A nice layout on the upper level to enjoy open air seating as well as the aircon. The only working toilet accessible but not for those challenged by stairs.

It is a nice move by Starbucks for employing deaf and hard-on-hearing partners. The quality of the service delivered by them is good as well. I recommended that we can learn simple "thank you" hand sign and show to them as an appreciation to their hard work.

It's a great initiative by the owner of the shop. Here's a guide for those who would like to purchase and give them a support: 1. You could either walk in and write your order on the iPad or you could find a Order Sheet where you can write down all your orders in the sheet. 2. Remember to write down your name as well. 3. Check your order on the payment screen and make your payment. 4. If you would like to reload your card, show the barcode in your Starbucks App then show the cashier how much your reload amount through sign language. 5. After done payment, proceed to the next counter to wait for your order. Please pay attention to the employees as they could now shout out your name like other outlets. 6. The washroom is at the end of the shop.

The branch is the first signing language Starbucks in Penang. They displayed the sign language at the front and have asthetic exterior. We walked inside and served by a staff with special ability, she cannot here us but she write gracefully. She is able to offer us best deal on the menu. I had square donut of Starbucks which is fluffy and soft.

Three loud cheers to Berjaya-Starbucks for this CSR project! What stands out for this particular outlet is that it is a Signing Store manned by baristas with hearing impairments. (The other two are in the Klang Valley and Borneo if not mistaken.) What better way to put goodwill into actions by actively engaging our society with people with special needs ploughing back into the community? Excellent service too if I might add. Could not think of another Malaysian corporate that puts great ideals into practical actions enriching our society this way. Definitely worth your patronage this unique Signing Store! Great special-edition preload cards too for the collector enthusiasts. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A good starbucks if you like your own space. 3 stories and plenty of outlets, so it's easy to find a corner to yourself. The staff and some of the customers were deaf/HoH, which made me realize I forgot most of my college sign classes 😄

I really love this branch. They really put attention to details of your food and drinks. They take the effort to wipe clean the plate and carefully put the herbs on top of the Mac and cheese ordered. Other branch i've been to, they just put into the oven, come out and quickly put whatever they have to and serve it to you. I even had a cold Mac and cheese from other branch once too but this branch is superb. Kudos!! They just have to repair their second floor outdoor fan that's it. It seems to be stuck on one speed and it's super slow so it gets really hot outside.

Ordered an iced caffe latte and was told by the super friendly staff that there was a 1:1 offer for the day (Nov 11). Ordered another red velvet frapp to go with the order. Super nice environment, super awesome staff. Ordering was a breeze.. drinks were very carefully crafted. Will surely visit again and again... tho parking is a bit of an issue there. Thumbs up for the signing cafe!!

It's really nice to see the Starbuck's company are helping the disabled, and it seems the community at large too, proudly served by deaf baristas!

Absolutely loved the experience at this Signing Store. Staff were super efficient and understanding. Plus, I had possibly the best Hazelnut Dolce Frappe in my life. Drinks were made so accurately I was surprised that the store was low traffic. And there is absolutely no difference from any normal Starbucks. Would definitely make this a favorite spot.

Great experience here, all the staff is mute yet felt really helpful, and the ambiance was nice and chilled, perfect for relaxing and lite conversations or meeting

This is the 1st signing Starbucks in Penang. The ambient is quiet and nice. There is also signing themed merchandise, which is unique compared to other Starbucks stores.

This has to be my favourite Starbucks store in Penang! The barista was well trained, intuitive and very courteous despite her challenges. I couldn't recall her name but I believe she is Ani Choo according to my receipt. Will be back again to support the special needs community.

What a great experience, the staff are amazing. The best service ever. Didn't realise the Baristas were deaf, their communication was awesome and I even remembered some of my signing.

Randomly barged in and was surprised it is a signing Starbucks. Orders can be made via memo. Environment, food and beverage are great. Quite a unique experience. Parking could be an issue though.

It's a sign language Starbucks outlet, which meant the attending staff are deaf. So please be kind and understanding with them. Ordering is done via ordering chit. Otherwise, it's what's you expect from a Starbucks outlet. There's multiple stores in this outlet. And there's a outdoor balcony seating as well overlooking the main street. Toilet downstairs is out of service on my visit. You need to go upstairs.

  • 5/5 KeanSeng C. 1 year ago on Google
Very friendly staffs. Though they are hearing impaired person, there is a notepad at the order counter for one to write down the order. So, no problem with ordering. The coffee are nicely prepared, not like other outlets. It is also not too crowded, plenty of seats available. Very nice experience.

Having problem of communication with deaf and mute service worker but they are very patient and wrote in on iPad so that we understand them. Feel happy that Starbucks give the opportunity for handicapped pal to earn for their living.

Great experience communicating with the deaf staff. My signing is rusty but luckily they get what I meant. Maybe I signed something stupid who knows. Lol. Good job Starbucks

Coffee quality greatly depends on the barista / store. But this store / barista has really good skill! This is best Starbucks in town!

😠 Premium price tag but lousy service! There should be no star at all! I bring my family of 5 came for dessert around 8.30pm. 🫤 Overrated. Tried pork leg rice, Penang loh mee and Penang style CCF, all were subpar. Pork leg rice - Quite bland. The egg used was not even a proper lu-dan (soy egg), just a plain hard boiled egg. They did not even serve it with salted vege. Not good and not authentic. Penang loh mee - I'm a...
