A good variety of local breakfast food! Char Koay Teow - This was alright. Loh Mee - It’s my first time having loh mee in Penang, not sure if their version is supposed to be less vinegary and garlicky but I like it! Almost every table had a bowl of this! Koay Teow Th’ng - How can we forget KTT right, it’s one of the more highly reviewed items at this coffeeshop too! We have been eating KTT every day since the start of the trip 😆 This was our favourite breakfast dish, KTT in Penang just hits different. So flavourful yet not too oily 🙂 The fried shallots/garlics were a nice touch! Wan Tan Mee - Finally a better wan tan mee here. Not too bad.

My friend desired oyster omelette more than any other Penang food and sniffed out this coffee shop where it is cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside. We also had char kway Teoh and our tummies were happy.

Kuey teow soup RM 5: 3*. Clear soup, non-greasy but also not flavourful. Pork liver, thick cut n fresh, no smell. Pork ball, can taste salted fish 💪🏼 Fish ball, fishy taste so some may like, some may not. Sadly, d tastes remain individually as they dont gel together. Wanton mee RM 5: 4*. Black sauce is on d sweeter side. Like d noodles, al-dante. Charsiew is good. On d whole, slightly greasy. Kaya butter toast with half-boiled egg RM 2.20+2.40 3*. White enriched bread, not d traditional kind of bread. Planta margarine n brown kaay. Kopi O is power: 4*. Kopi: 2* - can only taste sweet n nothing else. Lor Mee RM 5: 3*. d meat slices r like chopped n blends into d gravy. Only d egg is eaten as a 料, otherwise it's just eating mouthful of mee. Coffee shop is clean n neat. Find our own seats, wait around for own table. All d stall owners offer table service.

Location Yes is the city centre and tourist spot also. Parking Advice to come early and plan your itinerary and best to skip if can from driving since all with walking distance. Make find parking not an issue. Food The loh mee is very nice. The gravy or soup is thick and we'll blend with the noodle. Can try for second time also.

Typical Penang local coffee shop with hawker stalls. Great place for tourists to experience old days of Penangites. Food ratings by the sequence of my personal preference Half boiled eggs on toast, Oysters omelette, Lor Mee, wan ton Mee, char Koay teow. I didn't try the Koay teow thing..so, not in the list but it's famous too. Looking for a table can be a challenge during peak hours and the same for carpark.

Easy to find, plenty of seating options (people eat fast anyway), fair prices, and food was served quickly. Where we sat on the sidewalk next to the road was kept clean. We ordered two iced white coffees, kaya toast with half boiled egg, and a medium sized wan tan mee. All very delicious, no complaints. Better to come here instead of oo white coffee — which is overcrowded and overpriced!

Went at 1pm on the first day, lor mee was closed. Oyster omelette was good and crispy. I would request for more chilli to be added into the oyster omelette, I found the chilli for dipping a tad too sweet for my liking. We ordered the small serving with added oysters 20rm. Wantan mee was surprisingly good too, sauce was not sweet. We went back for lor mee the second day. It was authentic and flavorful but i had to add soy sauce to really bring out the full flavor. Enjoyable experience as a whole. Will come back.

First time visiting the restaurant. I was told that the "Stir Fried Oyster" is delicious and it was indeed tasty. Definitely a go to dish if you're there. The egg noodle was okay, not the best but convenient to get.

The size in the picture is medium, which I found a bit large for lunch, especially that the dish is greasy (not in a bad way). I loved the oyster omelette, it was definitely special. I wish the chilli dip was bigger.

Quite a good place for breakfast or lunch. The wanton mee is one of the better ones in Penang especially the juicy wantons. The Kway Teow Soup is not too shabby either. The best dish there is probably the oyster omelette (juicy oysters and crispy egg), however you'll have to wait quite a bit. The Chinese tong sui (peanut tong sui) and you tiao is pretty good too.

Nice coffee shop with several options. We wanted an early morning breakfast before our bus and the place was already bustling with customers at 7:15AM. We ordered the following : 1) Lor Mee - Excellent luscious lor mee. Thick gravy that didn't peter out till the end. Nice noodles. Good smattering of garlic and ingredients. 2) Koay Teow Thng - Nice soothing soup with soft koay teow. Comes with fishball, pork liver and some nice chilli to mix it all in.

Came by to try the fried oyster unfortunately it wasn't to my liking as I prefer the more gluey type. The chef was friendly and shared how his drier and crispier fried oyster was made and how it takes longer time to prepare. I would it is nice if you like the crispier fried oyster and his oyster is fresh. The chili was also amazing I took two for my single serving at RM13. The kopitiam has really oily floor so better becareful. Parking is a challenge here but luck was with me a parking lot right in front of the shop was available.

