Tourist attraction Shopping

👍 This is a wet market in Georgetown also known as chowrasta market. But they have thinks like nutmeg oil and other ointments too. The real hidden gem is in the 1st level of the building. There you will finde some stalls with clothing and Shoues. And the best thing there are some second hand book shop... People often mention shops,

This is a wet market in Georgetown also known as chowrasta market. But they have thinks like nutmeg oil and other ointments too. The real hidden gem is in the 1st level of the building. There you will finde some stalls with clothing and Shoues. And the best thing there are some second hand book shops. There you can find thousands of book in English, Malay, Tamil and Chinese. Every kind of book like a novel, drama, educational books, comics and much more.

This place looks run down (it's more then 100 years old). But it contains a broad range of traditional Malay & Indian attire.

This is a traditional local bazaar which has all type of local stuff like fabics, shirts, woman dress, hijab, kain pelikat, bags, kids wear and more. Here is the place where you can bargain for a good price and good product quality. Penang Bazaar are situated along Penang Road

Not the best day market. Most of the shops sell cloth or clothes, but it seems to be more "traditional" stuff catering to the local community. If you're a tourist you might be better off somewhere else, eg a night market.

Penang Bazar and Chowrasta Market is different building.Chowrasta is the grey building and it is nearer to KOMTAR.Penang Bazar is known for most business there are selling traditional clothes such as baju kurung and baju melayu.Unlike chowrasta, this building hasn't been upgraded yet and it has only a level.

Well, it's a congregation of tourist shops full of items with no prices on them. We got quite a few souvenirs here, some at reasonable prices, some most unreasonable for things we didn't even want :) So yes, We clearly enjoyed visiting. Very pushy sales people of course.

This location has seen significant improvements and upgrades. I visited on a Sunday, and the area was vibrant with activity and a large crowd. Simply apply your negotiation skills when dealing with the sellers to secure the best deals.

Very quiet. Many shops selling traditional clothes but no customer. Need a revamp of the place to help the shops.

Nothing great here. But can consider if interested to buy local clothings and dried goods.
