This is one of the very few traditional Chinese restaurants that has maintained their standards over time. Without fail, one must try their choon piah (spring rolls), buttered cereal prawns, mango chicken and two-style pomfret. Nowadays we no longer eat shark fins but you can still order the seafood broth without the shark-fins.

A very old and established restaurant located at Georgetown. The food in general is okay and you can be assured it is a safe choice if you really don't know where to est but I think now there are many more restaurants out there which serves more tasty food. At least from my experience today, the dish served here is kinda like the typical Chinese restaurant food and although it taste good, for old timer like me it can feel a bit boring with more or less the same 'ol dish. Steam fish in soy sauce, deep fried sesame crispy chicken, fried prawn in salted egg yolk,... you know those kind of typical food. I just wish they could have innovate and change a bit here on their menu. Parking can be quite a hassle as you need to find public parking spots along the road. Restaurant itself is quite big with many tables and the environment is nice and comfortable for you to enjoy your meal (it is air-conditioned). No problems with the service as well, whatever we needed, we just call the waiter or waitress and they attended to our request.

Food here is nice especially Shark fin, but the restaurant always very noisy due to some of the customers speaking and laughing very loudly, very hard to find parking and the price is also quite expensive.

Their food was just OK but the tofu was extremely delicious, you definitely need to try it out. It's crowded and noisy too, not really like the environment.

One of my favourite place to eat in Penang yet the service is really got some comment to advice! (A women look like supervisor with 👩‍🦳 white hair) she sooooo rude and no respect her staff as well….. yet when i order a extra plate of Spring roll she shout it may take super long time to serve (😒) Btw the food is nice! STEAM FISH WITH TEOW CHEW STYLE fish is fresh and tender ! the gravy extremely powerful to eat white rice (confirm chop will eat with 2-3 bowl rice)😅 STIR FRIED LOTUS ROOT WITH CELERY OH MY GOD look so simpky yet their secret is stir with SALTED FISH! the whole vege full of wok hey and mommy taste! FRIED POPIAH No doubt is the must to order! Nostalgia’s food from teo chew. Die die must try ! SEAFOOD SOUP! My favourite 办桌 2nd Dish, super umami glover and u will love this oriental seafood chowder because got crab meat swiming in ur 👄 mouth

Last night, I visited this charming local Chinese restaurant based on the strong recommendation of my friends. We had a delightful experience as every dish we ordered was truly enjoyable. Among them, my absolute favorite was the braised belly pork with dipping bun. The pork was cooked to perfection, incredibly tender, and the dipping sauce complemented the bun wonderfully, resulting in a truly delicious combination. Another highlight was the steamed fish, which stood out due to its freshness and impeccable cooking. Although a simple dish, it was incredibly flavorful. The claypot stewed lamb was definitely another standout, especially when paired with a bowl of warm white rice. As for the steamed chicken with wine, it quickly became one of my personal favorites of the evening. The mix of vegetables with fermented tofu had a nostalgic taste and was incredibly delicious, particularly when enjoyed with a few servings of white rice. Unfortunately, the Peking roast duck was a disappointment, as the skin was overcooked, rendering it hard and lacking crispiness. The meat itself was also dry, so I would suggest skipping this dish. On a positive note, the service was highly attentive, promptly clearing our plates whenever we stopped eating and ensuring our tea cups were refilled as needed. The ambiance was pleasant, and the overall value for the experience was satisfying.

We went with some friends here and had a very good meal. We had several dishes including steamed fish and soup. Everything was very tasty. The service was good also. We sat outside in front because the inside was crowded, but that turned out to be great. We will likely go back here.

Had a family dinner here. Overall the food is good with the recommendation from the staff. The peking duck was good but would prefer the usual flour pancake to go with the duck instead of the eggs skin wrap. Loved the soya ginko and the dessert pancake. As for the rest of the seafood soup abs dishes, overall was good. Definitely coming back for another round. But do reservation before coming.

We, 4, had grouper fillet fried with scallions, crispy pork, taufu and vegetables. The grouper fish portion was good and everything tasted good. But at RM155 we will not be in a hurry to return. Very pricey.

We were recommended to try this restaurant by a Penang native we got to know recently on our trip, and we were most happy with our dinner experience here! The four of us adults with two preschool kids in tow finished 7 dishes and cleaned off the plates! Reasonable pricing and it was crowded with families at dinner time on a weekday night. Interior decor wise is plain and simple, traditional round tables with chairs around, nothing fancy. Staff are warm and friendly, service is always attentive, with no prompting needed to top up Chinese tea. Pleasant experience!

a very good Oriental restaurant and has been visiting this place since the past 15 years. dishes are never a disappointment and always live up to expectations, booking need to be done especially on weekends. shark fin soup is one of the best I have tasted in Penang, a must try. Peking duck, oyster noodles, prawn and spring rolls are also really delicious. Squid is a little pricey but worth it as the texture is soft and scrumptious

This restaurant is famous for its food. Certain dishes must be pre ordered so check with them first. Ask for their speciality dishes to get the best. Taste wise it's really not great. If you want to try better make reservations on weekends though. It's going to be packed. Parking wise it's a little hassle but there's parking available if you know where to find it at a cost. Price wise a little high 😁 For seven of us with 5 dishes and 1 dessert, total is almost RM500 😱 I don't feel it's worth it though.

Chinese food, nice staff, good service. Good for group lunch or dinner as many dishes can be tasted. Food is well prepared and served, not too salty, but honey sliced pork is too sweet. What we ordered mostly acceptable with reasonable price. Need to repair toilette door which difficult to be opened and closed. Air conditioned room.

