We stayed at this site on the 20th May 2023, wish I had read all of the reviews first. Over the last 7 months we have used 90 different sites and aires, and this one is possibly the worst. When you factor in “value for money” it definitely is the worst as we paid €40 for a Saturday night. After the queue to check in at 13:00 we were allocated a pitch. There was already someone on the pitch! Back to reception where we were allocated a second pitch. This looked like a building site, very unpleasant and very far away from the electricity point. Back to reception, who offered to lend us an extra hook up lead for a €50 cash deposit! We didn’t have enough cash so then they wanted to take my driving licence to “keep safe in an envelope” I don’t think that is safe. I said I would have a rebate and not use electricity but apparently nobody can do that, so allocated a third pitch which “is closer to electric and not on an ugly building site” On to the third pitch now, already lost lots of our 22 hours for €40, our plan was to arrive and go straight into the city. The third pitch was again too far from the electric, I have 35m cable and would need to run the lead over the area where people walk, children ride bikes, cars, caravans and motorhomes drive, so risking damage to it, no thanks. So we did not use the electricity we were charged for, thank you. There were not many showers, so very busy. The water overflowed and ran outside of the block onto the path and was unpleasant inside too. The facilities are extremely in need of refurbishment. The grounds are pleasant but need some maintenance, quite overgrown. Al in all a poor experience made worse by the fact that it was €40 to stay for 22 hours. And there was no chance of getting connected to WiFi… Unless you are desperate, just use the park and ride for €6, the free shuttle bus is for anyone to use anyway, not a specific perk of the campsite. You really must do better if you are to be so expensive, you must do better also if you were to be half the price.

Worst showers I have ever experienced in a camping. No water pressure, totally calcified, no temperature regulation possible, stinky and packed with mosquitoes waiting to eat you alive. We payed 35 € for one night, 2 persons and a motorhome with electricity. Most expensive camping in Belgium we have stayed and the worst so far.

Today is the First day When the New Company started. So the campsite is Open again! We are here with our dog and everithing is Fine! Of course there are some little Problems because they Had a new owner But im sure these problems will be solved in a short range of time! So all in all, a Good nice campsite with nice and clean sanitary areas and a Green Surrounding including a nearby lake with a Beach and a playground for children definetly Good for the summertimes. Highly Recommend this campsite.

Ghent is a great place to visit, almost as nice as Venice with it's biridges over the waterways, and pedestrian priorities. This campsite is well organised with excellent facilities. A free shuttle bus takes you into the heart of the town.

Campsite is in a good location to visit Gent and had friendly reception staff. However, the rest of our camping experience was awful. We are seasoned campers and this is the worst campsite we’ve stayed at. The camp pitches don’t drain well so it is very muddy and swampy. The toilet facilities were smelly and the showers were cold. The smell of sewerage was evident at the camping pitches. This seems like a campsite that used to be good but has fallen into disrepair. However, renovations are in progress so hopefully it will get better.

We haven't even spent one night here and not happy. Right next to a motorway. Absolutely no way we will get any sleep tonight. Pitch is boggy and nothing like the website advertises. Paid for 3 nights we may move on in the morning. A good site if the sound of heavy traffic soothes you. Only positive is the lovely staff.

A real shame, good location, but cold showers, shower facilities messy. Campsite noisy. Could do with two fields. Quiet and lively. Felt sorry for any families with little kids. Stayed here while cycle touring with a friend.

Two things which I liked about the campsite: Polite staff and good location. Other than that, the rest were not so great. The WC and showers are not well maintained. WC reeks of urine smell and some shower benches are broken. The grey water disposal area is not well designed. It was causing a traffic congestion in the compound with vehicles waiting to offload in the morning. The camping ground is extremely muddy and slippery. It was unpleasant to walk in and out from the compound The lighting is insufficient. The walkways are very dark at night with muddy slippery puddles. And the loud music!! My goodness. There was extremely loud music coming from a nearby club or concert which went on until past 2am! Are there no regulations for noise pollution?