Typical Penang style kopitiam (coffee shop). It sells various peranakan style food and beverage. The half boiled egg and toast bread is a must try. Beside it, they also serve char koay teow, nasi lemak, etc. Usually crowded and full, so should wait for seating

We came by for breakfast at 9am on a weekend and the staff were quick to point out a table that we could sit at. We got two medium portions of Wanton Mee (RM 6.50) and Char Kway Teow (RM 10). The wanton mee's char siew was very tasty and thinly sliced. Dumplings were also had quite a bite to them. The char kway teow came with two prawns that did not seem fresh. But the star is the kway teow which had some wok hei, and was so good.

Coffee is fragrant and very gao. Had lormee and it’s simple good old school taste. Toast is good with half boiled eggs which come in unique individual glass. Hop yo next door for fresh knead fried Chinese snacks, they have uniquely Mao shan wang jiandui.

The wanton mee taste alright. Just nice sauce on the noodle with good texture. The dumpling are good. RM5 was decent amount. 3 stars for this. In contrary, the oyster omelette was a real disappointment. Very salty and oily. Oyster is not fresh and small. Couldn't finish the food. RM13 for a smallest plate. 1 star for this.

*Parking here can be a bit of a challenge. There is a parking lot a few minutes down the street but that fills up pretty quickly too. If you want to take the risk you can illegally park outside the restaurant but be warned that the traffic police make their rounds frequently here so you need to be very aware of the situation outside. Ambience: It’s the typical kopitiam style of environment. So think sitting on a plastic chair and table and just shifting around other people to walk around. Service: Nothing to complaint about, as they try to meet everyone’s order as well as they can. The restaurant staff is also diligent in ensuring that drinks orders are taken and met quickly. Food: Pretty good! Although I haven’t managed to try Oh Chiens in other Penang stores due to the limited time I had, I can safely say this is definitely one of the best I’ve had so far anywhere. There was some inconsistency in the taste I had when I went 2 times however, as the first time was crispier while the 2nd time was more watery. Price: Reasonably priced, as it costs around RM12 for a small dish of Oh Chien (Doesn’t look that small tbh). Considering the quality you are getting this is also pretty reasonable. Conclusion: Would I come back here for this? I’ve already answered by question above and undoubtedly I would if I come back to Penang. This is definitely one of the best ones I’ve had.

Very friendly store with many hawker food options. They spoke English and explained the options, the small size plates were perfect to try stuff. We had the oyster omlette which seems to be famous, and also the kuay teow soup. For drinks, we tried the fresh lime juice and iced coffee. All very good.

An unassuming coffee shops where the locals fill their tummies. Seats are very limited and it will be hot and humid. It is meant for a quick meal and coffee to kick off your day. We had loh Mee, Hokkien Mee and wanton Mee here and they all were great. I liked the Penang Hokkien Mee with it's robust soup base. The loh Mee is also slightly different than what you have in Johor or SG. Service is very fast here, you'll get your food within 5 mins upon placing your orders on a weekday. Coffee is you local kopi with a slight sour aftertaste. Be quick with your meal too as there will be plenty of locals waiting behind you so that they can grab a meal and start their day.

Nice cup of tea. Good wanton Mee order extra char siu and that was homemade Smokey and charred. Highlight of the dish (The ‘normal was the orange dyed char siu) A little too much black sauce for me. Noodles were cooked well- still QQ But ok for first breakfast

Very busy cafe with lots of local options. Typical street food ambiance. Lots of locals and foreigners dining here. The food is served quickly. You pay upon receiving your food at your table. Seems like a place for a quick stop for lunch and not a place to linger or chat for a long time.

Had or chien (fried oyster) here, was overly greasy, and the flames were not hot enough to give it a much needed crisp. Oysters were large and fresh, which brings it back to an average rating.

Coffee shop owner very friendly and polite, will remind customer to pay for the parking fees due to authorities frequent came to check and summoned issued those who failed. Drinks well prepared and great taste. Wanted to try Nasi Lemak was told only available weekdays (Mon - Fri) Fried Oyster taste used to be great but nowadays handover to son and the food was over fried and the taste no longer has authentic flavours. Wan Tan Noodle stall was run by uncle (one man show) need to keep reminding your orders otherwise will forgotten, taste considering not bad.

Probably the best lor mee in the world. The thick, flavourful gravy and generous ingredients make it an incredibly unique dish that can't be found anywhere else in Malaysia, Singapore and probably the whole world. My time living overseas for 10 years have been spent dreaming about tasting the thick, black, sumptuous gravy in the many restless nights and lifeless days. Finally tasting this again amidst the crisis makes life more bearable and colourful again.
