The charming place with dozens of cocktails and single malted whisky. Drinks are not very big and quite pricy, but you pay not only for drinks. You enjoy amazing view, warm atmosphere and classy service.

Lovely boutique hotel. Absolutely adored it. Probably not the best for people with mobility issues or small children (while they do have a ramp, it looks like they have to let it down at the guest's request, and a lot of the rooms have stairs). We had a great view of the Christmas market and the church from our room. Also loved the breakfast buffet (the croissants were amazing), and they have one of the best bars in town with very interesting drinks.

If you have a date or you simply want to surprise someone with a fun experience then the Cobbler is definitely recommended. The experience starts from the moment you walk arrive downstairs and have take the stairs or elevator to go to the top floor. Once you arrive you find yourself in an old building that just looks marvellous on the inside. The details in the interior are breathtaking, the people serving you are are extremely well trained and have extensive knowledge about drinks and flavour palette. I always ask them to make something new based on what I like. Every time I am surprised. The price is very acceptable, so you definitely shouldn’t hesitate to visit. Enjoy!

Exploring the city we found by coincidence The Cobbler. The selection of drinks is outstanding. Prices are high but considering the view, the quality, environment , the atmosphere is worth it. It is not required, but I recommend formal dress code. We were wearing as regular tourists and we would preferred to be there well formal dressed, just to enjoy and match the ambiance.

Part of De Post hotel located on the 1st floor. Not quite as boojie at it first seems with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. The mixologist has an extensive knowledge of cocktails, we ordered "off piste" and were not disappointed. Be prepared to pay between €10 - €15 per cocktail.

Great bar inside the post. Atmosphere of a gentlemen's club. Friendly staff. I felt their choice of cocktails was a bit exotic and relatively exclusive; being allergic to almonds, many of their drinks weren't suitable for me. However when I asked for an alternative, I got a nice off-the-menu edition. Thanks for that.

The Cobbler is a very special place. It has its posh vibe with the old timey interior and they truly know cocktails. In every sense. Their bartenders are always eager to serve you their own creations, or guide you through the comprehensive menu, or even make one tailored to your taste. If you're looking for literally the best cocktail experience in Gent then you need look no further.

Cool menu but most of the bartenders are not very knowledgeable and seem to be busy entertaining each other more than their guests

This is perhaps my favorite hotel I've ever stayed at. The atmosphere is incredible - it has all the modern conveniences and cleanliness of a hotel that has been completely redone, but housed in a captivating, historic building. The location right along the water is impossible to beat. Everyone we talked to was friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

The Staff at The Cobbler in Ghent are super friendly and helpful. They recommend good cocktails, give you information about the cocktails they’re serving and all with a friendly smile. The interior is Stylish and Traditional. If you want you can sit next to a window to enjoy a breathtaking view of Ghent city.

I have stayed in many hotels across the globe and this beats every single one of them. The room, the location, the comfy bed, the breakfast, the whole atmosphere that breathes history. Attention to detail in everything. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The breakfast selection offers everything from savoury cheeses, quiches and eggs to homemade sweets, jams and a variety of breads and pastries. The breakfast room turns into a bar in the evening and you can easily imagine yourself in a different era living a life of leisure. Would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Ghent.

You could argue that in the duplex rooms, the design gets tired pretty quickly (toilet downstairs, wash basin upstairs; that there’s no mirror downstairs; and the fake photocopied letters lying on the desk are one step too kitsch) but the duplex is so different to the bulk-standard hotel room that you can forgive most things. The arched girders in the bedroom are stunning, and the colour scheme is sooo brilliantly not-hotel. I was disappointed that there were no signature cocktails on the evening I visited as the bartender was sick (what, he carries the secret recipes with him at all times?) and the bar did seem a bit too bright for a cocktail bar, but the same room for breakfast was pure delight. I allowed a lot of time there and enjoyed every quirky, delicious moment. Despite appearances that the hotel occupies the whole former post office, this really is a small hotel with no facilities beyond the room that is used for the bar and breakfast. And there’s no grand entrance lobby as you might expect – just a back door that seems a bit of an afterthought – and a reception area that’s tiny. Yet, the feel of the place and the sheer delight of being a non-traditional hotel ranks this place so highly. However, above all, it is the team who work here: to a person they are warm, friendly, and super-helpful. Yes, you are paying top-Euro for the experience but stay for breakfast and soak it all in.