Not happy with this campsite. Toilets were dirty most of the time. One washhouse was locked the other always super dirty with showers were you couldn't regulate the temperature, the one near the reception was a little better but some of the toilets were broken and unusable. The shower drains and sinks were always clogged as well. There were no street lights except one at the reception so if you stayed at the very end you had to head back in complete dark. Also they gave the biggest spots away to camper vans/motorhomes and smallest to Caravans which makes no sense since caravans need more space as you need to park your car as well. We didn't even fit in the first spot given to us and had to ask for a different one and we weren't the only ones to do so. Wifi didn't work well either. And there was only one electricity spot for all the lots in our area so everyone had to lay their cables all over the campsite to connect them to electricity. Also old broken fire extinguishers were stored in the dishwashing room for no reason and nearly took up all the space there. The trash was also emptied not often enough so the bins were often overflowing. Really the only positive thing to say is that the staff was nice and spoke many languages but that doesn't help when pretty much everything else was a disaster. And there was a free shuttle bus directly to Ghent center which was nice.

Lovely campsite, good sized pitches, toilet block/Shower block spotless. You can place an order of fresh bread etc for the following morning. Superb location with a free shuttle bus or normal bus that will take you into the beautiful city. Take the No19, 38 or 39 into/out of the city. Lots of sporting venues around and a nearby beach. Great site, we will be back 👍🏼😎

Lovely site, good private pitches and lots of shower blocks. Nice bar and freshly made pizzas. Situated in Blaarmeeson which is a beautiful park with man made beach and lots of facilities. 10 minute cycle ride to Gent centre.

Nice camping site but really really messy management. Gave sites that didn't exist to multiple guests and were not very accommodating in helping relieving the situation. Also, way to less toilets on our side of the camp site.

My first camping experience in Belgium. It was a lovely spot with various sports facilities. Great place for kids. The man-made swimming pool was a good refreshment for Summers. It looks stunning at night if you're lucky to have a full moon. Great spot for your pet dogs too. Extremely friendly staff. Definitely recommend for a short weekend! The tent was spacious and appropriate for 4pax. Had hammock right outside. But it got extremely hot during the day with the rising temperature. The bathroom and other public spaces were clean. The only complaint I have is, the toilet should be cleaned a little more and made sure that they are equipped with toilet papers. Rest a great spot for a weekend getaway in Gent!

We stayed on the hardened camper places. It was under trees with plenty of space and privacy. The location is a bit far away from the city center but well connected with shuttle and public bus. What I found a bit lacking is cleaning. It’s obvious that toilets haven’t been throughly cleaned in a while. The toilet paper and soap was finished around midday, not replenished until the next day. It could be because of the festival that weekend but I have my doubts

After being ignored at reception someone else walked straight in and got served. I'm not invisible so not a great start. Quite expensive but disappointing facilities. Two out of the three toilet and shower blocks were shut. The one remaining was heavily used and in a poor state of cleanliness. Reception were unaware that some blocks were shut. No hot water for washing up either. Waste bins were overflowing and drains were blocked. On the up side we had a lovely pizza and drinks at the restaurant. Another plus was was the free shuttle bus into the city. We will not be back again. Travelled all over Europe so have a good idea what to expect.

Good location from which to catch the bus into Gent. The pitches can get a bit waterlogged. Electricity point can be a long way from your pitch. Beautiful bird song in May.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful campsite! Big too, but because of the interior you hardly notice that. Well done! Maybe take a look at the signage? Almost have to read a book now to discover the destination. And maybe the very neat and careful cleaning crew can adjust their schedule a bit? A sanitary block is now closed in the morning at the busiest of the day. You stand there in the morning with an almost bursting bladder in front of a closed toilet! Good luck And see you again! @ (Original) Mooie camping! @

Pros: even grounds, great for tents. Good bathroom facilities with frequent cleaning. Short walking distance from beach in front of a lake, with water slides and life guards. Bakery available with pre-order, and bar and pizzeria Tues to Sat. Cons: situated next to a motorway so expect noise traffic nights and days. Bring earplugs. No noise curfew enforcement, with people have loud music into the night, definitely bring earplugs.

