A 60-70 styled bar with a diverse selection of beers and liquors. Live music sure keeps this place packed from time to time.

Cosy and unique. I always have a good time here, the interior is familiar and old school. For out-of-towners: there's underground parking one street away.

Oldy but goodies. I like the ambiance of the place cozy and not too loud ,so you can still talk to each other without shouting.

Great find. Enjoy a variety of Belgian beers to the sound of jazz, whilst playing chess, and meeting wonderful locals.

Nice atmosphere, but bad poor cocktail list and you need to order and take the drink with you at the bar, so no waiters service here. The atmosphere is really nice, kind of mid 50s

The bartender is always a very lovely friendly girl. They have a lot of board games and a pool table. Very recommendable

Nice club with classical ambiance

After many years I wanted to show my son the magic of the Hotsy Totsy and I did not disappoint him. The enchanting lady in red behind the bar. The iconic pictures on the walls. Being able to have a good conversations without loud music. Indeed...The Hotsy Totsy is still the same place where the magic happens.

Great bar well known by Ghent locals. Pretty quiet when we visited but think it gets lively later in the evening. Good pool table and lots of board games available. Good selection of beer as usual and average pricing. Recommended

The personnel is impolite, arrogant and ignores clients. This happened 4 times out of 4. Two times we had to leave because they were acting they are 'busy" so we couldn't even order. Is it that hard to recruit more decent people instead of posers? The drinks are not so good after all, but still awkward place because of incompetence. Put a good manager to run the place and recruit better.

Feels like you have found a secret bar each time you go, I love this place. Great atmosphere, really friendly staff and the decor is fantastic (and I was right, it's a picture of Theda Bara up towards the back!). Of course the beer is lovely too :-) My favourite bar in Gent - actually, favourite bar in Belgium.

This bar has a very distinct atmosphere - it breathes some classic French inspired decor while there is a relaxed atmosphere. Very welcoming for people who come alone to read a bit or to socialize a bit. There are a few "compartments" to sit in, which really give you a sense of private space with your party. Definately worth a visit.

Really nice and cozy place with a unique interior that hasn't been altered in character for over 3 decades. Normally groups of 2-4 people would come to enjoy a drink and chat. Very original, I like it a lot. Nice for casual going out for a beer in the week. You can also play pool and other group games available there, some of them really old :)

Lovely place with jazzy music. Not too loud. Small selection of whiskey available, ask at the bar!
