We ordered panner tikka masala and chana masala with butter naan...everything was custom cooked to match India spice level as per request. Definitely the best Indian food you will get in Belgium.

I had a bad experience at Royal India Restaurant. The owner, who serves Indian food, was not nice to people from India and didn’t care about us. He was mean and made us feel bad. He treated people differently based on their skin color and was impolite. He charged me an excessive amount of 6.50 euros for a bottle of water. I paid it to show that people from India can afford it. I would advise other people from India not to go to this restaurant because it could ruin their day. The ratings for this restaurant are overhyped. I can confirm that all the negative ratings are accurate and most of the positive reviews are fake. I have attached my bill as well for the verification.

Authentic Indian food. Excellent customer service. While taking order the owner discussed our spice levels and customised to our needs. We will definitely visit again during our next travels to Ghent

I visited this Indian restaurants with my Belgian colleague. Enjoyed a very yummy and well cooked food. We had ordered butter chicken, perfectly done and paneer tikka masala, ordered to make little spicy. They give a complementary rice bowl with this. Sufficient in qty. Butter naan and plain naan was fresh, hot and soft. Really enjoyed the place and meals. My Belgian colleague also appreciated this experience. Thanks to the friendly staff. Definitely recommended this place to get authentic Indian food experience.

The food here is delicious. The lady host was very kind. A plus point is that the rice is complementary. This is amazing. They have daal in a good Katori (metal bowl) in which they serve the daal. (Not the bucket type where you get less) We naan was perfect. The chicken khadhai was delicious. It would taste more of they also had option of chicken with bone 😇 we both eat spicy food. They didn’t had fresh chillies. That’s okay. We enjoyed our meal. We would love to try the other dishes they have on the menu.

This restaurant is one of the best we had experience with in Europe. Run by Mrs Payal Bhargava resident of Jaipur. Every item we ordered specially the nans were so crispy and thin and everything was quite Indian original taste. Highly recommended.

Excellent Indian food. I especially liked their mango royal fish. Something I’ve never had anywhere else before. Service was warm and friendly. I definitely recommend this place. Beware for lunch they closed the kitchen at around 1:30.

It's such a lovely Indian restaurant in Ghent. Today, I visited it with my parents, and we were treated like royalty by the owner Payal. I can easily say this might be one of the best Indian foods I've ever had in Europe. We had Chicken Tikka for starters and Chicken Rajasthani and Laal Maans (lamb) as the mains. And they were delicious. As they knew we were from India, they adjusted the taste to our spicy tolerance, and it was just perfect. The service by the staff was impeccable too. You can probably just ask them for suggestions and I'm sure they can recommend the best options. To avoid disappointment, book in advance. It's very popular and you might not find a place otherwise.

My friend and I booked a table which was confirmed via email. When we arrived there, we waited for more than 10 minutes to get a table. The employees saw us arrive but didn’t even bothered to come to us. When they eventually came to us they said that we had to wait for around five minutes. After those five minutes they said “just come back after 20 minutes” because they were fully booked but the 4 people behind us got immediately a table even though they arrived later. Would not recommend going here for the service

Always extremely delicious Indian food, we have never been disappointed! I avoid coming here on Friday or Saturday night since it gets very busy, and the waiting time for food can take more than 1.5 hours for two people. This could be improved or at-least the staff could give more updates. Regardless, the food is very good, and prices are very fair for both food and drinks.

I just enjoyed a delicious meal here. I'm on holiday from Ireland. When we arrived on spec there were no tables available but the lady told us to come back in 30 minutes which we did. She explained we would have to eat upstairs so we didn't get the full atmosphere . We were tired from walking all day and had been sampling various belgian treats all day so we only wanted a main course. I asked the waiter what was the closest thing to a balti and the owner (I presume) came up and said it was difficult to explain and even though it was not on the menu they would do it for me. I was delighted znd it was absolutely delicious. The sauce was gorgeous and the chicken was so soft and tender. The place was packed. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our food. Delicious. Thank you

Perfect Indian food. Amazing taste. I had a chicken dish, chicken tikka and garlic plus cheese naan. The sauce was a firework of taste in the mouth. Price for 2 person really fair. Thanks very much to the whole team.

The restaurant is a great place for family dinings. The atmosphere is really good as the staff is very friendly. Food is served hot and fresh and is absolutely delicious. Payal, the owner has done a great job with the restaurant and its pleasurable to have such tasty Indian food here. The services are quite prompt and the overall experience is perfect.

Excellent service. Nice devotional music in the background. The owner gave very great hospitality and he adjusted the food based on our spice. He looked after us well and recommended dishes to try. Beautiful decor, feels like we are in India. Will definitely recommend people and come back with Family. Regards, Helsinki (From Finland)

Food was excelent....in a group of more people you can save more....more like 20euro per person is a nominal price and reasonable.....however i am putting lowest rating to the behaviour of the staff ( probably the owner). She was very rough while taking the order or when we asked for splitting the bills. Thats it.

