled and didn't mind us taking photos as he was working.

Booked for a Monday evening to celebrate a birthday. There were four other birthdays during our session. Sonya and Nathan were both attentive in looking after our table. Sonya's umeshu recommendation and rendition of the birthday song made our night. The chef who looked after us was also attentive to diners who we shared the table with when they had any questions about the food. An experience to try and would recommend for an occasion.

This was such an incredible experience. My mate and I had an amazing time. We received a warm welcome from Shawn and Wendy. Dang gave us an excellent service and was taken such good care by Nathan. Shout out to Dion, who gave us delicious cocktails the whole night. Thank you Chef Kenny for preparing luscious meals for us and being so attentive to us as well as other customers. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend this to our mates.

Went to Koko for a teppanyaki lunch to celebrate our anniversary. It was such an incredible experience. We received great friendly service from our chef Albert and the food was delicious and well presented. We had the sashimi, seafood broth in clay teapot, angus beef tenderloin, swordfish and Hokkaido scallops. Definitely worth a second visit!!

Great food, atmosphere and service! We dined a la carte and especially enjoyed the seafood fried udon. The sashimi and sushi platters also were fabulous. Pricing was pretty reasonable for a restaurant of this calibre, although the serving sizes are a little smaller than what you might expect, so would recommend ordering more dishes than you initially might think you need (if you’re not going with a set menu). We were seated right next to the teppanyaki tables and were pleasantly surprised that there was no rowdiness or noise like you sometimes find in teppanyaki restaurants - it was a very comfortable dining experience. Our waiter was also very lovely and attentive. Only complaint would be that this place is a bit difficult to find within Crown and required a lot of signposting and consulting Google Maps.