This is one of the most interesting, fun, and remarkable hotels anywhere. Being situated in the old post office building across from the kornmarket and in the middle of the old town on the canal, etc. etc., is quite the reason to stay. However, the rooms are remarkable for both their features as well as the eclectic mix of antiques and layout. Go for one of the suites - they are definitely worth it. Stayed four nights over Christmas. Beautiful decorations and treats in the room each evening. Great service and has very good bar in the hotel (very limited food at lunch/happy hour only). Great staff, very friendly and always ready to help. Got to be one the best hotels anywhere just for the uniqueness and comfort.

Amazing location. Get a view over the old town and canal, while sipping one of the amazing cocktails prepared by a dynamic, creative, friendly team out of the finest liquors out there. Let yourself be tempted by the Cobbler's special. A fantastic experience to recommend at the heart of Ghent.

Saw a small sign on the street saying Craft Cocktails outside a beautiful old building. We climbed the stairs up to the third floor to find a beautiful bar, absolutely delicious drinks, a wonderfully decorated bathroom and it turns out they even have a few lavish hotel rooms on the top floor. Definitely come here for at least one drink to enjoy the atmosphere and the wonderful view of the city. I’ll be coming back the next time I travel to Ghent!

(Translated by Google) Super nice place! Very happy that we discovered this! Nice interior, view of the water, good music, top service. The menu (via QR code) is also phenomenally well put together. A nice glass of cucumber water while you look at the menu or wait for your drink. Yes, you have to wait a while, but a well-mixed cocktail with a beautiful finish takes time. You can't rush perfection. 🤷‍♀️ Our cocktails were fine to the last detail. We are happy to pay the price for that. Chapeau! Keep up the good work! (Original) Super leuk plekje! You can't rush perfection. 🤷‍♀️ Onze cocktails waren tot de puntjes in orde. Daar betalen we graag de prijs voor. Chapeau! Doe zo verder!

(BTW there were more than enough tables free to set new customers). This is only an honest review of a person with long experience in the hospitality industry. The Cobbler, very arrogant service and certainly not recommended. Shame about the decor and the location otherwise no problem with the atmosphere / ambiance. Fancying a cocktail? Fancying a cocktail that's not your average margarita? Fancying a cocktail that's not your average margarita and drink it in one of the nicest venues in town? If you answer 'yes', The Cobbler is what you're looking for. It's a bit high-end, which is great if you want to splurge a bit or just want to enjoy a nice drink in a relaxed atmosphere. If you just want a drink or get wasted, The Cobbler is not for you. I had the Tierra del Fuego and it blew my mind.

This is a very elegant cocktail bar perched above the canalside with beautiful views of the surrounding architecture. It's on the first floor up a few flights of steep spiralling stone stair - I'm fairly confident there was a lift but we didn't use it. The sun pours in through the West facing windows in the evening which feels particularly magical. The cocktails on the menu are distinctive and inventive - we all tried something different and there were no complaints! I think the Earl grey infused campari Americano was the most delicious! I made a note of the recipe to try and recreate at home. The cocktails aren't cheap but I wouldn't say that they were expensive for the area - the ingredients are high quality too. The staff were attentive, friendly and clearly know how to mix a proper drink! We were offered cucumber water whilst we made up our minds. They were happy to make us a dirty martini on request. I think the only critique is that it feels very much like a hotel bar - a little uniform in colour tone and generic in its interior design. It feels very classy but it could be in any other major European city! Nitpicky I know but I love interiors almost as much as I love cocktails. I'll certainly come back next time I'm in gent.

Boutique hotel where everything has a sense of luxury and chique to it. Exquisite rooms and service in the center of the city. A hidden gem for those looking for a top class experience. No spa/pool/fitness but if you don't need those amenities and are looking for high end stay: this is your hotel.

A hotel with special personality and beautiful atmosphere in the heart of the charming city of Ghent. Rooms with high ceilings, excellent cleanliness and friendly service. A bar with nice cocktails and a well stocked “honesty” bar for late night drinks. Not to be missed!!

Most certainly the best stay in Gent ! The breakfast and location are great, but then the rooms and internal decoration just throw you back in time for the perfect mood! On top of that, the service is excellent, and what a bar!! A bit expensive, but worth it all!

