I stayed here two nights on a holiday and found it as a really good place to stay .the room was very nice and neat. The only problem I have is with the toilet in the room I stay they renovated the toilet and it looked very nice but it still had some Corners in the shower that gad mold.the location of the hotel is a bit remote but if you want to try or experience local food and shops it the perfect place to be in.the television had only one Malaysian channel but I really don't mind in the morning the breakfast has a few choices but it is nice and simple. Everything in the hotel is mostly antique. For example, the doors are not opened by key card but keys but I think that's what makes the hotel unique.

Stayed here because of the pictures in Agoda. We booked the largest room available because it had a jacuzzi. But long story short, we bought into an illusion because the place was literally falling apart... The hotel had a change in management after reopening from MCO and were still working the ropes. Our room was directly above the reception area and it had very poor sound proofing because of the wooden flooring. The room although is very large and spacious... it had random and unnecessary furnitures inside and a lot of dead spaces with no use. There was an exercise area with a stationary bicycle and dumbbells... the floor is wood and creaking... imagine a dumbbell slipping out from your hand and crashing thru the floorboards... And the ceiling above our bed was cracking and dust, dirt and stone was falling onto us... We had to move the bed in the middle of the night... And because the room us so spacious... the aircon wasn't strong enough to cool the entire room. It barely reached our bed. And dont get me started on the "swimming pool" there... The largest room isnt worth it.. I peeked into the smaller rooms and felt it would have been a better choice.

Booked the triple bed duplex, it's comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent, just a short away to most of attractions like Armenian street, Kimberley street, the Top@Komtar and plenty of famous eateries dotted around

Only realised there were stairs in every room when we reached there, not suitable for elderly with poor walking ability. The bathroom of room for 5ppls was small. Clean environment and pretty decorations. Self service laundry shop within 3 mins walking distance.

Room was OK for a couple of nights if there were two people. Meal selection not huge due to it's not been a large hotel. Breakfast was OK except cannot get more then one drink per serve. The location is great, either walking into the general area of Georgetown. Take note of building (Top) as that can be you helpful trying to find the hotel location.

The place was great! Plus the room was clean and huge tho! I recommend this place since the staff was helpful. The place are underrated, maybe the location was too far from the main road(town area).

Nice hotel away from the hustle and bustle of George Town yet close enough to walk to Penang road food. Many of the rooms are big lofts with 3 beds and a large bathroom with double shower rooms and WCs and sinks, like a dormitory. Surprisingly no mosquitos in such a big place. Aircons are cold and strong for the hot weather. TV only 1 station. Limited carparks.

Love this hotel.. Really adequate to the price you pay. Even though its not too near to the tourist spot but if you're really a traveller then you don't mind to walk a bit. Enjoy the historical city view. This hotel really catch your attention when you enter the main entrance. It is old but gold and equipped with all the expensive hotel provided but with the great price.

Stayed here for one night. I was immensely impressed with the interior of the hotel. It’s clean and has a nostalgic vibe. Everything was smooth until the electricity went off around 10am on the day we supposed to check out. Tried to reach them multiple times via call and it was ringing but nobody picked up. The power went back after almost an hour and right after that, the receptionist called us to remind about the check out. I feel somehow annoyed because there was not even an apology for the shortcoming occurred. Apart from that, it was a pleasant stay.

This hotel has so much charm and presence. Its a row of prewar houses that has rooms upstairs. Downstairs are restaurants. Rooms are cosy. They have a big rooftop area to run around and enjoy the scenic view of Penang. Hotel has parking next to the hotel. Walking distance to all the famous eating places and sights.

The hotel itself is really cute and some of the staff are very welcoming. There were two major problems with the hotel. First breakfast. You need to order you breakfast the day before with limited options. If you're staying a while expect to get bored. Also expect a wake-up call at 9:30 if you don't arrive promptly for breakfast. Honestly we'd already paid and French toast can be kept for a day so getting a call to tell us we had to come down felt quite rude and really upset our stay in the hotel. Second that pool is technically a pool in that it's a pool of water. It's not a swimming pool however.

Hotel is at nice location and structure is nice as it is antique, but the hotel itself is poorly managed. 1. Room smell of molds 2. When enter room no light but tv playing prayer. Spooky, & scary 3. Ceiling noise is rather loud 4. Room with window were more expensive, but the window open to compressor which is loud. What’s the point of having windows here? Especially when you charge. 5. Room dusty. Should be cleaned better. 6. Plus points: 1. Toilet amenities is complete

The staffs don’t speak Malay. No clothes iron in room, have to take at the counter and return it back, the iron is portable iron very low quality. For breakfast we have to order which is fine but the wait for the food to arrive is too long. Swimming pool only open at 10am and closed at night. A bit noisy as lorries from the shop opposite the hotel always there with engine on.

