I can feel my chest vibrating at the rythom of hard techno and despacito. The hostel is really nice but they should invest in new windows with 4 layers of glass to avoid the music or just become a party hostel.

The hostel staff is friendly and tried their best to solve problem for me. The bed and shower is good. The toilet is a little bad because the flush is weak. The free breakfast is the worst. They are using very bad daily bread. Should have used Massimo or even Gardenia. They only have the bad bread, egg, fruit jams, butter and coffee/tea.

It's very good, got WiFi, beds are comfy enough, breakfast was nice, reception very helpful. BUT downside is thicker blankets needed as aircon is awesome so can get chilly. Also, windows don't block out sound from traffic (even with earplugs) which is non-stop, and at 6am sharp loud prayers were blaring right next to us outside. Mozzies also live in the toilets and shower cubicles.

My wife and I have booked 3 nights at Georgetown Residences hostel via Hostel World. (2 beds in the mixed dorm) In reality, we went to check the hostel the previous night, and they took us around and then we booked. We unfortunately faced a few issues in the one single night we ended up staying: - the lockers (in the dorm) did not have locks, and when we raised that to reception, they simply said they don't have anymore locks to give to guests and that we needed to buy some in order to lock our valuables in their lockers. We expressed our disappointment and that at the very least they should highlight that to guests in advance (in their Hostel World details for instance), and that they should have mentioned that to us when we visited the previous day, to make us aware we would need to have locks. When we escalated this to the owner (who I talked to in the phone), he eventually advised that we could leave valuables with the staff at reception; however, in the evening, there was no one at reception to either leave items with them or retrieve them later... - in the evening, when we went to sleep, we discovered that the window just next to our beds doesn't close completely and there's a gap of 5 cm, and since there was a club next door, we barely had any sleep throughout the night! and again there was no one at reception to talk to and raise the issue then. - there was simply NO internet connectivity at all, we tried the dorm, the sitting and reading area, close to the bathrooms, it did not work in one single location, internet was simply off. - whenever we tried to talk to the staff, they were impatient, not very professional, and wouldn't actually listen to what we have to say, they'll just cut you and talk without resolving the concern, we found it very difficult and quite frustrating to communicate with them. So following morning, we went to reception and asked to cancel the remaining 2 nights as we were absolutely unhappy (didn't sleep through the night and wasted one day of connectivity as we had no Internet); They said it's ok and that they will cancel remaining 2 nights and refund us; however they only refunded 108 MYR instead of 132 MYR. we were too tired to argue so we just left, so in the end we didn't even get all of our remaining money back; where, really, we should have had a compensation for the time and energy we have wasted through a sleepless night and frustrating stay.

Clean place with friendly staff, they'll answer all your question and help you as much as possible. Close to all the main attractions and great beds to sleep in after a full day of walking

Not a great experience. One person in my room got $200USD stolen during the day. Staff was not present one morning when we woke up, no breakfast served , and no one responding to calls or texts. Felt a bit unsafe.

!No go place! We booked 2 nights prepaid over Agoda. Confirmation for a private room arrived by e-mail After we showed up, the room was not available. And they told us that we booked dorm beds. They didn’t want to pay us our money back in cash so we left. Now Residence doesn’t reply our and Agoda’s mails. Agoda won’t give us our money back if residence doesn’t reply mails. We lost our prepaid money 38€. And had to search a backup spontaneously. Never ever again

Fantastic, funky, clean and friendly place to stay in George Town! The staff is great and super helpful, the beds are comfy, and the bathrooms are spacious and clean with great hot water. I stayed here for 5 nights and would definitely return!

Location is great and there's a complimentary breakfast. The bathrooms could use some better cleaning.

Like most stellar rated accommodation, this place has gone downhill. Problematic wifi, toilet & shower problems weak A/C, lots of traffic and Mosque noise. I think you can find better, unfortunately I booked a week. Get what you pay for...

It was my first time to stay in a hostel and what can I say? I loved every second of my stay there thanks to Ate Bernie, Ate Che and Kuya Pare. :) They work at the hostel and they're really friendly! I didn't feel lonely or bored thanks to these sweet and cheerful people. :) The hostel is really clean from the corridors, to the rooms and the bathroom. Cleanliness and comfort is really important to me so there's not one bit of a problem. Breakfast is free and no worries for lunch and dinner since the location of the hostel is perfect. Everywhere is walking distance. 7-11 is just right around the area and I've found an Indian restaurant which is really good with affordable meals. The mall is 15 minutes away from there too if you want to go shopping. Also, thanks to Ate Che for persuading me to visit the famous street arts. It's just a 15-minute walk to where most of the street arts are. Just take a map with you which is available at the front desk and you'll have no problem going around even if you're alone. No need to spend money on taxis or any vehicles. Enjoy every bit of it by walking and I assure you, it will all be worth it. I even walked as far as to where the clock tower is and then walked around the Esplanade. The only regret I had was not being able to visit the 3D Art Museum. Here are some photos I took. Enjoy! ^_^ <3

😠 THE WORST HOSTEL I HAVE EVER STAY. THE STAFF WAS RUDE AND SHOUTED LOUDLY JUST BECAUSE I OPENED A DOOR WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION. THIS WHOLE BUILDING IS FULL OF COCKROACH AROUND HERE AND THERE. MANAGEMENT VERY BAD. POOR CLEANLINESS.