Gem of a hotel in Gent and maybe all of Belgium! It's always great to be able to walk into your room and say "Wow!" and this is one of the places you can definitely say that. The location is smack in the middle of where most of the touristy stuff, shops, and restaurants are. The breakfast offering can meet everyone's needs whether you want a hot meal or just a simple pastry and coffee. Service at the hotel also was fantastic and everyone was very friendly and helped answer any questions about the town or hotel. The toiletries are Le Labo if you care. Finally, the Cobbler Bar in the hotel is another unique touch to the experience and I would recommend going at least once! Their cocktail menu, which appears to change often, is filled with eccentric drinks and the bartenders there can help narrow down a recommendation.

Very nice experience. The service was splendid as was the room. Unfortunately we were not able to visit the cocktailbar because it was to busy, but we drank a cocktail in the room which was great. Breakfast was awesome in general.

Such a cool place. 2 floor hotel room overlooking the square and the cathedral across the way.

  • 2/5 A M. 2 years ago on Google
WATCH OUT! When we checked in the receptionist said breakfast was included with the room, but at checkout they charged us 50 euro for two breakfasts! We told them we were told the previous day that it was included, but they didn’t care or even apologize for misleading us. They were, however, more than happy to charge it to our credit card. There are so many pretty centrally located hotels in Ghent, stay anywhere else.

This is an amazing place to stay. Great service (staff were attentive and knowledgeable..... great recommendation for cool restaurants and places to go). Get a room with a view of the square, it's spectacular.

Amazing hotel with outstanding service - the breakfast was a delight and the bar cocktails are to die for. Highly recommend this hotel for any couples getaway - 10/10!

First time here, a fancy place. Gives you the impression of an old sigar smoking room. Located in the old Post office building right near the water. Great place. Also the cocktails to choose from are very well explained even with less of sweetness, bitterness,... oh and for the non alcoholic people they also have some options. The friendly staff and jazzy music made it perfect for an after dinner drink

Delicious cocktails! Jo1 is highly recommended if you like sweet cocktails. Went there two nights in a row because it was so good.

To stay here was the best decision we took in Ghent. The classic old architecture matches perfectly to the old charm the city has and The post gets a 10 on 10 for its location too. The rooms are cozy and the design takes you back years. The service is pretty great and loved their breakfast too! Our room faced one of the bridges and was the closest to the start of the walking tour. The only weird part about the room is that you need to take steps to get to the bathroom! Might get tiring if you are staying for more than one night. All in all - highly recommended!!!

One of the best cocktails I have ever had. Nice view from windows and classy decor.

Cosy looking cocktail bar in the heart of Ghent that’s somehow full even before it opens - I can’t even begin to explain how. The decor and vibe definitely are worth it. There was already a line at 6pm when we left. The cocktails come with a heavy price tag but the one I ordered was really quite nice, so no complains. It’s probably just not a place where I’d have multiple drinks or I’d be wiped out.

I had high expectations for this place due to the price and location. I brought some friends here from out of town who enjoy having a nice cocktail once in a while but coming here killed the buzz of our evening. We waited over an hour before we could get our drinks and almost 15 minutes till we could order. My friend ordered her drink a specific way and finally when the drinks came, it was not correct. We didn’t bother to mention it because it already took so long for the drinks to arrive. I think the employees working did their best and were apologetic about the wait, but there is clearly a staffing issue. There are many nice places in Gent for cocktails at an equal or better price that won’t make you wait an hour.

#1 At the check-in we were told breakfast was included. At the breakfast we were told that only one (we checked in 2 guests) breakfast was included. We were put on the spot at that moment and paid € 30 (!) for a relatively simple breakfast (bad coffee but friendly staff) #2 Beforehand I talked to the hotel about making a reservation for a room with a good view. We even discussed what floor. When we arrived we got a room that had beatifully scenery.... We looked at a McDonalds and a Kareoke bar. #3 In the evening we want to drink something at the bar. But there was no room! It is truly weird that a bar cannot house their guests at a bar. The staff at the bar were also weird. Instead of helping to set us up they told us that we should move in case a other table would come. #4 the bathroom had mold an chalk, there was nothing to wash your hands at the toilet and no information about the hotel in the room. Also, nothing like a bottle of water or something. Every mini thing they charge extra. It was a BAD experience.

