I recently stayed at the Marriott in Ghent during mid December, and overall it was a good experience. The location of the hotel is great, as it is beautifully located near the canals and easy to walk to restaurants and the Christmas markets in the winter. However, it is not as walkable to the train station when it is freezing outside. The staff were friendly, and the bartender was great. The size of the hotel is massive, and we didn't try the breakfast buffet, but it is offered. The hotel has a large screen TV in the bar area that played the World Cup each night, which could get a bit loud. As gold members, we received a free drink, which was a nice touch. The beds were fine, and the shampoo and conditioner provided were quite nice. The coffee was made with single-serve pods in a machine, and the mini bar included a few free drinks (one beer, water, and soda). The price of the hotel was reasonably priced for the time of year, and I would consider going back. The only downside was that the elevators could be quite slow during busy times of check-in/check-out.

This is a beautiful hotel and it is well maintained. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The staff are courteous, professional and intelligent. They respond quickly to requests and did not miss a beat. The hotel is located along the canal, treating guests with a beautiful scenery, and it’s really convenient to walk to and from the middle of town.

Great location, central within east walking distance of restaurants, shops and bars. Amazing views of river. Professional and helpful staff, the breakfast was first class - both quality and selection! Parking available underneath the hotel - we booked and reserved a space in advance which is worth doing if driving.

We stay there in July 2022 during the time of National Holiday. There is music festival. Room stay quiet even though it’s very lively outside of hotel. We also opt in for the breakfast buffet. Choices and food was fantastic. My family if 4 love the stay as well as the breakfast buffet. Services in hotel and restaurant were fantastic.

We had a truly magical stay at The Ghent Marriott Hotel. We took our two small children for their first trip to Belgium and it was the best location. Walking out the back of the hotel to the incredible character and beauty of the canal and buildings was spectacular. I can’t say enough how perfect the location of this hotel is. You are within walking distance of all the best sites. We had a minor issue during check in but the General manager Laurens went above and beyond to rectify the situation. I have since recommended the stay to 3 colleagues who have had incredible stays as well. I will most definitely come back and highly recommend!

The location is fantastic and the rooms have air conditioning. As another bonus, families of more than two can be in the same room together because many have two beds—very unlike the majority of places in Europe. Everything is in a walkable distance from here so you can’t go wrong if you’re trying to be centrally located. Overall, it was a comfortable stay that made the trip convenient. Be prepared to pay the price, though, as there’s nothing cheap about this hotel or location. The underground parking is very convenient, too, and large enough for more SUVs (but don’t expect to raise the back door).

Lovely hotel. Been there with the family and the staff were Great and friendly, always happy to help. They made all arrangements to ensure we had a nice stay. As in most hotels I didn't get a lot of choice in breakfast since we don't eat pork and beef related meat, so had to go on bread and eggs. It's in front of the river and 5 mins walk to the town center so it is in a very convenient place. They have a basement parking which was useful. Unfortunately due to renovation work going on the ACs were not working.

Location, location, location. We had a fabulous stay at this beautiful hotel in the heart of Ghent old town. Our room was clean and very comfortable. There was a large flat screen TV with a choice of channels from around the world (including CBBC for the kids) and the free wi-FI was excellent. The breakfast was really tasty and available from 7-11 at the weekends. The service was super helpful and really friendly. But best of all was the wonderful location. Highly recommended.

Excellent location in the center of Ghent close to the canals, shops, bars and restaurant. They have their own parking and spacious room. Amenities were all good. Easy check in and friendly staff. The elevator is a bit slow and the bathrooms are a little bit dated. The overall experience was great tho.

So I’m gonna give this 5 stars but right now the hotel would be a 4.5. There is ongoing construction, my air conditioner was making a horrible noise when on the highest setting and as u can see from the pics the bathtub faucet is falling apart and u can see the caulking. Now with all that said the location is perfect can’t ask for a better spot. We stopped back at the room numerous times during the day. I never heard the construction because we were always out and about.

We had a table looking over the canal, service was perfect. Khata took well care of us and had a great sense of humor. Meat was done to perfection, we had t-bone, and asparagus and forest mushroom on the side. Baked potatoes and Belgium fries were brought out as well, two sauces as well. Wine Bordeaux as divine, and the desert, chocolate cake with sea salt and coconut ice cream, no words to describe. I highly recommend this place!

Fantastic location right on the river. Hotel was under construction during peak season so some noise and blockages. Breakfast was great - the waiter Pascal was very friendly and provided top notch service!!

Bed was comfortable. Check in was polite. Parking gate didn’t work well. Elevators need a simple explanation at the check in, many people confused using them. Room 107 doesn’t close when you leave unless you aggressively pull the door closed. Location is amazing. Breakfast was put together well and servers at breakfast were polite. Bar tenders were nice but need to work on amaretto sour…spicy isn’t a description that is normal for that traditional drink.

Fantastic hotel right in the city centre of Ghent. The hotel is great and offers everything you need, there is a restaurant and ‘night shop’ + the rooms are spacious and very clean. All attractions are within walking distance! The staff is very friendly and happy to offer any recommendations for activities and restaurants. This is a truly exceptional hotel and I would highly recommend it to anyone (business or leisure) visiting Ghent!

