First of all, sis nak bgtau rules makan kat sini • I was a bit annoyed, since mu last time here i think was 2014 kot • They dah bukak makan space across the kedai • So now let me tell u on “how to get ur food”. They is no sistem order, but i will just tell u the STEPS if u r sitting at the makan space across the main shop. STEPS:- 1) cari tempat kosong n duduk 2) mata always hala to the entrance 3) when u see the shop guy coming with dulang, cepat2 lari to the from table to get the food 3) they will come by batch for each type like roti canai ayam, roti canai daging 4) so do the drinks, they will bring a full tray of drinks and u choose what u want • But not lease take note on the price as the worker just main bedal je the price. So better u count it first n argue with him the different 👌🏼

It just okay for me.. it was too crowded. So cant expect much for social distancing. Plus table cleanliness also cant expect much bcoz customers filled up vacant table just in split second 😅 But yes. Food was more than enough, gave you full stomach at reasonable price.

Tbh it’s actually one of the worst roti’s i’ve ever had. Roti orders are made by 1 set each which includes 1 kari ayam, daging or kambing banjir on 1 roti telur (unless you request for roti kosong). We also ordered roti kosong biasa, one banjir with kari biasa and one with kari asing. The roti telur underneath it all was very starchy, extremely soggy (like it was banjir for a long time), and mine even had bits of egg shells in it. Definitely had so much better in kl in my regular mamak. The chicken was not as soft, looked a bit old, and the kambing was quite hard, like it was over cooked. And as a person who loves all kinds of kari, the kari is quite watery with just a bit of spice. The roti bakar telur goyang was equally horrible, blend and tastes weird. The telur goyang bit was supposed to be half boiled eggs, but the yolk was fully cooked. And they don’t naturally provide pepper & soy sauce along with it like how normal Chinese kopitiams would. And if you’re a person who is concerned about cleanliness, mamaks would definitely be cleaner than this place hands down. For 1 roti kambing, 1 roti ayam, 2 roti kosong it was RM17 (Dec 2021).

Supposedly famous but you can get better canai almost anywhere else. I was there in the morning peak period. Even then, the canai was soft and soggy. Mutton curry is passable. Chicken curry was below average.

Literally eating by the busy roadside. As per photo, the Roti Canai came soaked in reddish spicy gravy. Do give exact amount as the staff didn’t bothered to return the change. The decent item was actually the Teh-O.

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to have a gun pointed at your head? Interrogated and forced to spit out an answer when you have no idea what is going on? Then this is the right place for you. For those who would like to come here, please be aware that the moment you are directed to your seat within the premises, you will be asked whether you want chicken or daging and they will tell you those are the only two choices you can make. This is not like your typical mamak with friendly service and a lot of customization available. For people who have never been there, this can be very confusing. The worker was not friendly at all and shouted at us when we tried to retract our order after finding out that ordering a roti canai also meant that it came with a whole chicken leg by default, which we did not really want to eat. In the end, some of our friends who came later did order it. The roti canai with the chicken cost RM8.50 (April 2022). The curry is decent but quite dilute and tastes a little like watery sambal. They also have some average roti bakar with telur goyang for RM6.00. Overall, the food was okay but the bad service just made the entire experience unpalatable. The only bright side about the service would be its speed but we would like to be treated as customers and not criminals. Would not recommend coming here if you have a choice as there are nicer places to go to around the area.

The worst roti canai in Penang, the curry of the roti canai is taste chili powder only bery spicy and so watery, the roti canai was so soggy not doing well, the staff attitude was so terrible , after paying the bill, I wait from eating until finished asking from him , he show anger face that do not have small change and chit chat every where until a customer give small change , I try to remind him, he show pretend not so happy face. Bad food and bad service, terrible experience.

Very popular place as it was really busy when I visited in the morning. Good service. Roti was drenched in the spicy curry which I personally didn't like because it became soggy and overpowering, but the chicken was okay. I really liked the roti and eggs but the bread was a bit too buttery for me. Overall okay, depending on your preference.

