Actually a shame, staying at this place now and even though the rooms are very nice and location is great we feel as though we've been cheated. The biggest draw for staying here was the rooftop bar with pool from the pictures, however we have now realised that the rooftop is currently a construction site and it's extremely loud in the rooms from drilling and whatever else. If we'd known this we'd definitely not have booked here as it means during the day when we had planned to sit on the roof and work, we now have to leave the hotel to find some piece and quiet. Guests should be informed of this construction in the hotel before paying, I would definitely come back here when the construction is finished but for now this place should be given a wide berth as it's very very far from a relaxing stay

Overall, worth to try. Located at the heart of George Town area, easy to walk nearby, close to hawker, food stalls, cafe. Parking area is quite big, while some of other hotels don't have. Dikasih early check in and got my room upgraded. Book di harga 400 ribuan during a bit high season here (after Chinese New Year) for me still make sense. Kamar mandi oke. Free refill mineral water. Kamar bersih. Expected, one decent hotel at Chulia street.

Parking is a horror story there!!!!! Don’t book it u come by car. I have round many rounds around the area just to find a parking but unfortunately fail. This place location is good. Alot of eateries and bars around but….. no parking!!!! Imagine when u need to go back ur hotel u need to wait for all the pubs to close only u might be able to get parking!!!!!! Will not dare to book this hotel again ad it is really a hassle.

Do not stay at Room 301. Look at the shower head, too. I needed to fix it with a plastic paper to make the head up. There are something like toilet paper inside the shampoo and shower gel, so I never used it. How can they offer a room in this condition to customers? Will never come back to this place.

Stayed in the hotel 8 nights. Location is great with plenty of food/drinks option within walking distance. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are decent value. Star down as the walls between the rooms could be better insulated for noise. Had problem with noise from room next door last night - which isn't hotels fault.

We needed a place to sleep enroute up north. Arrived at close to 3am. Despite having a Promo Price of RM128 advertised outside we were told that they hadn't changed the sign yet. Our rooms cos RM195 each. My room water heater didn't work. Water pressure at the sink was low. The sheets were torn, shower curtain was filthy too. The lady at the counter wasn't the most helpful at that hour... I wouldn't stay here again would advise against it if you're thinking of it.

Location-wise, good. However, there are a few points worth mentioning. First of all, they dragged the check-in time and had guests waiting at the lobby until 4PM/5PM. 1-2 hours later than it was supposed to. They charged a small tax without telling guests upfront or mentioning that in the booking website. The amount was small, yes. But this wasn't agreed upfront. The receptionist was also not very friendly or helpful.

Very good location in Central Georgetown. Lots of hawker food at night just around the corner. Can walk to Penang Road, Chowrasta market and Komtar. Highly recommended

Nice and clean Hotel. They are not cleaning the rooms or bringing new towels. But they have Coway water filter on each floor. Location is great, lot of good restaurants near by. They have a nice rooftop bar but very expensive drinks.

This Hotel is awesome! You have big toilet, big bed and fast wifi. Also, they have buffet breakfast for free and welcome drinks with ice cream. Everything is walking distance in street food and all the tourist attraction. It's cheap and very very nice πŸ™‚πŸ‘Œ We don't have any problem except the check in, we arrived early and we have to wait for their check in time. But we understand as they need time to clean the room. Good thing they have storage for our luggage. πŸ™‚

I recently stayed at the Chulia Mansion hotel and it was an amazing experience! From the moment I checked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and had all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. Overall, I really recommend the CM hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in the Penang. The staff, facilities and location exceeded my expectations and I would definitely stay here again in the future.

