Unique, grand city palace with Chinese salon where Marie Antoinette and many other dignitaries stayed. Free entrance. Your free contribution is appreciated. Visit this together with the Arnold Vander Haegen House, across the street.

What a fantastic museum! This 18-century house is a hidden gem in the city center, unraveling the story of the past as you go through the chambers (and the are many of them). It's a fabulous place that you want to keep exploring for hours on end. Make sure you go downstairs to discover the cellars! I wish it were open more often, and that more people knew about this pearl!

It's like a magnificent jewel in the middle of a jewellery box. It's a beautiful piece of history right in the heart of Gent. It's been a pleasure visiting this absolutely must to see historic place. Besides, the kind, helpful, and assisting staff was a cherry on top.

Hane Steenhuyse, located in the heart of Gent, is a culinary gem with a rich history. Housed in a beautifully preserved historic building. The house itself whispers tales of centuries past. It’s worth visiting & knowing about its history

An incredible look into the lives of the aristocracy of the 18th Century. The staff are absolutely lovely, incredibly knowledgeable and have resources in English, French and Dutch. Definitely a must see in the city!

One of the best museums to visit in Ghent. This house-museum may not be very big (about 10 rooms to visit) but it is in perfect condition, maintaining all the luxury it used to have in the past. Beautiful items, ceilings, furniture, baroque atmosphere etc.And all these for free! (Of course you can make a small donation in a box they have, which i suppose would be very useful for them). There are also guided tours on Fridays and Saturdays which you need to pay for, but it will be for free of you have the 48/72hrs Ghent city card.

Nice old historical house. Free donation. Only open Friday to Sunday afternoon. No on site parking. Allow for 30 minutes. Don't skip the cellars.

Just happened to visit it and definitely an amazing museum tour. Receptionists are friendly and nice old men and they introduced warmly. Organized exhibition for everything, and quiet backyard.

One of Ghent's highlights, it is a pity that this building is no longer a tourist attraction and is actually a bit neglected by the Ghent city council.

Absolutely worth a visit, an amazing gem in the heart of the beautiful city of Gent. This 18th century city palace can currently be visited in the weekend, for free. The ballroom was my absolute favorite.

This is really worth a visit. It is in fact not a museum. It takes you to an imaginary visit in one of Gent's most noble families' home. You see their magnificent private rooms, dressed tables, made beds etc. It is like visiting friends. The parquet in the ballroom is breathtaking. Visit is free.

A hidden gem right in the busiest street of Ghent. The city palace is owned by the City and entrance is free, but you can leave a donation to help finance the maintenance.

It's one of the best museums I ever seen. All rooms looks like owners just leave for a minute and will be back soon. You can really feel how rich people lived in 19 century. Highly recommended for authors who write about this epoch. It's free but you can put tips in box at the entrance. Stuff is very friendly and nice.

Amazing old townhouse with beautiful originally decorated rooms. It's definitely worth a visit as it has an interesting story and it's free! Don't miss the fully furnished kitchen in the basement :) The staff there was very friendly as well.

Perfect for if you've got 30' left and want to see a hidden gem in the city center. It shows the oppulence of the time, but also the beauty

A beautiful palace right at the heart of Ghent, there is nothing like it in the rest of the city. It is often overlooked as it has only been open for public viewing for a relatively short time. Here is to hoping that will change.

Wonderful place to visit. A real gem, hidden in the busy shopping street. I was lucky enough to be able to go when it wasn't very crowded. It's clear that a lot of effort went into this museum/palace/hotel. From restoring the rooms and furniture to creating soundscapes that take you back to the period. The guide was very helpful. I would highly recommend this place if you're sightseeing in Ghent.
