Simple
honest-to-goodness
home
made
western
dishes
in
a
house
that
features
al-fresco
dining
with
lush
green
plants
all
around
you.
That
basically
sums
up
Yaw's
Roast
&
Grill.
It's
been
a
secret
kept
by
local
Penangites
for
many
years,
but
now
that
the
word
is
out,
it's
getting
more
and
more
crowded
nowadays.
Yaw's
started
life
as
Top
Top
Cafe
in
Pulau
Tikus
back
in
the
1970's.
It
was
famous
for
its
western
dishes
and
also
some
local
favourites
back
then.
That
tradition
has
been
kept
alive
into
the
next
generation
but
at
their
own
residence
in
Midlands
area.
It's
not
easy
to
find
the
place,
so
Waze
it.
At
first
glance
you'd
be
forgiven
if
you
missed
the
place,
but
nowadays
it's
easier
to
find
because
there's
a
never
ending
flow
of
people
standing
outside
the
entrance.
Seating
is
in
the
garden
area,
and
you're
surrounded
by
orchids,
trees
and
plants.
There
are
quite
a
few
tables
further
away
from
the
entrance,
but
I
prefer
the
ones
nearer
to
the
entrance
as
they
allow
better
elbow
room.
Some
of
the
favourites
here
are
the
different
chicken
chops,
either
in
Hainanese
style
or
with
black
pepper
sauce.
There's
a
selection
of
fish
dishes
and
steaks
as
well.
One
of
the
must
try
dishes
is
the
chicken
pot
pie
that's
served
in
a
cup
with
a
big
puff
pastry
on
top.
They
offer
ad-hoc
breakfast
specials
as
well
including
Nasi
Lemak
and
Hainanese
dishes
every
once
in
a
while,
so
keep
a
lookout
for
it
on
their
FB
page.
Prices
are
very
reasonable
and
that's
one
of
the
reasons
why
the
place
is
always
packed.
Parking
may
be
an
issue
especially
during
peak
dining
hours,
so
come
early
(like
maybe
6:00pm
-
no
kidding).
