Cafe

👍 I believe this cafe is one famos spot in the area. I was there because their churros are recommended, and it was not a disappointment!!! Good coffee also, if you are into coffee. The place is a bit small but since it was a weekday so we felt like having the place to ourself. People often mention coffee, churros, cafe, good, nice, Churros, friendly, great, lime, shop,

A great place to chill with friends. Drinks and desserts are great. My local friend told me they make the best Churros in Penang and I agreed. The drinks are above average as well. Spent around RM80 for 5 pax. I dropped by after a hike (11AM). The place can accomodate around 8-12 people at a time, so plan well.

I am not a coffee lover, but I like The Alley signature coffee so much, cold brew without ice😍 The coffee is cold and delicious 🤤 as I don’t like ice cube bcos too cold. A nice place to hang out with frenz chit chatting.

A small cafe tucked in the alley. Yet the churros are something worth visiting. The combination I had was (chocolate & Oreo crumbs) it's not overwhelmingly sweet!!! Which I liked. Coffee had a minor sour backwash, but laced with chocolate taste? (** still decent, just describing the taste)

Simple cafe with nice and friendly workers. Coffee are superb with good filtering technique. Must try out their key lime pie, best to match with coffee!

Superb churros that are fried to perfection and go well with dips. Tried the Nutella (I prefer this) and cinnamon dip. The cold brew coffee is so nice compared to other famous coffee shop chain. Very thick (kaw), flavourful and fragrant. Things to note: Quite limited seats. No heavy meals available.

This cafe serves the best churros in town! Staffs are friendly, atmosphere is good, coffee is nice, food is great. A little side note, they serve only dessert here. --Returned to this cafe on 30th Dec 2021 (one year later)-- Still the best churros and this is the main reason why I remain my 5 stars rating for them. Coffee on the rock is no longer on the "rock", no more giant ice cube. Just normal americano with multiple small ice cubes. It may sounds normal, but giant ice cube melts slower and melting equals to more water being released to the coffee, making its taste to become plain.

Cosy little cafe served only coffee and desert had a piccolo, nice single shot coffee with latte. Desert is churros with choice of 2 dips. The dips is not thick enough. Churros too crunchy, perhaps a little over fried. Well nice place to drop by. The server, she is courteous in taking our order.

Not a bad cafe. Dimple and fun Deco gor the interior. Wont be my regular choice. I was excited to be able to explore the cafe until the waiter told us time limit is one hr. If i felt welcome and great company, definitely need longer than an hr. If i feeling uncomfortable sure one hour is more than enough.

Food and their infamous churros was great, and coffee is amazing. Highly recommend to try their espresso if you're keen for a great cup of coffee. The retro game machine is a plus!

Heard this place is famous for its churros. Came for that. Not regretting it, the churros are bomb. The size of each one is so big, you'll get full by the end of all 8 churros. So crunchy on the outside and smooth on the inside. The caramel dip is so good with it. Worth the price as well.

Very tasty key lime pie. The churros were ok, but it was "just" fried dough and not real churros. Drinks were nice too, even for non coffee drinkers like me. Prices are on the high side though.

Sometimes I have reservations when revisiting a country or city, not so with Penang. It's ever changing street art never fails to impress, not does it's love for cafes and specialty coffee. One of my favourite cafes is The Alley, it's located between a huge Chinese temple and the infamous Antarabangsa Enterprise. They focus on great speciality coffee made with love

Nice find hidden in a shophouse near Georgetown. Had the Churros and the Lemonade as I'm not a coffee drinker and they were both extremely tasty. According to my partner, the coffee is very nice as well!

This cafe really has a good vibes. There’s three type of coffee bean for customer to choose. The barista was so nice, they even explain what’s the different between the beans to us. The churros is really tasty!!! It’s crispy outside and tender inside!! We choose to dip with dark chocolate with cinnamon powder, it’s definitely the best combination!!

The Alley at Gurney is a hidden cafe located nearby the famous temple (Goddess of Mercy). It is located at the small alley with the name board “Keat Seang”, they do have a silver signboard located in front of their shop. They are famous for their churros which is tasted like a fried dough and served well with dipping sauce. I tried churros with Nutella and Oreo crumbs. I also tried the key lime pie, it was not bad just that the crust a bit “wet”. Coffee itself is good, acidic type. Internal design feel very cozy and comfortable with music. Good place to stop by for snacks and coffee.

The atmosphere of the cafe is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee and a set of churros. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, if you're a coffee lover and a churro enthusiast, this cafe is definitely worth a visit.

This cafe is located in an old building and has a cozy atmosphere. The coffee is unique and we tried the tonic water with espresso and alley Freddo. For dessert, we had the key lime pie. As it was hot outside, the cream had melted a bit by the time it was served. Overall, it was a nice experience. There are many interesting and picturesque old buildings nearby for taking photos, and the famous Temple Kuan Yin Tengis next door for those who want to pay their respects.

One of the better piccolo that I have ever had. A good balance between acidity and sweetness with the tastes of raisins, chocolate fudge and grapefruit. Churros served is crispy and quite doughy on the inside accompanied by Nutella and kong t'ng giving it that Penang twist.

A recommended cafe to take a rest by having a cup of good coffee couple with some desserts. Highly recommended Alley Freddo couple with lemon meringue cheesecake

I have come to frequent this cafe for the delicious churros. It is fried at just the right crispiness yet maintaining the soft texture when you bite into it. I am not a coffee drinker so I can't comment on that. Staff and service are friendly and quick.

definitely the best churros i've ever tasted, making the alley a must visit whenever i'm in penang! not only are their churros flavourful, it is also really affordable. on top of that, the staff are really warm and friendly. in short, worth visiting!

The coffee shop is a small space but cozy and it’s a relaxing place to enjoy such heritage feels. The churros is the signature snack and it comes with multiple choices of toppings and dipping sauces. The caramel coffee is one of the best coffee I’ve tasted, not too bitter, not too milky. Taste just right.

  • 5/5 Renee C. 1 year ago on Google
Stopped in (specifically went here) for a morning coffee and sweet. The churros were some of the best that I’ve had outside of Spain. Really crunch outside and super moist on the inside. The churro wasn’t greasy at all and the caramel dip was just sweet enough to balance the savoryness of the churro. The coffees were also quite good. We had a regular and oat milk variety and both were nice. The beans are medium roast and low bitterness. Nice shop, not easy to find. Worth the visit if any the area. We would go again (specifically for the Churros)

There’s a reason why this place has stood the test of time. An unassuming place with coffee to awaken the senses, good old churros and a selection of cakes that just hit the spot. Non coffee drinkers should definitely try out their hot chocolate, as it is not the generic flat, sugary tasting ones found in most places.

Not easy to find parking... Nice place to chill.. Time limit only applicable when there is waiting line... Churros - can choose 1 dip and 1 side..the Churros outside very crispy, inside soft.. Key lime pie - sweet and sour taste, but no worries, not so sour, is refreshing.. Will revisit again for the churros.. Menu price shown nett price.