A wonderful place for Chinese food. The staff were efficient and attentive. Food came fast and was fresh. Claypot bean curd was a generous portion with homemade tofu. The dish of mixed vegetables wrre crisp and hot from the wok when it arrived. The hor fun had good wok hei and the spring roll was generously filled. All in all, a good family meal for 4.

If you alone, i do not recommand this restaurant. I visited here around 12:50 pm for lunch. That time, there were a lot of empty tables. But staffs offered small and uncomfortable seats. After order, i asked to move other seat. Then they allowed. If this restaurant was full and crowded, i ate the table they gave me. But here was not fulled and crowded. I ordered 3 dishes. They served dishes with rice, steamed peanut, tea, little bread. I did not ordered above 3 menu. But they gave without explaining chrgement. So I had to pay for those. Additionally, one staff told to me they closes on 14:00. So I hurried to eat. But after my order, there were new customers ordered foods. Expensive and not worthy with discrimination.

9 of us went for lunch at this old establishment. Ordered the Peking Duck, Fish Curry, Fried Asparagus, Sweet & Sour pork, Minced Bean curd Fish cake, and Peanut Butter soup & pancake. The duck was good with very thin grispy skin. Very little fish was in the curry which was a bit dilute. The fried asparagus and sweet sour pork normal, nothing great. The minced bean curd fish cake was a bit hard, not springy! The peanut butter soup was OK, not so sweet but would be better if slightly thicker. Overall, it's 6/10 with the prices on the high side. Street parking is a big challenge.

We were looking for a place for dinner after a day of walking around the Campbell street area, primarily aiming for nonya food, but then saw this place that was packed and had a good rating. Seems to be all locals so we figured to give it a try. First thing they asked was whether we had a reservation (no!) but they would seat us if we promised to eat and go within an hour. Sounded about right so sure. The place was packed with more coming in all the time so our expectations were high :-) The menu was extensive but my wife and I were looking for something a little less meat and more soupy after a day of walking around. Only two of us so limited in what we could order. We ended up with two soups: pig stomach soup (local specialty) that my wife likes and I can't eat (can't digest) and a seaweed fishball soup (fishballs being another local specialty). Then spinach with eggs three ways, and a pair of rolls - a prawn roll and a spring roll. We thought the soup were single portions (the menu seemed to indicate it that way) but each bowl was huge! My wife loved the pig stomach soup; drank as much as she could (and ate the meat) and we still had half a bowl left which we did a takeaway. My seaweed and fishball soup did better as both of us were drinking it and it was also very good. No regrets on filling up on soup! The spinach dish had come first actually and we thought it was very well done and were happily getting our fill of vegetables. That is until the soup came out and we abandoned the vegetables for a while. The two rolls came later - just deep fried and smelling good. The prawn roll comes with a sweet chilli sauce and the spring roll with a unique local version of worchestershire sauce. Each complements the rolls perfectly and cuts the oil. While the skin of the spring roll isn't what I was used to, we finished both rolls pretty quickly. Overall, four dishes was really too much for two persons and we didn't really get to sample the meat dishes. We saw a lot of interesting dishes at the neighbouring tables, but sadly was unable to get reservations over the weekend. Overall, an unexpectedly good find and one where we'll definitely return the next time we're in Penang.

Strongly suggest you make a reservation a day before you go. An old school chinese restaurant with amazing food. Food we ordered were super tasty and satisfying. Specially the steam fish, it was so fresh and tender. Strongly recommend.

A very old school local famous restaurant, strongly recommended for get together meal, especially if you are in big group so you could try many different dishes. We went in pretty late & appreciate their ability to accommodate our lateness (due to challenge for fighting carpark lol). Overall good quality was decent, personally I love their 1st 5 dishes combo the best. I am not a big fan of Peking duck but others love it. This home made bean curd was good, soft & tasty.

Overall food standard was very good, portion big enough and the price was very reasonable. Crispy chicken and the brinjal with sambal was good. But the fried rice was exceptionally good. The whole place is Air-conditioned.

This is one of the most popular Chinese restaurant in Penang. When we arrived at 7.45 pm, the place was packed but we got a table after a short wait. The menu is extensive and we ordered some of their popular dishes. The giant steamed grouper in Hong Kong style sauce was delicious. The children enjoyed the cereal prawns and the chicken with fish paste tremendously. The bean curd with minced meat was also very good and one of the best that I have eaten. The spinach with trio eggs was also very tasty. Service crew were patient when we made changes to our order as well as when we added another dish. Overall, the experience was positive and will definitely return to eat when we are back in Penang.

The other Penang culinary institution for superb Cantonese cuisine at bargain prices, evidenced by full house notices most days. Noisy and cramped, with minimum service, a meal is a labor of love. Any fresh fish steamed is unforgettable.

When we tried to call, nobody picked up the phone. So, we decided to drop in and luckily got one last table. Although very busy the staff are courteous and friendly. The style of cooking is quite traditional but packed with good taste. Fresh ingredients and a good selection of dishes make this visit worth the while...$$. At 7pm, many dishes are already sold out.

All time favourite! Love their sour plum chicken, spring roll and pork belly crispy strips. Whenever we have friends from oversea will take them to this restaurant. Almost every day full house. Is advisable to reserve your table.

Came here with a group of six and we got a table without any booking. Unfortunately, I sensed that the atmosphere wasn't too friendly. Two of the staff pointed us to a nicer looking table but a senior lady brought us to a different table which was unprepared. Food wise, they were ok. There are nicer foods in similar restaurants.

Pleasantly surprise! Food are really delicious, portion are big and plenty of ingredient. Not cheap but definitely worth it. Happy with the attentive service. Look forward to next visit. Do not worry about car park, just park at the public car park opposite Cititel hotel, which is merely few min walking distance away.