The restaurant closing time and opening timings do not match with what is mentioned on Google. We went thrice but either they were closed for more orders or didn’t start serving only. Also , taste was just mediocre and we ordered vegan kebabs considering it as starters but to our surprise they served kebab in curry accompanied with rice. Beg biryani was also pulao

Very nice food (the mint naan really stood out) and very friendly staff. We went five people on a Friday night, and the place was quite busy. This meant that we had to wait a little longer than I generally prefer before our food arrived, but it was definitely worth it.

The lady was so friendly!! Gave recommendations and let us know about the possibility of altering spices according to our spice preferences. I had bad experience in europe where they tone down the spices in Indian restaurants which is disappointing but this place they do have authentic ones!! So happy we found this place and would definitely recommend anyone to try it. Ordered chicken rajasthani(medium spicy) and chicken tikka masala (less spicy), garlic naan, salty lassi.

Really satisfied with my dining experience there! I ordered a mix of several meats (starter), marinated and grilled, a very generous and tasty dish. I then ordered for a rogan josh lamb stew that was delicious. I asked for extra spiciness since this is the way i like Indian cuisine, and the chef perfectly met my expectations! The restaurant was full (which is a good sign) which can explain why the service was a little bit too long in my opinion.

I tried to get our reservation by calling them one the number they have provided and for whatever reason it says please check the number. I messaged them as was not able to contact through call. I got reply that please call for reservation. Well we were not far from the location so we decided to walk in and check if we can get one. We were lucky to sit and have our lunch as it was about an hour to close time! And we assure you value each other’s time. We order appetizer, main course and masala chai for us. The pakoras wasn’t that great but sure our paneer masala and rest of our order was very good. It’s nice place to enjoy your meal. We were there for lunch and happy about the location and service!

As always the food was delicious. You can't find a better hot and saur soup than here. All the dishes are seasoned on demand.(spicy or not). Neo and Pajal are so wonderful people, you can ask them anything. They always want to please their customers. Royal India is certainly the best Indian restaurant in town.

There have been quite some Indian restaurants over the years but I feel very pleased to say that I have found one of my favourites. A very detailed menu that offered dishes for every taste and it was perfectly seasoned. Service was perfect with the owners being extremely friendly and hospitable. Despite it being a very busy night, they still found us a place to seat. 10/10 would recommend.

I tried this restaurant with a friend last night, everything was excellent! We had butter naan, cheese naan, garlic naan (this one was gluten-free upon my friend's request), chicken tikka masala, mango chicken, and a third dish with chicken and a ginger sauce (they all came with rice). Everything was very tasty and genuine. The owners and the staff were extremely polite and friendly. Quite simply the best Indian food I've had!

As a Belgian having lived in India for quite a while, I can safely say this restaurant delivers the most authentic and delicious Indian food in Ghent. There is a variety of choices, both non-veg and veg, and from different areas in India. The very friendly Rajesthani owners have lived in different places in India and can therefore bring the best of India to your plate. The owners take great proud in their biryanis and I can say that everything we ordered was of excellent quality (from pakoras, naans to chicken biryani and masala chai). Looking forward to my next royal visit!

  • 5/5 Jan W. 3 years ago on Google
Delicious Indian food at very reasonable prices. Also the staff is very friendly. The owner offered us different examples of spice levels so we could choose better for our main course, so even for people who don't eat Indian food often this is a great restaurant to explore Indian cuisine. Highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Johanna R. 3 years ago on Google
Great food and service. We had the vegetarian mixed platter as a starter and some naan bread. As a main we had the chicken curry and the mixed vegetable curry. The food was very delicious. The food has his price, but it was worth it. Thank you very much

First of all, I’m pretty sure this is the best Indian food you can find in Belgium and if not the world. It’s India’s finest brought to Belgium. The story behind the used ingredients is why you would prefer this restaurant above any others, you can taste the passion and quality they put into selecting those ingredients. Besides that you also come for the Indian hospitality, I even recommend coming once (or more) per month. Being a stranger does not exist in this restaurant and that’s the most beautiful thing you can experience in life. Thanks Payea and Neo, family 🧡🤍💚

We eat here virtually every single week & the food is just delicious, the balance of flavours & spices is always perfect. We are welcomed like royalty. The staff are friendly, welcoming & extremely efficient. The vibe is really nice. I can highly recommend Royal India! The vegan pashwari naan & garlic naan are so good. We also love vegan Chana masala, vegan Chana Gobi….but we are spoilt for choice here. We take friends & family here and they love it too. We normally pay around €60-€70 for 2 people including drinks, which is very reasonable! It’s popular & busy so best to book a table beforehand if you can, but they’ll always try to find space for you if they can. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