Taste: Roti telur taste very normal and the curry taste is below average, as you could taste the "curry powder" only. Menu : 1 set ( mutton, Chicken, beef) curry will be serve together with roti telur ( you can ask for roti kosong if you want) and also they sell roti bakar telur goyang. You can order drinks too. I ordered 1 set chicken which cost RM 8. Others: As you dine in, no social distance was followed and all staff practiced zero SOP as they wear have their face mask below their chin. Most importantly no comment on the hygiene ( 0/5 for hygiene) Conclusion: Not worth for the hype.

I won't be giving this place another shot, that's for sure. The service is kind of in-your-face, as they keep trying to sell you their pricier stuff even when you want something different. Three of us ordered roti canai with telur goyang, but they had already plated chicken without asking and sort of guilt-tripped us into accepting it. We didn't want to be rude, so we went along, but the cost ended up being twice what we initially ordered. Even the folks at the table next to us ordered ice milo and got served vanilla ice cream in it. They tried to convince him to just roll with it, but he stood his ground and made them change it because it would have been more expensive. The experience was honestly pretty disappointing, and the food was just average. I wouldn't really feel like recommending this spot to anyone.

📍Transfer Road Roti Canai 🥘Not uncommonly described as over-rated, Transfer Road Roti Canai stands its ground till today with a steady stream of loyal customers. This is, to some, the best ever Roti Canai. Whether true or not, it undeniably stands as a legend; a name that is a giant amongst others. 🧓Running for over 45 years (that's nearly double my life-time!), they are truly masters of their craft. The owner of this store didn't really bother answering my humble enquiries. 'Just look on the internet and you can see', that's all he said to me, and continued tossing the roti canai. There's a confidence he exudes about his craft; they're content. The word 'content' perhaps accurately describes the vibes I get here. 🍗For Rm2 per Roti Canai, and Rm6 for a whole chicken, cuisine here is undeniably on the pricier side. It was good, and the curries were rich. Perhaps, for many, this is a favourite because it is an acquired taste. For me, I've acquired a taste for other stores, those being favourite. Afterall, a favourite is always a personal decision. 🥚The 4 eggs with toasted bread costs Rm8 in total. I'd come here for the experience, simply because it is talk of the town when it comes to Roti Canai. Otherwise, for a breakfast of my preference, I'd choose somewhere I frequent in Tanjung Bungah.

This was the worst food I’ve ever tasted in Penang! Wondering why it was so famous and it’s crowded. First let’s talk about the ordering, they have 3 different stalls with 3 different cashier or people to place order. Roti canai, roti bakar and drinks. First let’s talk about the roti canai. The order of roti canai was so quick, the waiter just came and says “roti telur ayam berapa” in a rush then we said 6. Some of us didn’t even get to listen what they said. And no choices were given. The roti telur is not delicious at all. The telur itself is a bit hard compares to any other roti telur I had before in other places. The chicken is very very over cooked and cover with the red curry gravy taste. And the curry is tasteless too. Other than curry powder. Roti bakar is normal, drinks are just “drinkable”.

Overrated. Curry taste below average than any other mamak I've been, and the roti bakar taste so bland. Plus should have a choice on how many eggs we want. Cleanliness 1/5 so many tissues under table they dont even bother to clean it. Service not friendly the waiter asking for order rushingly didnt have the chance to know what menu they offered, how much is it. Then ask for money saying like "rm16" bro whatt say "total for 2 roti is 16' at first i dont understand what is he saying. Only good thing is fast service. Overall regret and not recommended my honest review if you dont believe go by yourself

Ordered roti canai + meat. The mrs ordered roti canai + chicken. The rotis were alright taste decent, not the best I've had. But seems that their pricing are not consistent. Got overcharged. Place is not suitable for families and are always packed.