One of the top Marriott properties I've ever been to. Prime Location, right in the heart of the city. It's literally walking distance away from everything. The front desk staff was super nice and helpful- Sophie and Elena. The bar was hype, the gym was neat, and the rooms were clean! Overall, it was a pleasant experience and will definitely be staying here again when in Ghent next!

Breakfast with family. This morning we had breakfast with the family at the Marriott in Ghent. Prior to Covid we had regular breakfasts at Marriott and were always happy with the spread and quality. This morning was disappointing. Marriott did not offer anymore cakes and pies, Danish pastries (except some self-baked deep fried " pain au chocolat" and croissants. The waffle baking (kids love this) was not anymore there. The Eggs Benedict we ordered were mediocre at best (Hollandaise sauce not fresh). We ordered a caffe Latte, but the Dutch server did not understand this and brought us an ordinary coffee (without milk). The breakfast is not on anymore with the expectations we had when going to a 4* Marriott hotel. Clearly the prices stayed the same. Conclusion: unless they raise the bar and go back to the level prior to Covid, I cannot recommend the Marriott Gent anymore for a family breakfast.

This is a great location right in the centre of the city. I stayed with my wife and two kids for 3 nights on our tour across Europe. We were travelling by train and it was about a 20-25 min walk from the train station but once there everything is right there. I was a bit disappointed at first that the hotel is so modern inside and I did not think it had a ton of character but after a couple days there the comfy beds and hanging out down in the lobby with a Belgium beer won me over. Place had a nice vibe. I would definitely recommend it. Would be awesome to have a room with a canal view and I wish I asked at check in what that would have cost. I had thought I would maybe get that being a Marriott gold member

Ghent was a beautiful town and this wonderful hotel was right in the middle of the historical district. Perfect location. I loved our room and the staff was so nice and helpful. I would stay here again and recommend to everyone.

I strongly recommend ! The staff is lovely, the gentlemen at breakfast absolutely charming, and room 333... amazing view in the canal! (Kept curtains open during the night to.admire the view of the multiple tower bells of the city and it was spectacular. See photos from the room) The room in itself is very enjoyable, large enough, all super clean, 100% sound-proof (light sleepers, do not worry about noise with closed windows), and mattress very good too.. Breakfast definitely worth it too. Thanks Marriott Ghent & Bonvoy!

A good Hotel located perfectly in the city center. I had a good night sleep on a comfortable bed. I have not tried any other Hotels in Ghent but I would still recommend the Marriott

Hotel was very nice. The room was adequate on 5th floor but no view. TV was big and bed was super comfy with great pillows. Breakfast buffet was good with everything you expect plus you can order omletes if you want. Plenty of fresh fruits and squeezed OJ. But the best part of the hotel is the location. Walk out the entrance and you are in a great area within 10 to 15 minutes walk to everything. Amazing evening views on the canal and we'll lit up (see pictures). We parked in a public parking garage about 5 minutes walk and for 24 hours only $14 when the hotel charges $40.

Beautiful lobby architecture and excellent location right down on the canal. A few rooms overlook the canal, but most do not. Hotel was fully booked during our stay. Lobby bar staff was not so friendly both night, would suggest going elsewhere for drinks.

We had a very nice stay at the Ghent Marriott. The location is ideal to be able to walk to the main attractions as well as all the central cafes. It was a beautiful property. The hygiene of the hotel was really good and no complaints as it was nice to have room cleaning daily. The bathtub/shower was not great but it was ok. The breakfast buffet was pretty good and had a nice variety. Eggs were not great as they were left quite runny but all else was good. The staff, front desk, bartenders, hosts and hostesses were all very helpful and treated us as valued guests. In particular the two bartenders we got know, guess we drink a bit 😂, we're fun and chatty but not intrusive when we wanted to chat between ourselves. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone traveling to Ghent.

This hotel is just wonderful! The staff is very friendly at the hotel and very considerate and helpful. The rooms are spacious and quiet and the hotel is very nice and in the perfect location of Ghent. My family of 6 stayed there for 8 nights and we can’t wait to be back!

Typical Marriott hotel, room was a bit on the small side but fine for 1 person. The public space was pretty impressive and you can't find a much better location for a hotel in Ghent. The guy at the reception was nice and helpful. Breakfast was good, enjoyed the salmon omelet.

First of all: nothing can beat the location of this hotel. You’re smack down in the middle of the historic city center of Ghent. Everything from check-in to the housekeeping staff are top notch but a special shout-out to Ambrosia behind the bar is definitely warranted. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bartender so passionate and knowledgeable about her craft. This woman is going places in the mixology world. Thank you for the delicious drinks!!

I m a frequent Marriott member, i think reception is average with certain staff. Parking is tremendously expensive. No piece of advice in anticipation. And surprise at invoice for 5 hours parking. Hotel is just great and breakfast amazing

Chose this hotel for its location, Easy drive from UK with its own under ground garage. and very close to the centre of Ghent. The staff were 5 star all very provisional in their respective positions nothing was too much trouble.