We stayed 4d3n from 3-6 Aug. Chose this place because of location and that reviews show that Hotel is quite big. Hotel is actually a blk with 4 levels. Breakfast spread is normal. Actually it is better to skip and eat outside. Hotel’s Wifi is painfully slow, lvl 2 and reception, all slow. Forget about loading any video or do video call. The electrical plugs beside the bed also has sparks. One of the ceiling light fused too. Only has a small win. Aircon and shower all ok. Reception with the exception of the chinese girl was not very good. Non Asians asked for bottled water and was given. We asked at counter, waited and was not given. Reception (5th Aug noon to night shift, 2 guys) said will send upstairs and still water was not sent. After 2nd reminder not sent Too. Well it’s just poor service. We did not go for any of their daily drinks or ice-cream and just wanted bottled water, but were ignored. During check-in, was told that room not ready, prior to check-Out we requested for late checkout so that we can have lunch then come back. But they were strict to enforce a 12noon checkout. Pro: location Cons: As read above.

Betrug ?

I'm very disappointed. It's impossible to sleep. The rooms are next to each other and the walls are thin. Changed two rooms in two days. In one room, the aircon malfunctioned, and the other one didn't have a functioning water heater for the shower. The corridors are extremely dirty (2nd and 4th floor). The whole place needs renovation. Even though the reception is kind and the location of the hotel is strategic, we will not come here again. The standard room is so small. The towels are not white, have been used for a long time, and they have a gray color. It's too pricey for that kind of low qualify

The rooms are clean and well presented with lots of security cameras in the corridors. There is a Roof Top Bar run by a dude from Yemen and a Christian Pakistani guy! The location is the best feature, just yards away from bars and restaurants galore! If you book in advance, rooms are about Β£25 which is a fair price. βœοΈπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Stayed for 2 nights based on the location and it didn’t disappoint. Everything is within easy walking distance. Hotel was nice and friendly, our room was good. Internet was pretty good too. Roof terrace is nice with 1 free drink per night. Good breakfast.

Location is great but the staff service is very very bad. Management is even worse. The car park is limit. There’s a sky bar upstairs, if you mind the noise please do not choose the highest floor.

A bad experience. The hotel is visibly neglected. The bed sheets were broken and there wasn't night tent at the windows. The floor was dirty. We asked the reception to fix the problems. The next day, upon returning to the hotel, we noticed that someone moved personal objects in our room and some food was gone. Actually not a big problem, but it has been really annoying. We warned the reception about this episode.

Affordable rates gotten for 6 rooms (3 superior + 3 family room) during peak season (Dec). The staffs were helpful. Rooms were ok, simple. Able to ask for extra pillows. Only 1 lift for 4 level building. Shared carpark with residents staying at the back of the hotel. Renovations ongoing at rooftop. Stained towels so we used our own. Our mini fridge wasnt working so cannot keep our drinks cold. No complimentary tidbits or drinks in ur room. No inhouse breakfast.

Lovely hotel in a strategic location. It is close to the action as it is located in Georgetown area. The room are spacious and the service is prompt. Remember to enjoy the free wine on their rooftop bar. It's a nice place to chill after your long and tiring trip around Penang Island. Parking spots are ample.

Location is great, walkable to many tourist spots, and with a few parking lots in the building. The room itself is okay, BUT the maintenance is bad. There mold stains in the toilet, stains on the towels, and the bed and pillow sheets smell bad. The first night they cleaned my room, but the pillow still smells, and I had to ask them THREE times for a new pillowcase. The second night they did not even bother to clean my room. Overall, my experience with this hotel is bad. I will not come back again

Nice quait little hotel with historic value. Located right smack in the middle of Georgetown bar area. Room is clean and well kept. Parking is a little tight but free. Definitely worth the value you pay. 8.5/10 will return.

Decent hotel and amazing location. However the parking is very limited and first come first serve. Not sure whether they still offer free ice cream and drink on top floor. Breakfast is optional.

Can not think of one negative thing about this hotel. The location is absolutely excellent, just a two minute walk to one of the main streets. Staff were exceptional. Rooms are clean to a high standard. Free coffee/tea throughout the day. Free welcome drink and icecream at the rooftop bar. As it is a 3 star hotel, expect that. But this is one of the best 3 star hotels I've visited.

