There's a certain atmosphere in this restaurant and I don't have decided yet if I like it. You certainly can't deny this restaurant has a distinct personality. The food was really nice but not the best I ever tasted. The waiters were OK. Since we were a group of 20 persons, I think we were very well served. I can't explain but there's something about this restaurant : you'll love it or you'll hate it. Try it out for yourself...

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to! Especially the atmosphere, feel like dining in 18 centuries, absolutely stunning!

We were overall disappointed unfortunately. Especially the wine accompaniment was not good at all! We waited a long time between the courses and in the meantime our glasses were empty. There was neither a refill nor a request. In the end, we payed 42 EUR p.p. for 4 measly glasses of average wine! Its defintely better to order a bottle yourself and enjoy without an accompaniment that is not really a wine accompaniment! The dessert was exceptionally good. I have rarely had such a delicious dessert.

Such an amazing experience and delicious food! The wine also amazing. I really loved the decoration and atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and professional. I wish I lived in Ghent, so I can have dinner at Allegro Moderato more often. I will definitely repeat when I visit Ghent in the future.

I was in Ghent for a day trip and my friends took me to Allegro Moderato and I am so happy they did. I eat at a lot of restaurants and I can safely say that this is in my top 10 favorite restaurants in the world. Not sure why they have not received a Michelin Bib Gourmand at minimum. The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous and relaxing with beautiful views of the canal. The service was impeccable and everyone was so friendly and spoke English, which is a plus since I only speak English. Now for the good part, the food....I got the set lunch menu for 35€, super cheap for the quality of the food that was provided. The dishes were simple, flavorful and perfectly cooked. The ingredients were fresh and in season. If you are in Ghent you absolutely have to eat at this restaurant!

Excellent service and food! We went there for dinner and the staff was really pleasant and smilling! The atmoshepere is really cosy and the food is original and tasty! Ideal for a romantic dinner!

Food was absolutely lovely, service was great. Waiters were kind and efficient, the atmosphere was cozy, lit by candles. We had a very good evening. Though, best to have to a reservation!

A wonderful restaurant. We came out for a special post lockdown lunch and that's exactly what we got. We arrived late (apologies to the chef) and were nevertheless treated to the best service we have had for a long time. The food was fantastic (we had the lunch menu and it was faultless, perfectly balanced and very reasonably priced) - it is hard to pick a highlight because every course was scattered with delicious touches but the cooking of the haddock was particularly great. Hopefully when tourists start to flow back into Gent places like Allegro Moderato will be full to bursting once more, they so deserve it! So if you are looking for somewhere with a very friendly fine dining experience then I would strongly recommend it. Thank you for a memorable lunch, we'll be back!

The service was great, and we really enjoyed the amuse bouche as well as the duck liver and red perch on our fixed menu. We would prefer to pay more to have better quality wine paired with the meal. It's good for a romantic date or with friends.

We had a very good experience with the service and the food. By Google maps standard food and place would receive 5 stars, but if you are expecting fine cuisine (Michelin-like), you won't be that impressed, yes the food is really great, but it lacked something here and there. But again if you are still in doubt if going or not, you won't be disappointed giving it a try. Price: 220€ for 2 with wine pairing for both.

it was a great restaurant we came with our complete a fun family of my girlfriend the dock was delicious the pork also was the licious the wine was very good the head the search was amazing and the service was great the place was beautiful the sea Buna there was no Seaview it was a nice view of the river and the prices were a bit high but good

Booked online about 5 days in advance and had a 1900 reservation. We were able to sit outside by the water, as the weather was beautiful. A set menu for Saturday night. Opted for the 4 course meal and was not disappointed one bit. We were served by 4 different staff members and they were all very professional and knowledgeable. Plan for a long dinner, as our dinner lasted 3 hours. Pricey, yes. Worth it, without a doubt.

All perfect. Good food. Good wine. Until it’s time to pay and you wait and wait and remind the staff - and then finally the bill arrives. Such a pity for this nice restaurant .
