It was posted as a 4 star hotel, but I don't think it deserves more than 2 stars. The pool is very small and visible from the street. The room was not cleaned while I was there for 4 nights and no clean towels given. There was usually nobody at the reception. The location is great though. Very close to all the highlights of Penang.

So call self-claimed 4 stars hotel. - A large area of wall fungus visible in the room - toilet door cannot be lock - towel is not prepared when we check-in - toilet is smelly with urine - hotel is suitable for backpackers due to limited parking during daytime

Great hotel in a very convenient location. Very close to China town, little India and a nice stroll to the Jettys. Rooms were clean and comfortable with great bathrooms and the breakfast was delicious too. Would recommend for anyone staying in Penang for a few days.

Amazing location but the hotel is not what it should have been 10 years ago! It's deteriorating and nothing seems to be done to improve the situation. It's not clean, everything is ageing badly. Avoid if you can!

Waited outside for 20 minutes because there was no receptionist. Kept ringing the bell and finally they came out with sleepy faces to check us in. Went to our room and there were no towels, so we went down to look for the receptionists and they were missing again. I guess sleep must be really important to them at 3 in the afternoon. Worst service and probably the only hotel on earth where the is no receptionist available.

Nobody is there to help you. In 7 days they only came to the room twice, just to arrange the bed and collect the garbage but no cleaning. The swimming pool looks like a bath tub, very small. Only the location is good but you can do better for the same price.

Not sure if this place has come under new management recently, as the reviews I had read were all positive, which was not necessarily our experience. However, this is a great location for starters, if you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Georgetown that is close to attractions, food and Cafe culture, this place is great. Unfortunately, our experience at least, had some drawbacks. Service is non existent. We arrived and the doors were all locked, with nobody inside. There was a sign on the door asking to telephone/whatsapp in case of emergency. We had to ring the bell for 5 minutes and our taxi driver tried calling before anyone turned up to answer the door. Check in was simple but with no welcome pleasantries or information. After we were taken to our room, we wondered how we could get back into the hotel again as we only had a key to our door. I went downstairs to ask, and the place was abandoned, called out, knocked on all the doors and couldn't find anyone. In the end I had to log onto the wifi and whatsapp the number of the door to get a response - I was told just to ring the bell again - later on the same day after going in and out of the hotel I was given a fob for the front door as I was clearly a nuisance. We also discovered that we did not have towels, when I messaged about this, they told me they were having all the towels washed and they would not be back and ready until the evening - not the best system and hopes of cleanliness were dashed. The room itself was fine, simple but okay for a short stay. It was clean on the surface, however, just slightly below the surface it was particularly grim. Many uncleaned stains and spills. When I knocked something on the floor I had the misfortune of seeing under the bedside cabinet - this was deeply unpleasant and had not been dusted or moved for quite some time - under the bed is not worth mentioning - don't venture to look is my advice. Sleeping was unfortunately difficult. The one drawback to the location is that it is nestled between two beautiful and busy mosques, and so the call to prayer from both locations is very loud and lasts throughout the evening, starting up again around 5am. Unfortunately this is too loud to be background noise and made sleeping very challenging. If you are travelling around Penang and Malaysia as a single/couple and you're not fussed re service, mainly looking for somewhere to just throw your head down, then the location and price will probably win out for a stay. However, we stayed with our young children, and so it ended up not being the best choice for our context.

Fantastic location and room design. We told the room with 2 queen beds. The only drawback was the cleanliness. When we first checked in , there were no clean towels in the room, the bathtub was filthy, the bathroom smelled of piss and looked like the cleaner was interrupted. The next day I told the receptionist the problems and asked for it to be fixed. Unfortunately the only thing that was mended was we got clean towels and the bin was cleared. I was annoyed but looking at the fact that I only had one more night, I didn't press on the issue. Could have got five stars if the cleanliness was better.

Super location, rooms are really big. Probably should be a bit cleaner, especially the bathrooms. But I've seen plenty worse.

My family & I managed to get a room as we did not make any room reservations at all. Surprisingly, this boutique hotel has a pool inside! The room is cosy (we got a duplex!) but it needs a bit more housekeeping. Friendly receptionist cum housekeeper. The hotel has a strategic location in the town area. So, u don't have to worry about where u are going to have your breakfast/lunch/dinner or even supper. Nasi kandar stall is not more than 10meters away from the hotel. If nasi kandar is not to your liking, there is also a place serving continental or western dishes just a few metres away from this hotel. Overall the hotel is OK but the WiFi network is terrible!!!

Pro: 1. Good location 2. room is nice Con: 1. Payment via cash: I was not informed that I had to pay cash, because they would not take card for some reason. (The girl at the reception did not tell me the reason why) 2. Service: The people working the reception were either non existent (In room called VIP next to the indoor pool, where I had to knock for assistance) or were completely unhelpful and had no interest in providing assistance 3. HOUSEKEEPING : My room was not made during the day, I popped in 3 times and by 5pm my room was not made, I enquired and was told, "We don't do housekeeping unless you tell us to. We don't want to go, in case you have something valuable" - I have never experienced this, where you HAVE TO TELL THEM for housekeeping, or ASK for clean towels. (I didn't care about room clearing, just clean bath towel). The entire hotel is just 12 ROOMS and they don't do housekeeping!!! Breakfast: Not in the hotel, but next door in the Japanese restaurant with only 3 meal options. Pool: Very shallow, I wouldn't swim in it due to fear of injury. Also I didn't not see any guest using it, during my three day stay. Room: My room was facing an alley way with street art and was noisy with foot traffic. Overall For a 3 star hotel, I cannot believe the very unique experience with housekeeping and staff....

If u consider a spacy room, close to halal and non halal food at day and night, close to culture places then you should choose this hotel. But forget about hotel facility / room service / breakfast / room cleaning and up grade on daily basis / 2 botles of mineral water on daily basis / amenities replacement on daily basis / trash bean clean up on daily basis. They only prepare the clean room + 2 bottles of mineral water + room amenities at the fist day you check in.

We were a family of five adult and stayed there for 3 nights on 27 -31 January 2016. We got a big room with 1 double bed and 3 single beds. The room was nice, clean, comfortable, very good air-condition and a big bathroom with powerful shower. My adult children took advantage of the swimming pool to cool themselves after a hot walk under the hot sun. From here, is a 3 minutes walk to the popular Armenian Street and a food court is just nearby. Once we reached the food court, just across the road is the famous Chew Jetty. Nearby, there were 4 places where one can get a taste of Indian food. We took a taxi and went for dinner at an open air market place next to Gurney Mall/Plaza. This is a not to be missed place which offers a variety of good and tasty food and drink at a very good price. If you stay at this hotel they can help you get a good, very friendly, reliable, resourceful taxi driver. My family are also very grateful for the taxi driver, Mr. T. Subra who accompanied us during most of our time there at a very reasonable price. Thank you very much to all the staffs. You were all very friendly and helpful. Overall, our holiday was all worth it and we actually spent only 80% of our budget.