Centrally located hotel in historic George Town. A really affordable stay with some perks and some caveats. What's Great: - Sustainable Focus: the hotel provides 2 water bottles that you can refill at their free filtered water coolers - Complimentary Breakfast: amazing, free breakfast spread ranging from local eats, Western style food, sweets, and fruits. Several items are rotational so eating there doesn't get old - Complimentary Ice Cream (2PM-6PM) and Daily Free Drinks (redeemable 6PM-midnight) What Could be Better: - Room is on the smaller side, though that's understandable since we are in the historic district - Bathrooms could be cleaner - Presence of some bugs in the bathroom Additional Notes: - The hotel is right next to a mosque, so periodic prayers can be heard from the rooftop and elsewhere. If you're noise sensitive, ask the front desk if you can be placed in a room that's better insulated from noise.

Check in was really fast and easy. Do prepare RM100 for deposit for the key cards. Room was small but comfortable. Bed was comfortable. There is tv and a small fridge as well as hair dryer in the room. There is a welcome letter to inform of the freebie. One glass wine per person per night from 6pm till midnight and a scoop of ice creams from 2 till mid night. Breakfast was simple but enough to fill up for the day. Lots of eateries and shops around. So that was easy.

  • 1/5 Warathep S. 7 months ago on Google
Location is great, but the others are really bad. Avoid staying at 4th floor room otherwise you will hear the music sound from sky bar every night and cant sleep. Also hair dryers are not enough for every room, need to let staff know in advance if you want to use

Stay away. So bad hotel, large room but nothing in the room, only a double bed. And expensive for the quality. I will never come back.

Great place in an even better location. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a stylish bathroom offering great water pressure. Many TV channels, comfortable bed. Excellent daily breakfast with quite a few choices. I look forward to staying here again, the best value in Georgetown.

I had a very good short vacay in penang while staying in this hotel. Unfortunately when i came there is a problem with doorkey. Cant be accessed by card but rather a key to get in. However the proce is quite cheap for a quite big spacious room and they has parking which is the most important part when u plan to walk around thw Georgetown town. For muslim i suggest u guys to go to cafe infront this hotel name Le Brunch cafe which is certified halal cafe.

Strategic location with reasonable price. However the room that we stay, the aircond is very noisy at night. Unable to sleep well. The soap also didnt refill even after we told the receptionist. The breakfast food was so-so.

Location is very good. This road is near to pub street and also alot of local hawker stalls and all food here sooo good. Hotel has own parking area and it has a rooftop bar on top of this hotel. If you walk around it does connect you to many more local food at night too at kimberley street. Room is clean and has all necessities.

Overall Nice hotel. We choose deluxe twin bed room, cant believe they provide single bed type. (Of all places i go when you chose twin bed, they use queen bed). The towels a bit smelly even before we use. Amenities all good. Walking distance to armenian street (penang art street)

Room absolutely stank of cigarettes smoke, shower is cold unless you reduce the pressure to a dribble, room was not very clean, sheet and pillow case were ripped. Location is in a hip area with lots of bars, restaurants and street food. Not the worst option but must be better value around.

  • 4/5 HALIMATUN SAADIAH BINTI ALI B. 1 year ago on Google

My trip to Penang was delightful, and the staff at Chulia Mansion made it even more memorable. Unfortunately, I left my glasses in the room and only realized it after returning to KL. Upon calling the front desk to inquire about my glasses, I received a positive response, and they promptly arranged for their retrieval and delivery to me. Remarkably, they didn't charge any additional fees apart from the courier cost. Their kindness and assistance were truly appreciated. However, my positive opinion of the hotel doesn't solely stem from their efforts to return my glasses. The strategic location, complimentary parking, cleanliness, room comfort, affordable rates, and various other factors contribute to making the hotel worth recommending.
