    I had an amazing dining experience at Firewood Flame & Grill. From the ambiance to the food quality, everything was exceptional. The atmosphere was cozy and elegant, with a warm, inviting vibe that made it perfect for a relaxed yet upscale dinner. The was attentive and professional, making sure we had everything we needed. The Pan-seared Fresh Hokkaido Scallop was a delightful appetizer—fresh, tender, and cooked to perfection. The Firewood Homemade Wagyu Burger was juicy and flavorful, with a great balance of rich wagyu beef and toppings. The highlight of the meal was the Australian Angus Ribeye, cooked to medium doneness. It had a beautifully seared crust and was incredibly tender, complemented by the chimichurri sauce and truffle mashed potatoes, which added extra depth of flavor. Overall, Firewood Flame & Grill delivered a fantastic dining experience, good quality of ingredients and excellent preparation and exceptional service from Mr. Uzman make it well worth it. Highly recommended for steak lovers and special occasions!

    The good: Every dish was well executed and delicious. Value was also great considering the portion size n quality of ingredients. Counter seats were spacious and seats were comfortable with full view of the fire cooking process. The not so good: Service was at best average. Except for the service guy in normal clothes who took our orders and pour our drinks when he is able to, we were practically invisible to the rest of the service crew. Main chef re-using same bunch of iron rods to poke n test every single steak doneness with his lower lips. Surely there is a more hygienic way to do this 🤮

    Booked in advance and was super excited to try it. In the end, they didn’t let me down. The beef was great, well-seasoned and prepared. We ended up ordering about 6+ sides since there is a minimum spend fee (why tho???). In the same way, the sides were also delicious. All in, you could tell they spend a lot of time thinking about the flavors and making sure the quality is up to par. It’s not a very formal place, no need to dress up and be prepared that your clothes may stink a little after. But there is a good food so it’s worth it!

    During my trip to Penang, I had the pleasure of dining at Firewood Restaurant, and overall, it was a great experience with some standout flavors. I started with the mushroom appetizer, which I thoroughly enjoyed—it was flavorful and well-prepared. For the main course, I ordered the Norwegian trout, which tasted delicious, and the smokiness of the side lemon added a unique touch. I also had truffle fries, which were decent, though the mayo sauce didn’t quite hit the mark. The main course took quite a long time to arrive, which was a downside, but the service itself was excellent—the staff were very polite, attentive, and made the dining experience pleasant. For dessert, I had the crème brûlée, which was absolutely delicious! It had a perfect caramelized top with a creamy, rich texture inside, making it one of the highlights of the meal. I paired it with an Americano, which complemented the sweetness well. Overall, the food was flavorful, the ambiance was nice, and the exceptional service made up for the delay in food delivery. With a bit of improvement in timing and sauce pairing, this place could be truly top-notch. Would still recommend it for the flavors, hospitality, and fantastic dessert!

    Great place with good food and services. Mr. Usman & Mr. Armin were great at introducing good food & wine to try. Totally have to try their Firewood Duck Royale! The duck breast and also the drumsticks are perfectly done. Juicy, tender & soft with great aroma and crisp! Their Japan A5 Miyazaki Wagyu also at the top of the choice of taste! The tender soft of the wagyu meat will melt in your mouth with a butterish taste. Definitely will be dropping by again for their great food.

    Firewood is an establishment/restaurant in Penang where steak is not just a meal, but a “fine” dining experience. The restaurant offers the finest cuts of beef in which the staffs will help to explain on the availability of cuts/types available via the steak boards and customer also gets to choose their selection of cuts which will be prepared and grilled to perfection. In an open-style kitchen, customer also gets the opportunity to watch skilled chefs grill each steak to perfection, creating a dining experience like no other which is not a common sight to see for the other steak establishments. During my recent visit at the place, I decided to try out the limited offering of 21 days Dry Aged Angus Sirloin MB5 steak. It’s rich, robust and has that exquisite balance of juiciness, texture, with each bite delivers a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness which is truly a pleasure. Aside of steak, also worth noting is their Truffle Mushroom Pasta which is also enjoyable to eat by its own. Its rich, earthy mushrooms blend harmoniously with a decadent truffle-infused sauce, creating a dish that’s both indulgent and comforting. What makes the dining experience even better is their thoughtful and friendly/attentive staffs that goes above and beyond in ensuring every need is met. On my recent visit, the server (name of the server: Maryam if i recall correctly) surprised my partner with a thoughtful birthday gesture—serving a tiramisu cake with a handwritten birthday wishes together with a birthday greeting card. Here, every detail is carefully considered, from the finest steaks/great dining experience to the unforgettable moments that make one’s meal truly remarkable. Kudos to Firewood for making my dinner experience a pleasant ones and surely it will not be my first and last visit to the place!

    Stumbled upon this place whilst searching for good steak places in Penang. Kudos to the team behind the kitchen. We sat at the bar area right in front of the woodfired kitchen and got to witness first hand how the dishes and steaks were prepared. The starters were were well executed. We tried the charred cabbage with garlic shrimp and it was loaded with wok hei. The charred cauliflower was another well balance dish. For mains ordered the cheaper cut (320g Australian Sirloin) it was tender, adequately seasoned and cooked to precision (medium rare), free of any sinew. The aged trout was not overcooked. For wine we had gone for their house wine and it paired well with the meats. Service is casual, not too intrusive. Which I highly appreciate. Mr. Armin in particular stood out for his sincere and warm approach. For it's heftier pricepoint, this place delivers. **This place beats many top steakhouses in Singapore.

    Disclaimer: my review is based on my multiple experiance in fine dining restaurant with Michelin Star awards and rating. I would recommend this place for special celebrations. Their tenderloin is the best cut I've had so far. We loved their grilled cabbage salad and mushroom soup. However, the sweet potato fries are comparable to Nando's, meaning they're nothing extraordinary. The homemade brioche toast with compound butter was rather plain; I couldn't taste anything unique. One thing to be aware of is their strict 2-hour dining time policy. Our bill arrived right on time, which felt a bit rushed. It would have been nicer if they had reminded us of the time limit or asked if we needed anything else before presenting the bill. Additionally, they forgot my dad’s wagyu burger, and it arrived after the rest of us had finished our steaks. This was quite disappointing. The service could also use some improvement. I noticed the floor manager walking around without any communication with the customers, which left me unsure of their purpose. Enhancing the attentiveness and communication of the staff would greatly improve the overall dining experience.

    Beautifuly designed restaurant. Love the vibe, wish we book the bar counter overlooking the grill. Awesome food, well balanced and well seasoned. The lamb is so tender 😋. The grilled prawns on the risotto complement each other. Will come again in the future.

    Our anniversary celebration at Firewood Penang was an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. The steak perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor, especially when paired with the grilled garlic. It was a culinary delight that exceeded our expectations. The starters were equally delicious, setting the tone for the meal, and the dessert was the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic dinner. What truly made the evening special was the thoughtful touch from the restaurant. They surprised us with a personalized anniversary card featuring our picture, along with a lovely gift.     This was absolutely amazing. I’m from England and I genuinely believe that this is one of the nicest restaurants I have ever been too. The food was delicious and so were the drinks. This restaurant deserves to be recognised by Michelin.
