The Kouter, is the Flemisch word for ' higher situated farm land'. So far back goes the history of this emblematic city landmark

Not really a tourist spot in Gent but a nice place to sit and enjoy on a sunny day or when the flower market takes place. The opera house and stock market are on one side of this. We did see a "beer bike" starting out from here.

Nothing much to see here. I was told this is the oldest part of town?

A great square which is easily accessible by car, tram or bicycle. Architecture is inviting and you find hidden gems along the main square as well as through the inner lanes. There are great pubs and eateries to fit all budgets in a and around this place. And the flowers!!! A gorgeous flower market welcomes you on a Sunday. Great place for a stroll.

A very nice court with a beautiful kiosk. This place has supermarkets, banks and also cultural centres to visit. The cultural centres are mostly theatre plays and such. You also have the big famouse Opera of Ghent, also a place recommended to visit. The Kouter is easily reachable with the tram 1 and verg close to the city centre (korenmarkt).