This hotel is perfection, from location, to service, to attention to details. Loved it! This is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city, hands down, the most beautiful hotel, the best possible location. The hotel itself is an attraction. Built in 1898 as a Post office, converted into a hotel, it has so many unique features, including the rooms. I couldn't recommend it hard enough. The customer service is superb! The restaurant/bar is great for an evening cup of tea or cocktail. We had a pleasure to experience an absolutely amazing young artist Zem playing an electric harp, famous places as well as her own music. She is phenomenal. She plays and sings. We stayed for hours listening to her, even though we just stopped by for a quick cup of tea. The atmosphere at the hotel is absolutely wonderful. The breakfast buffet was great too. Rather simple, but very enjoyable with the perfect view. Things to know. The entrance is hidden, it is on the river facing side. If you are traveling by car, you must register it online, the reception will tell you where to park and where to register. You don't need it in the city, everything is in walking distance. It is a liw emission zone, so no cars allowed unless registered. Registration was easy. Bathroom in our room was split. The toilet on the first floor and the rest on the second. If you have hard time walking up the stairs, not sure if they have other options, ask. Otherwise, it's perfect! If you are ever in Ghent, stay here, you will not regret it.

Absolutely fantastic. Spending a weekend here feels like an relaxing 2 weeks holiday. Nicest check-in ever. Beautiful room. Very soundproof. Nothing disturbed. Fantastic breakfast in a very calm environment that turn into a very nice cocktail bar. Only problem was the miserable Wi-Fi connection in room 20 - but hey … I wasn’t t in Ghent to work but to relax. And I surely did that! I will return

At the middle of Gent, inside pedestrian zone, don't drive right there or result in a fine. Hotel would reserve a parking lot at 350m away. Close to most sightseeing place at walkable distances. Nice view at cobbler room on 1st floor. Albert Henjin is on basement outside hotel, very convenient.

This hotel has forever changed my standard for a great hotel stay. We stayed in the tower room and it was the best customer service experience I have received in a hotel before. Every detail was perfect and the bedding was brand new. How does a hotel feel so old and historical yet so brand new is still amazing to me. Perfection

We just checked in and if the rest of our stay is as great as the welcome reception we received this will be a memorable stay. The front desk spent the time to point out location attractions and gave great advice when to visit. Our room is fantastic.

Awesome hotel, rooms and staff. Only minor point is you cant drive up to the hotel and have to park across the bridge. Only a few minutes walk but something to note.

We were for the first time in Gent and went to this hotel. The description to go to the parking was very helpful. The welcome at the reception was very warm and kind. The receptionist even accompanied us to the room. We got a free delicious cocktail. And the breakfast was fabulous. The room had a very nice bathroom on an other level within the room. We liked that a lot. Very creative. Every space in the building is nicely restored and decorated. We surely will be back someday

We loved our stay at The Post. Location is wonderful, the ambience and the hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous, and the cocktail bar is delicious. Ruth and the other gentleman at the concierge were so incredibly helpful and offered great recommendations; they went above and beyond. The cocktail bar staff was also so friendly and talkative; we really enjoyed all the tips and tricks about Ghent everyone had to offer. The blackout curtains were key to a good nights sleep and the showers, products, and robes were all really cozy. The only thing to note is that the bathroom is on the first floor while the sink/shower is on the second. However, this did not detract from our stay; this was a wonderful hotel with fantastic service and we would definitely stay again.

Absolutely stunning hotel! Everything was amazing, it was one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in. The wow factor when you walk up - wow! Staff was friendly and helpful; Bar was nice with private seating area for hotel guests; rooms were beautiful. The hotel is kept in pristine condition and the location is perfect to walk everywhere. A must if you’re staying in Ghent and well worth adding a night or two in Ghent to experience the hotel!

Very unique rooms with a fantastic view. The cobbler bar made really good drinks. Only downside was trying to get from the parking over to the hotel can be a challenging walk over cobblestones pulling luggage.

Beautiful hotel. Located within walking distance of all the important attractions. Excellent service. Wish I could’ve stayed longer at the hotel. Would want to visit again.

The tower room has been by far the most incredible hotel experience I ever had. Amazing view on the market, big and comfy bed, and an absolutely luxurious bathroom with high-quality cosmetics. Great choice for a romantic anniversary. Also, a beautiful building, truly friendly and attentive staff, a cute 'honesty bar' with a nice selection of drinks, and the absolute best location you could get in Ghent.