Lovely old nostalgic hotel with antique fitting and style. Very clean and centrally located in Georgetown. We stayed in the heritage room (room 102). Certainly value for money (RM 327 for 4 pax)

The place has character as it is a unique old building. Room was fine, but the bathroom etc wasn’t exactly clean. Breakfast was ok. Location was ok, a neat wet market only a couple of blocks away. Not particularly cheap for what you get, but maybe that’s Penang. The service from the staff was fantastic. Hopefully now post covid as hotels get more customers the standard picks up.

Located on a very quiet street near the western edge of the historic district, this hotel has a lot of classy touches. The bed was very comfortable and having a ceiling fan allows the use of less AC. The free bikes are a nice idea but they aren’t particularly rode worthy.

The hotel had an interesting colonial era feel. Whilst there are posher hotels, this hotel has great staff who are always pleased to help. They assisted me by taking my postcards and mailing them for me, for some reason I struggled finding a postbox/ office. Keep doing what you are doing.

What can I say? This place is lovely!! The decorations are Instagrammable! Service is tiptop, breakfast was delicious, in the room the mattress for family room was thick, aircond worked wonderfully, lighting was good, the bathroom (you can do photo shoots in there.. Tub especially!) the concept was classic and modern. Kids loved it too. Parking space available for hotel guests. During our visit they were about to open wine & steak restaurant, I think. So, do give them a visit ya. We had a great stay. Definitely will come back!

I like the old vibe, historic picture, calm n cosy feeling during staying. My nephew enjoy the mini pool. Easy to find the local food because its within walking distance. Recommended for family as it has choices of big room. I like the duplex room so much. Its give the idea of small space can turn into magnificent view. The reception is openly friendly. Parking is not a problem. There's a lot of parking space around the hotel. Also got another open parking space nearby. I did read the old review about no qiblat direction, well, they're have it now. Also another comment about no place to hanging the clothes, well, there's already add that one too. I got nothing bad to review, it really left a sweet memories in my heart. Trust me, you will love it. Will come again.

If you like an antique hotel design this is the place.. But there are a few things that will distract you stayed.. My room the tv no function when asked for the technician the FO said no tech on night shift. For kids the pool not suitable to swim because of the water level only at your ankle. The price quit just ok for family room but quit cozy

Excellent Accommodation!!! I Really Really Really enjoyed my stay here. 😁 Friendly and helpful staffs 🏑 Amazing decor and design. I am super amazed with the interior design, the elements that they have, they focus till the smallest details. The room design send you back to the old vibes. πŸ› Their common hall have 2 amazing cafe and bar. You may sip your coffee or beer by the pool side. 🌐 Location is right smack in the middle of the city George Town. 1mins walk to the best roti canai Ayam ever. And few mins walk to the side of town. πŸ‘©β€πŸ’Ό Service was amazing the only thing they need to change is their clothes Iron. I will come back again, definitely!

i chose this hotel because i want to experience staying in an old building. i was intrigued by the spacious rooms. we took the Longma Suite. It is bigger than a studio apartments in KL. nicely decorated too with a stationary bike and a dumbbells rack. suitable for fitness buff. the bathroom is to die for. huge jacuzi tub, spaciour shower and clean toilet. there is a famous dessert bar right next door. the famous Transfer Road roti canai is a short walk a way. they have limited free parking too. the ceiling of Longma suite room 101 needs a bit of TLC. we found sands on our beds from a crumbling concrete. they dont accept cards at the moment. something about faulty machine wateva. its either cash or bank transfer which is a bit of an inconvenience. on top of paying your room in full, they also want RM100 deposit.

Wouldn’t recommend it at all. Overpriced, dirty, tv not working. Lift not working. No food but yes you have nice menu in the room. Stuff with very uncomfortable personal questions. Not happy at all.

Quaint, comfortable and cosy. Rooms were spacious. Staff pleasant. But rooms need to be cleaned at once, linen and towels to be changed. Breakfast was poor. Most of the dishes had finished even before 10 am. Otherwise it was an ideal location close to many places.

  • 3/5 The R. 1 year ago on Google
Small, overpriced room though quite comfortable. Breakfast extremely basic. The hotel itself is amazing, housed in an older, colonial mansion. It's a pity that is all that was good about this place as even the TV in the room had no viewable channels. I was told they had one channel only, but even this didn't work. I wonder whether this is a Penang wide thing as another hotel I stayed at nearby also didn't have TV reception.

Overall, we had a very negative experience at Museum Hotel. Firstly, issues we raised about broken items/locks in the room were addressed poorly by the staff. This made for an uncomfortable experience. Additionally, the cafe/breakfast was below average. Despite the lovely photos, the hotel is overall quite underwhelming and not worth staying in as a "heritage" experience. The pool is so small we didn't bother swimming in it! Whilst it is in a great location and room was decent, I don't think it is worth staying here and wouldn't recommend.

Negative experience with basic facilities and the issues we raised were poorly managed or addressed. Pool is Size of a bath tub. Excellent location, cafe is below average but staff is lovely. Telle has only one local channel and the wifi keeps dropping. Overall i wont recommend as the esthetics are just everything!!!!