It was OK, you can feel the lack of the AC. When we got there, we had to wait more than 1h to finish cleaning the rooms. In the morning we had to throw our garbage and I find the sanitary place very hard, no lights or signs to indicate the place. But it was fine, beds are OK and it's clean. The only thing you can eat is pizza. But there are lots of places to relax like the beach there

Very nice campsite - rather unusual as it's part of a big out of town sports and leisure campus. There's a lake and a beach and, most importantly, a bar and pizzeria. Reception staff are friendly ands you can order fresh bread and pastries for breakfast. Also, there's a free shuttle bus which will take you into Ghent in about 15 minutes - and Ghent is beautiful. Recommended.

Nice pitches. (We were camping) Free bus into town. Old shower block is not fit for purpose, showers don’t work properly. New shower block is better but no hand dryers and no soap in dispensers. Very noisy road nearby.

Great location, with easy access to the city centre via bike and a free shuttle bus. Ghent was stunning and well worth visiting. We loved the free tickets to the lake beach - it was great to cool off and the kids loved the slides. This site could be great but it feels neglected in some ways - the toilet blocks are not well looked after and there is a disgusting smell of sewage!

Great location but camper van pit he's are a bit muddy. Toilets/showers need updating. Had to wait for a shower in the morning - it's close to the sports facilities and felt like they were getting used by non guests. Very noisy traffic and train line. Brilliant location. Great bar and pizza truck. Free shuttle bus into the city.

Now known as Urban Gardens Camping (previously Camping Blaarmeersen) and open all year round. Perfect location for Ghent but also for getting the train to both Antwerp and Brussels which is what we did over New Year. Good free shuttle into city centre and Number 19 bus for train station. Some boggy pitches so take mats if staying in rainy season. Toilet block clean and hot showers. Small cafe on site and a pizza truck is also open (all months except December and January). Great location for sports with a large lake situated next door. Also great place for travelling with family/ friends who don't have their own accommodation as they have a large number of lodges that can be rented. Electric bikes available to hire on site.

Great campsite with use of the free shuttle into Gent. Facilities clean, warm and the showers were hot and powerful. Pitches are big with hedges to give some privacy.

(Translated by Google) Campsite located right next to the Blaarmeersen recreation area. The campsite is located fifteen minutes by bike from the center of Ghent, except on Sundays there is a free shuttle to the city. The campsite is surrounded by greenery, is quietly located, has a shop - restaurant - chip shop, the pitches are spacious and there is hardening for the motorhome/caravan. The sanitary facilities are basic but clean and the Wifi is free and works perfectly! The proprietors are friendly and helpful. In short, definitely recommended for those who want to visit the beautiful "Artevelde" city.

A great site with spacious pitches. It was a shame that is had been so wet the previous few days. It made the sites rather muddy (one lost star for staff reminding us that is was our own fault if we got stuck!). Breakfast was great a 15 euros (it fed two people - but was advertised as one meal). I thought that the toilets were clean and there were good facilities for water and emptying our chemical toilet. The free shuttle bus into town was great! The site had some lovely walks to take the dog on. We’d recommend it!

very big camping, nice spaces that are separated, warm shower and bathrooms, free shuttle bus to the city just around the corner, online reservation worked very well and friendly staff. we could hear the highway a bit and hence 1 star less but we clearly recommend for a visit of lovely Gent. 30€ for a van and 2 adults for 1 night

Perfect starting point for a visit of Gent. Camping sites are big and nice. Washhouse was a bit old, but clean. Friendly staff. We rented two bikes and headed to St. Michaels Bridge. From there you can visit almost everything by foot.

Fantastic camping location near Ghent. Private (hedgerows separate each) sites (pitches in Europe) near the waterways. There's a cute little pizza place and cafe by reception and hot showers and bathrooms are distributed near the campsites. Electricity is available for motorhomes, there's also glamping tent cabins and full modern wooden cabins. The campground is only a short 15-20 minute bike ride to the city (bikes are available for rent at urban gardens). There's several beach areas and cafe along the way into the city. Ghent is a wonderful beautiful historic city with a lovely town square and plenty of options for 🍻 beer and food.

😠 "We don't take tourists, get out of this property." Even though I was with a little tent and a bicycle. The "reception" lady told me that another camping nearby is closed, I went there and they where open. Should I read between lines!?
