The guesthouse is a beautifully restored old house centrally located within Georgetown, with plenty of great restaurants, street food, and tourist sights within walking distance. Despite this, we nearly always preferred staying in and lounging in the guesthouseโ€™s many sitting areas. A particular favourite is the daybed overlooking the internal courtyard. The guesthouse is decorated with beautiful old furniture and other items that almost takes you back in time. Not to worry though as all the facilities, especially the en-suite bathroom are all modern. The kitchen has a water filter and you are given a bottle in the room that you can fill up. The kitchen is also where the delicious breakfast is served in the morning. Make sure to get the Malaysian classics, the Nasi Lemak or the Roti. Special thanks to the amazing staff members, Sandra in the morning, and Nicholas in the evening. They made our stay very pleasant. My family still talks about the amazing time we had at the East Indies Mansion.

I had a great stay here. It's a beautiful place with high ceilings and good mattresses. Clean, tasteful, spacious. I would absolutely stay here again. And it's in perfect place for exploring the World Heritage area. Note that there's only one key per room, and the reception is not manned 24/7.

Staffs are sincere & polite~ it's beautiful & great experience to stay in a nyonya style home. There's a kitchen full of utensils for guests to cook. The room is big & they clean it everyday~ but there's no TV (we don't mind). Price is reasonable & very convenient to go everywhere! Few minutes walk from Jetty Bus Terminal & surrounded by good food & beautiful old buildings~ The only downside is the whole house isn't soundproofed. So be ready to face baby/kids crying non-stop at night or disrespectful teenagers stomping & laughing loud until 1-2am! (Although the hotel does state very clearly that all guests must try to stay quiet after 10pm)

Very beautiful hotel ๐Ÿ˜ comfortable spacious rooms, cool green court yards. Rooms nice and dark at night time, and also very quiet despite being next to the street. Great location in little India. Nice and helpful staff especially Sandra, who was very knowledgeable about the local attractions and transport.๐Ÿ‘ Nice breakfast and afternoon tea included.

We spent 3 nights at the mansion and we really loved to stay there. The room was really spacious and comfortable, the bathroom clean and practical (we really like the bath gel and the shampoo) and the staff really nice. Sandra was particularly kind to us, taking the time to explain some particularities of the Malaysian culture and population, giving us good tips on what to do of our days. If you ever go to Penang, I can only recommend you to stay at this mansion as it is also perfectly located to discover the city!

The beautiful old building was nicely preserved (or restored), and tastefully decorated. Only certain parts showed the lack of maintenance. It's not that bad but a peeling wall happened to be in our room. We stayed there for 2 nights yet the housekeeping staff didn't clean up the flaky paint (see photo). One reviewer mentioned that his room had no window except one at the bathroom. So was ours. Apart from those, the staff were friendly and helpful. Its location is great. Short walking distance to most of the key tourist spots and eateries. And travellers plugs were provided!

What an amazing place to stay. My family of 10 from Singapore, USA and Australia spent 3 nights there and everyone was pleased which was the most important. What a lovely lady IT is, she went above and beyond to make our stay such a pleasurable experience. The surprise local breakfast IT had purchased for us every morning was always delicious, also her honest , friendly, welcoming and professionalism is outstanding. Also a very big Thankyou to Shohidul for all your help and making my family and I very welcome, you were always willing to help and always with a smile on your face. The place was so clean, comfortable and spacious in such a perfect location. Thankyou from all of us IT and Shohidul, we will definately stay there if we plan another holiday in Penang. Highly recommended, if I could give 10 ๐ŸŒŸ, I definately would.

Had an amazing stay in this historic residence. Hospitality of the staff were great (AiTee), making us feeling welcome throughout the trip. They will provide tips on things to eat and do, which were extremely helpful. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. (However, do note there is a lack of soundproofing so you may hear noises from adjacent rooms). No breakfast is provided but they will provide local snacks. Location is great with many food options nearby and within walking distance to some of the attractions Georgetown.

We stayed at Anistar 1 and the room was huge! Can accommodate up to 4 people comfortably. Loved the interior and space. Aircon was always nice and cold. Not only was there room service everyday, there was also turn down service and treats were left on our bed every night which was nice for late night snacking. WiFi connection was bad in some parts of the room and even if we disconnected the WiFi and used our data (Digi/Celcom), it was still quite bad. Hopefully this can be improved. I also got bitten by a couple of mosquitoes. Location-wise, very easy to walk and get around the main spots of Georgetown.

Wow this place really make you feel special when you stay here, from the beautiful setting to the afternoon tea and the small treat on your pillow at night, it just makes the whole stay fabulous. A huge thanks to the wonderful staff too that are passionate about their work

The place is absolutely beautiful. The staff even more so. Ai Tee l, the manager has a bright future in the hospitality field. My son fell ill he he reached the hotel and she wasn't there. However the staff informed her and she brought manuka honey from her house to soothe his throat. I mean...wow. Kanmani and Shohidul were incredibly helpful especially in our situation with a very ill child. It's a very warm environment and the rooms were beautiful and huge! In that heat, the air-conditioning was on point. Rooms are huge and the bathroom is like something out of a palace. I wish I had more time to stay back!

We had the best experience staying at East Indies Mansion for three days! AiTee and other stuff are extremely friendly, helpful and make us feel at home. The place is a well-preserved old building, super clean, quiet, and nicely decorated. We'll definitely coming back if to visit George Town again.

If you are looking for a truly authentic Penang experience and โ€˜homeโ€™ stay- this is the place. Great location, the entire mansion is super charming. Love the tea snacks- which are local delicious delicacies. Staffs really goes all out to make you feel welcomed and comfortable We are a family of 3 and rooms are spacious with high ceilings, beautiful courtyards. Definitely the place I would recommend if you want an authentic experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, so much so that we stayed for almost 2 weeks! All of the staff are friendly and helpful, the hotel itself is beautiful, and the location in Little India is great. Highly recommend

Great hotel in a historic house in the heart of the old George Town city. Rooms are comfy they kept a really good atmosphere that makes you feel stay in an authentic Chinese villa. The decoration of the common part is great, a lot of plants and beautiful fournitures! The service is great and it was the best breakfast we had in a Malaysian hotel! The vegetarian dim sum set was really good! The service staff is great and really kind. If there is one thing that I would improve a bit is the products available in the room (better hairdryer, add body lotion and some other items for relaxation maybe). Really recommend this hotel if you stay in George town

Beautifully restored building and a great location. Rooms were cleanish, there was gecko droppings and we needed to ask for toilet tissue even after the room had been โ€œcleanedโ€ there was still rubbish on the floor. One of the 3 beds was comfortable the others you could feel the mattress springs. In the rooms with 2 floors there is only air conditioning on the top floor, the bottom room gets quite warm.

One of the best hotel experiences in Georgetown and I had a genuinely warm welcome from Belinda and she gave us tips on places to eat and see. The hotel is in the centre of Georgetown. The room is very clean and it has great design and layout. The hotel area is safe and walkable to all the places. You will never ask for more! If you are in Georgetown, this hotel is a must! Itโ€™s the hidden gem of Georgetown.

Rooms are listed as having king beds, but they are actually full sized. Was also difficult to reach the light switch which was opposite the door and required reaching back between a large bookcase and the wall. Decor was pleasant but sparse, staff were nice; though we couldn't shorten our stay to move to somewhere with a larger bed. Bring repellent for the common area at night.

A fantastic boutique hotel in a great location in Little India. Nothing was too much to ask from the team there with them helping us out with ideas for different experiences and sightseeing around George Town. Rooms were clean. No TV's but this wasnt an issue for us.
