I lived 7 years in Asia and this is the first authentic Thai restaurant I managed to find in Europe. Amazing massaman curry with simply true pad thai and vegetarian spring rolls. Do not bother by comments of those who complain about food being too spicy - that is also part of the experience but you can choose non spicy dishes as well!

We want you to succeed in our hometown, but coming back from BKK, the food is truly bad and nowhere authentic to any of Thailand regions. The Gent Festival will certainly bring you traffic but hope you can survive afterwards. Good luck

Yesterday, we had a delicious meal at this Thai restaurant. We had a menu for 20 euros. This menu consists of a starter, main course and coffee or tea after. We had a soup before and the soup was very tasty and well filled with chicken. As main dishes we had vegetables with tofu and pad Thai with chicken. We found the Pad Thai a bit too salty, but everything else was very tasty. Great service and a lovely place on the terrace in the sun!

Very authentic Thai restaurant in Ghent. Papaya salad, soups and different kinds of curry were my favorite. I opted for the green curry, which I liked a lot. It is a small place with seating options indoors and outdoors and the service is very nice. The facade of the restaurant is really nice and when seating outdoors gives the whole experience a different touch. Highly recommended Thai restaurant in town

Was OK, not the best. Not the worst. Average Thai inspired food. Not authentic at all.

Green curry is really authentic but other dishes are adjust to local people's taste. Interesting place in the special old building with story. Love it.

We loved the food here and the interiors. The Thai prawn curry reminded me of the curries in Thailand and was one of the best I ever had. The fried rice dish is also recommend. Overall great experience!

Delicious!!! In a tiny space with some of the original architecture peeking through this is a high quality fresh and professional Thai restaurant. The corridor to the loos looks a bit like something from Twin Peaks and the only reason I did not give 5 stars is the size and practicality of the loos - the roll holder was broken and fell apart.

Really great Thai! Quite a small restaurant but we got a table without a booking. Friendly service in English. Good vegetarian/pescatarian options. Red curry and laab salad were excellent. A nice break from traditional Belgium fare.

We went here based on a friend’s recommendation. However, to my utmost surprise, we were not-so-politely told that nothing at all on the menu can be made gluten-free. This was the first time I got such a response at a Thai restaurant in a decade of being gluten-free. Thai cuisine is usually the most gluten-free friendly. The server went on to say that the reason nothing can be made gluten-free is that they use multiple sauces in the preparation of the food, and they don’t know what the ingredients in those sauces are (????) because all the labels are in Korean language!?!? He said this multiple times as part of a 10 minute rant. We were shocked. He explicitly told us that anyone who serves gluten-free Thai food is lying to us. We obviously left. Never coming back.

Stumbled upon this delightful restaurant on our last night in Ghent. Food is so authentic, it felt like being back in Asia. Lovely staff and all held together by the lovely owner. Just order as much as you can, you will not be disappointed !

Nam Jai’s recently reopened as a delivery/take away service - but without any of the amazing Thai flavours or expertise they were once famed for. Boiled vegetables, bland flavours, and sad presentation, this is probably best avoided. Edit: Nam Jai have blamed their terrible Thai food on the 7 minutes it took to transport 🤷‍♀️

Absolutely fantastic and very authentic Thai food. It is in an historical Asian restaurant building in the middle of all the happenings in Gent. The staff is amazing! Try any item on the menu - you will love it!

The food was so delicious and the service was great. I didn't have to wait long for my food. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for an authentic Thai food. Location is great as well with parking nearby.

The food was delicious and the chef was very sweet! The food took 130 minutes (more than 2 hours) to arrive. If you are hungry or in a hurry don't come in groups of ten people or more.

Cozy environment. Offers +/- 10 tables for 2 people. Flavouring of the dishes is really nice. Portion size is ok, especially when taking a starter as well.

Super nice atmosphere with very attentive staff and awesome owners. Food is outstanding and authentic. If you want to eat original Thai food come here to try the real deal. Thumbs up!

We started with the mixed plate to share. On the cart they describe it as "a mix of starters chosen by the chef". We got 5 small loempia's, 4 small chicken wings, salad leaves, 2 slises of tomato and some carrot. For a price of 18€ it's quite overrated. The main course was good. Just be aware that they count 2,5€ for the rice. Even if it's a part of your meal. I don't think we will visit again.

Delicious, best Thai in Gent. Very flavoursome, plus good choice of vegetarian, fish and meat

Dissapointed in this Thai restaurant. As an Asian chef, I often like to try new restaurants without looking at any reviews beforehand. Sadly to say, I never thought this would be such a bad experience. The staff was Thai, the overall ambiance was Thai, but a Thai restaurant should serve Thai food. We ordered as per usual, one common dish and one that could be a fusion. Phat Kaphrao is usually simply made with minced pork, holy basil, chili and garlic based paste, green beans and a sunny side up egg on top. Any variations could be applied but it should look fairly simple. I went for Duck Phat kaphrao thinking it would be minced or at least diced duck made in the same manner as mentioned above, to my surprise, I got the most dissapointing stir fry before me. Red and green paprika, some beans and onion tossed in a wok with a base of oyster sauce, fish sauce, pepper and starch water to thicken. The basil was regular basil. As for the duck, just the run of the mill fried duck and as a garnish they topped it off with pea shoots. My jaw dropped to the floor and I asked for Prik nam pla (basic Thai fish sauce with chilies) to save the dish I was eating. The price was €26, as a chef I would never ask this for this exact dish knowing the food cost it has, but then again, it's their restaurant. Needless to say, at least serve a proper Phat Kaphrao. I always give a restaurant a second chance, but reading a few reviews and seeing my point already made a year ago from others just validates the bad quality of the menu. Thus, telling me that there is no improvement on their part. Please take more pride in Thai food. As Asians, this has always been a big part of our culture. Don't represent it any other way than it should. For people looking for authenticity, this is not the place to be. For people wanting to eat "Farang Thai" food, sure, give it a try. ไม่ค่อยอร่อย...