The Grab driver pointed out where we stayed was across the road from the so called famous Roti Canai Transfer Road. Being a pretentious connoisseur of anything to do with roti canai, it really was a must-try. And I wish I knew better, because the place was an absolute rip-off. If there are people peddling you to get in to their joints, it's probably not any good. We paid close to RM20 for two rotis (yes, with meat) and drinks. The abangs didn't ask us whether we want the roti biasa or the roti telur, so of course they gave us the more expensive option. To top that off, the roti wasn't even that great. There are tons of other places within a km away from where I live in KL with better rotis than these. The chicken was nothing special, the sauce was meh. If anything, it was too extra. If you couldn't make it to this place in your Penang foodie tour, then you dodged a bullet. On top of all this, my stomach didn't feel all that great after having the roti.

I agree that the red sauce is not for everyone, but it is definitely for me! Really enjoy the food here. I ordered egg canai + chicken. The teh tarik is also nice. With a very big chicken and full stomach, i don’t think 9-10RM is overpriced. For all the comments regarding hygiene, you’re eating street food what do you expect. Go to the mall instead.

One of its kind Roti Canai. Must Try! Their gravy was very nice and different from other part in Malaysia and mutton is big and tasteful. But the nasi lemak let me down. Price is reasonable highly recommended.

A lot of haggling, touting and I felt very overwhelmed, coming here as my first breakfast in Penang. Food wasnt fantastic, canai was doughy, curry dhal was watery and diluted, sambal was watery and undercooked. The lady there also insisted us to buy her nasi lemak and it costs RM10 with mediocre taste. A man also kept insisting for us to purchase his roti bakar telur goyang at RM8 - kept repeating it until we had to order it. Ordered ice milo but it came with vanilla ice-cream - which was uncalled for. Tourist trap place. Overrated. Expensive. Better canai places out there.

I’m really sorry that I have to give this review. We had high expectations because it’s a local hotspot and we’d heard a bunch of recommendations for this place! But the roti canai was kind of doughy and not crispy on the outside/fluffy on the inside like we expected. Even the teh tahrik kind of just tasted like very sweet sugar water. Ordering system is kind of messy too.

Doesn't taste good as much as before I assume they precooked the pratas before they got slammed. The kuahs not hot enough too. Roti bakar goyang serve fastest than drinks aha overall average.

Just so-so. Not worth to try. The menu comes with set. We ordered roti canai ayam (rm8) & roti canai daging (rm10). Roti canai is roti telur. The gravy is really spicy. Probably because didn't cook well.

Not your average roti canai place. Our two roti canai bias’s with egg plus chicken drumstick cost RM36 for 3 servings. Tastes great but eating along the roadside and paying this amount does not make sense. More for tourists than locals.

There are three different bos here, one incharge of drinks, one is roti canai and one is roti bakar. Their roti bakar just soso so i didnt order. The roti canai ayam is RM9 (abit pricey), taste so good (but for me, im that kind of person really like roti canai la, so it may taste like normal tasty roti canai you can get in mamak, but nowadays also not all mamak can make a delicious kari dhal also la). The chicken abit small but is well cooked. Reach here on 8:30am on weekday also have lot of customer ady.

This place is so famous especially among travellers. The food is just ok. Please take note that on weekends and public holiday you need to eat what they offered. No choice. If you want to make an order you need to come on normal day. For me it is just overrated as famous. If you come on busy day just go and seat on any available table. They will come and get you the food. Don't queue as it is just for take away.

Roti Canai+Ayam was very delicious. Even for my european mouth was it possible to eat spicy :d Here you get your roti canai with a kind of sauce. New experience but very tasty. The service is a bit stressful and nearly unfriendly. No explanations for tourists like us and the beverages must be payed during we ate our meal?! Price would be rounded up (at least for white people :p ).

  • 3/5 Noor A. 5 months ago on Google
My wife and I ordered the viral menu and yes, the sauce might not suit everyone but it suits us. A little bit spicy. My wife ordered the meat one, not consistent in terms of tenderness. Our children ate roti telur, too crunchy and dry for them.

Once you step into the store, everyone will flood you with their recommded food and it got very confusing and annoying. We ordered roti canai (rather doughy, & salty) with chicken & nasi lemak. Asked for extra side of sugar, but no one seems to care. Environment wise - flies were everywhere, chairs were all dirtied with spilled eggs / curry. Should have heeded our drivers advise to skip this place! Totally not worth the trip.

