Booked
a
trip
for
6
people
at
this
hotel
over
the
Belgian
public
holiday
(check
before
you
book!!).
I
found
out
that
many
bars
/
restaurants
would
be
closed
so
tried
to
cancel
two
days
before
we
arrived.
Trains
are
also
reduced
over
this
period
of
time.
The
booking
I
had
allowed
free
cancellations
up
to
three
days
before
we
were
due
to
arrive.
I
found
out
two
days
before
we
were
due
to
arrive
that
there
was
a
public
holiday
(this
was
yesterday),
so
on
the
terms
and
conditions
they
are
well
within
their
rights
to
charge
a
cancellation
fee.
I
contacted
the
hotel
to
cancel
explaining
the
situation
and
the
response
was:
“Good
morning
Mr.
Xxxx
Thank
you
for
your
message.
On
the
11th
November,
bars,
restaurant,
touristic
attractions
are
open.
The
shops
will
be
closed.
Kind
regards,
Meliesa”
There
was
no
offer
to
cancel
and
no
apology.
They
were
also
suggesting
that
things
would
be
open
despite
me
having
no
success
booking
any
restaurants
and
being
told
over
the
phone
that
they
would
not
be
open
due
to
the
public
holiday.
I
tried
emailing
again
asking
for
them
to
consider
reducing
or
waiving
the
cancellation
fee,
given
I
was
only
one
day
late.
Once
again,
there
was
a
very
short
email
telling
me
that
they
would
charge
€180
per
room.
Terrible
customer
service.
Yes
they
are
within
their
terms
and
conditions
and
I
get
that,
but
the
way
this
was
communicated
is
woeful.
I’d
avoid.
