The Toll House (Tolhuisje) is a one of the interesting historic buildings along the row of guild houses at Graslei in the Historic City Centre of Ghent. It is the believed to be the smallest house in Ghent. In centuries past, this would have been one of the busiest locations on the quay, where duties and taxes were collected on goods traded in the Ghent port. Interestingly, the side walls of Tolhisje are made up simple of the adjacent buildings. The stepped gable dates back to the 17th century. Toll House was restored in 1912 and received further refurbishments in the 1980s. It is a small place so keep you eyes open while walking along Graslei if you want to stop for a few minutes to have a look.

(Translated by Google) Visited this little cafe last Thursday. Small and cozy, cozy and friendly service. What really bothered us was that the waiter had a bad cold and had sneezed 20 times in the time we were there. In these times of corona you would say; if you are sick or if you have complaints, you stay at home. Anyway, who knows, it was hay fever as the best man himself said. But this waiter walked around without a face mask (this was expected of the guests). And that probably bothered us the most; bring sniffling croques to guests in this time without a face mask? Strange, unhygienic and above all irresponsible!

👍👍 As I said to the boss again today: I am glad that you have started the original concept again: no cutlery, no plate, only a croque in a wicker basket, a basket for the potato wedges and a nice fresh drink. And you tell the customer that he can always get cutlery and a plate. I approve. The croques...
