Myself and two friends stayed here for three nights recently and have to say what a lovely place it is. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast was fantastic but the highlight for all of us were the two Philipino ladies who run the place for the owner. (unfortunately I can't remember their names, apologies) They are absolutely fantastic, so helpful, so friendly and just always happy to see you. I can't imagine this place would run so well without them. Beautiful surroundings and plenty of eateries nearby. Recommended.

Every aspect of my time here was perfect and the staff go the extra mile to make my trip as enjoyable as possible. An absolute pleasure to have stayed here.

Was fascinated by the name of the place, then realised it was converted shop houses, so I was won before I even arrived. I was not disappointed, but note this place isn't for everyone, especially those with mobility issues, as rooms are accessed by a steep set of stairs. The rooms are huge and beautifully set out with our suits consisting of a big bedroom, smaller single bedroom, sitting area overlooking the terraces opposite and a very big, semi outside bathroom. There's plenty of drinking water available from a dispenser to lessen the amount of plastic used. Breakfasts in Cafe 55 are enormous and very well prepared. Staff are wonderful. I can't recommend this highly enough.

Very well located in the centre of Georgetown (but not on one of the busy street) easily walkable to all heritage sites. The rooms are fantastic, based in an historic building but with all modern amenities Ruby who runs the place is lovely and extremely helpful Would recommend highly for a trip to Penang

Ruby who runs the place is such a lovely woman. She stayed longer to welcome us in the afternoon, and came to work on her day off as the sister was feeling sick. We felt very welcome and taken care of. The place is beautiful and everything is functioning.

We really enjoyed our stay at Coffee Atelier. The hotel is located in a central, yet quiet neighbourhood in the UNESCO area. The rooms were created from the renovation of old Peranakan shop houses - they are all tastefully decorated and have all that you need (and more!). Ruby and her sister went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable (they even helped me find a local clinic to treat a painful eye infection). Cannot recommend enough!

One of the highlights of my trip to Penang. Well-decorated antique rooms with modern amenities. Strong air con. Close to major attractions like Nyonya Museum and Armenian Street. Wide range of food available at Chulia Street which is a stone’s throw away. Ruby has been very friendly and helpful - she gave us a great overview of what we can do in Penang and she was willing to accommodate our requests. Highly recommended.

Awesome little hotel with very personal service. Ruby and her sister give it the attention it deserves and take care of all your needs. The rooms are funky and if you get a ground level room then you get a bonus back courtyard with garden and outdoor facilities. Visit the art gallery which is in the checkin. Breakfasts were nicely done to order in the neighboring restaurant. Kristoff makes sure the quality is A+. Tip for cheap beer go to the wholesaler around the corner (exit hotel to right and walk 50m) afternoons into evening.

The suites at the Coffee Atelier are great place to stay in historic Georgetown. They have multiple rooms and a small backyard. The interior is cute and convenient. I liked the 'study room' where you can hide during your trip and work a bit on Email etc. The Coffee Atelier is perfectly located, so you can start exploring the town and enjoy the street food stands in the evening, which are just around the corner.

Staying in a shop house set up beautifully maintained property in the heart of George Town. The breakfast is the best part and the staff Ruby and Judy are very accommodating....they waited for us till late evening for us to pick our bags from the hotel after our entire day outing.

Coffee atelier is actually a funky boutique hotel with old school Penang shop houses being converted into swanky and very comfortable hotel rooms. Highly recommended. Only thing is I don’t recommend staying at the upper suites as the stairs to go up are narrow and steep.

Conveniently located at the heritage area of George Town, many places are easily accessible from here. One of the days during our stay, the owner (the ang moh guy) happen to be at the cafe and he came over to say hello. All the staffs are really friendly and helpful too. Very spacious suite for the affordable price, but might get noisy at night as there is a party hostel right opposite. And rooms are not very sound proof, so opening of doors and stuff gets noisy at times. Overall, still happy with the stay.

Great place to stay. Nice laid back atmosphere and close to everything...but with feeling of being just far enough away from the hustle and bustle. Rooms when I stayed were on the more expensive side compared with similar rooms available, however on a whole - I enjoyed the experience of staying in a place with a charismatic ambiance. I recommend it.

This place was one of the cleanest places we have ever stayed. We were in room 47, upstairs. The stairs are steep and the doorway is narrow, but that’s the worst of it. Keep in mind this building is an historical site and has had it’s original character maintained. The king size bed here was great, the pillows were excellent and the air conditioning, as well as ceiling fan were more than enough to keep Canadians cool, even under the most comfortable cozy duvet. We enjoyed the best sleeps here. The breakfast at Coffee Atelier is really great and included with the room. Of course fresh squeezed orange juice, barista coffee, fruit, cereal or eggs, toast, yogurt. The choices are good. The lady’s that run this hotel are the best you’ll ever find. The location in George Town is perfect. Lots of great street food, Indian food and great variety within 5 minutes. Love lane has several restaurants a few blocks away. Almost all of the cool old town tourist sights including most of the famous street art are within walking distance. We even walked to Komtar from here, but that was more like work. They have a water cooler to refill bottles, a nice way to cut down on plastic. We would definitely stay here again!

Great quaint Hotel and Café. Excellent location in the heart of the heritage town. Rooms quiet and surprisingly big. Comfortable beds. Booked multiple rooms for an event. Both the suites which have a single and a double and the ground floor double rooms are very nice. Breakfast simple but good. Service by the three housekeepers was exceptional. Arrangements for the taxis for guests coming at different times was perfect. Strongly recommended for a stay in heritage George Town
