Indeed one of the best nasi kandar in Penang. Nasi, Ayam Goreng, Kobis, & Kuah Campur terbaik ! Their gravy is so flavourful, perfectly spiced, not the thick kind & not too spicy. We came here on a normal weekday lunchtime when they just open. No queue at all. Fast service. Clean restaurant and cheap delicious food. Paid parking is just opposite the restaurant.
passes by without much queue at odd hours, decided to try out due to good review. good tasting food, nice open space to dine. hands washing point available for those who prefer to touch their food.
A must visit restaurant in Penang and definitely if you are planning on trying Nasi Kandar. The service is quick and the wait staff is super friendly. I got the Set E which comes with mutton. I also asked for the fish plate later. Both were really good and they accept credit cards too.
Enjoy a great meal, Nasi Kandara with friends and family
Suasana tempat makan yang luas Dan selesa...
still cannot beat Restoran Kuddu KL
About Deens Maju Nasi Kandar is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience authentic Penang cuisine. Located on Jalan Gurdwara in George Town, this popular eatery is known for serving some of the best nasi kandar on the island. Situated just a short distance from the bustling Komtar area, Deens Maju is conveniently accessible for both locals and tourists exploring the vibrant streets of Penang. Nasi kandar, a dish rooted in Penang's culinary heritage, is a flavorful rice meal served with a variety of curries and side dishes. Deens Maju has earned a stellar reputation for its perfectly spiced curries, tender meats, and generous portions. The restaurant is particularly famous for its fried chicken, which is crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside, as well as its rich, aromatic curry sauces that complement the rice and sides beautifully.
Came here for lunch based on a friend’s recommendation. There was a line, but the service was quick. They have many dishes to choose from. I got the fried chicken, stir-fried cabbage, and a mix of curry sauces, then went to pay. Since it’s Nasi Kandar, I expected it to be a bit pricey. To my surprise, it only cost RM 12, including my iced tea. The price is very reasonable. The place spans a few shop lots, so there are plenty of seats. I’ll definitely be back for more.
Very good food and service. Be prepared to quickly decide what you want to eat before getting to order. Standard fares are chicken, fish and squid. While the queue seemed long, it does move fast as they serve quickly. Station 1 : order your food Station 2 : order drinks and get the bill for your total order Station 3 : cashier to pay for your total order After that walk further into the establishment to find a seat. There's a lot of seats as long you move further inside.
Food tastes quite good. Really what you would expect at a Nasi Kandar shop. And plus point, service is good & the line moves fast. Price is quite reasonable actually overall. Things they can improve/ cons: - not so easy to find Parking - Rice & Fried Chicken portion a bit less than expected Overall a good traditional & original place to visit for Nasi Kandar in Penang.
We liked this spot so much we came here twice and was always lucky - with no line every time. It is a no frills, non pretentious eatery. After seeing TikToks of vloggers we finally got to try nasi kandar. Come hungry! We got set A and set B (both chicken plates). Oh my, the chicken was absolutely delicious. Super flavorful. We also requested “kuah campur” - a combination of all gravies. We had the lamb shank and the meat was tender and the broth was super flavorful. We would absolutely come back!
It was a pleasant experience trying this famous nasi kandar, i wouldnt say its the best in Penang, but im rating this place 4 stars because i ate burned fried chicken. The tomato rice wasnt the best ive tried either. Overall it was a nice experience
Our first time trying nasi kandar and we loved this place! Great service (very attentive staff) + price + nice drinks offered. Lots of seating. Food incredibly flavorful. Super fast and efficient as well.
A strategically located eatery in the city center. Tasty dishes with plenty of variety. Limited parking — expect a short walk. Queues can be a bit long but manageable. Elderly and pregnant women can wait inside and find a seat first.
HALAL HALAL HALAL TOP 3 best nasi kandar you can ever find in PENANG, Georgetown. You absolutely must must must come and try here if u want authentic Penang nasi kandar. At peak time u have to que a bit but trust me, if ur reading this, u will not go wrong! So many YouTubers, bloggers, influencer come and review.. to each its own but a shop like this to have 11,000 reviews and still going strong. U are not wrong to bring ur family here. they have expanded a bit and the stalls are kept clean, just hoping they will repaint everything so that’s it’ll look brand new the shops. And the price amazingly kept affordable. Seriously good job management in keeping the true Penang kandar to it’s originality Ample parking across the streets or just before the junction as well. The food is just moist, the curry splendid, rice soft and glutinous, the salty eggs(telur masin) is just amazing and the kicap curry to top it off. Just go and try and thank me later.
I visited Deens Maju in Pulau Pinang several times during my stay, as it was conveniently located near my hotel. Each visit was consistently satisfying. The taste was very good and definitely on par with some of the best local nasi kandar spots. The variety of dishes is impressive, with rich, flavourful curries and delicious gravies that complement the rice perfectly. The fried chicken stood out as my favourite crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Although there is sometimes a long queue (based on your arrival timing), especially during peak hours, the line moves quickly thanks to the efficient and well-organized staff. Service was fast, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visits. Prices were reasonable, especially considering the generous portion sizes and the quality of the food. The atmosphere at Deens Maju is lively and authentic, offering a true Penang street food experience. Overall, I highly recommend Deens Maju for anyone wanting to experience authentic nasi kandar in Penang. It’s a must-visit spot for both locals and tourists. I’ll definitely return on my next trip to Penang!
It’s legit. Best chicken ever. Goat and shrimp were amazing too. I really wanted that lamb shank but would have been too much for the 2 of us at lunch.
Beratur, tapi laju je service, sedap kari lain dari kl harga pun murah, kena cuba kalau dtg penang.
This is the first time I come here based on recommendation. Yes, the taste is great. But, in selangor also have the similar taste as well. The chicken have similar taste to ayam berempah nasi kukus, the rice is normal and I tasted better, telur sitong is nice, the gravy is excellent. The queue was very long, but it only took about 20 minutes during peak hour. Would definitely come here again.
This place is my go-to every time we visit Penang. The food is delicious, affordable, and there's parking available. Although you might have to wait in line, it moves quickly, so it's still tolerable. The seating is also very comfortable. Definitely worth a try!
sampai nak hujung-pukul 10. banyak lauk dah habis. kecewa.. kena dtg awal lagi
biasa2 jer ni...
Came here for lunch at 1pm in December 2024. Peak hour. Queued for 30 minutes. But once you reach the curry jockey then the service picks up. You have to know what you want when you reach the curry jockey otherwise you’re holding all the line. The food is delicious. And the drinks came in super fast. And price is reasonable. So come here for the food. But embrace the queue.
Saw this on Mark Wiens’ recommendation video and it did not disappoint. Was absolutely delicious and would definitely recommend! Staff was also super kind, even offered us more curry sauce! 🤩
Visited based on the recommendation of our Grab driver! Great flavours and generous with sauce, bustling with patrons. Depending on your taste, we would recommend the lamb shank, ayam bawang (chicken with onion) and sotong (cuttlefish). We also tried the prawns and fish roe but thought the earlier mentioned items were the highlights. It’s a popular restaurant, so come prepared to wait approximately 10-15 mins (but the queue moves fast). In terms of atmosphere, it is slightly better than the standard roadside store. There is a decent sheltered dining area with tables spaced apart well, but note there is no air conditioning if that is a consideration for choosing which food spot to visit.