  • 1/5 Nik C. 4 months ago on Google
Very pushy to get you to order the most expensive dish on their menu. I have informed them twice in Malay that I would just want the roti canai but the guy pretended as if he did not hear my order. Food is not great and I would not waste my time coming here at all. Disappointed despite many people recommending this place.

The food is averagely good, specialty roti ayam (Drumstick) kari on a roti canai which tasted like there’s cheese inside too.. (secret recipe…) 4 stars is max to be given… food is good, environment is not the best. Service: they might have understanding issue.

One of the famous roti canai in Penang, Roti Canai Transfer Road sells one of the best roti canai and favourite among the locals. Haven't been here for more than a decade due to long queue both weekdays and weekends, finally I had the chance dine in at the premise. Dining experience will make you remember of your school canteen - squeezing to get a seat and sitting in single line over a table. My seat faced the road yet I enjoyed the view of busy roads, people roaming the streets and chefs preparing all the pipping hot roti canai. I ordered roti canai with heavy gravy of beef curry, but do not deceive by the fiery red curry as it's not too spicy yet aromatic with spices. Just lovely to my taste bud.

  • 3/5 KaLex C. 1 year ago on Google
Very famous roti canai in penang Town. I am not so fancy on this type of roti canai, but it's like roti canai banjir ayam drumstick. Overall ok, try out for first experience. Table sitting like old school time canteen style, facing road at one row.

  • 4/5 Fairy F. 1 year ago on Google
one go here not just for the food, but also the experience. tips for first timer. find a table. there are limited seating across the street. they used to occupy part of the street and empty buildings, but not anymore. if you want roti bakar, you can just grab those from the stall. self service style. if you want roti canai, someone will get your order. same with drinks. the tricky part is getting your exact food order as it all depends on what is available at the time. if it gets too busy, they will serve you with whatever they have on hand. i asked for roti kosong with kari ayam, i got roti telur with kari ayam instead. the kari is spicy but nice.

  • 3/5 Azman N. 2 years ago on Google
Nah. Don't bother, unless you must. It's just long lines (2 lines 1 for take aways and 1 across the street to dine in) and over-hyped. Due to over crowding, the foods are just made on the run.

More parking at museum hotel. Delicious roti canai ayam. Need to pay seperately for drink, roti canai & roti bakar. Easily get seat if u come in small group (2people). Otherwise, need to wait for a seat.

  • 4/5 Jason C. 2 years ago on Google
Roti canai was too thick for us, come earlier if u want to taste the mutton & beef. Chicken taste ok, the curry sauce taste good. We dont like the roti bakar, the type of butter taste weird.

  • 3/5 Zinc C. 3 years ago on Google
Arrived early and seats were applenty. Ordered 2 rotis, 1 with chicken and another with beef, sadly enough that the mutton was not ready yet (arrived to early 😂). As the roti were served, I've noticed that the gravy is kinda like my hometown's Bihun Ayam Tembaga's gravy and once it hits my tongue the similarity is apparent. Aaaaaah, comfort food!!! Lightly spiced and a bit hot it compliment the roti nicely. The beef is tender but the chicken is a bit undercooked. Oh, we did ordered a set of Roti Bakar which we didn't have the pleasure to taste 😂. No worries as the roti is filling enough (for the time 🤭). Verdict, food is splendid, ambience is okay laaaaa (what to expect from a roadside stall), beverage is average, price is reasonable. And almost forgot this curry/gravy is an aquired taste, some of you will love it while some will hate it. Maybe have a go when you're in the area (?) as the expirence is quite unique.

Perhaps the most iconic roti canai in Penang. I can take this breakfast, lunch and dinner. Btw, the roti bakar telor goyang is so tasty and it has this bite even though soaked in half cooked eggs. So sedap. 😍😍

Not bad on their food taste base. Hate the drinks here as you don’t get to choose hot drink and they have readily made iced drinks for you to choose. Not an environmental hygiene 😅.
