Cozy place, food and coffee are well served as well. But the hygiene and cleanliness needs to be improved. (Next door room) - Table was not clean properly after customers used. I asked a cute staff to clean up, but still not doing it seriously, she just wipe once, and it just like spread the coffee stain evenly on the table. 😓😅 - Food crumbs, used tissues, ants is around the floor. - Flies is everywhere. I was ready to spend 2 hours and had more meals here, but i can’t enjoy the food and the environment because of the cleanliness. There are many foreigners customers as well, what would they think about Malaysian when they experience all these.

Good ambience. It was almost full even when we came at 9.15am. A delicious big breakfast. Bagel is 8/10. Reasonable price for the amount they gave. And a pretty hot chocolate artt!

The quality and taste are outstanding. I highly recommend trying the Avocado French Toast. For a savory option, the Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon is a must-try. The perfectly poached eggs and rich hollandaise sauce complement the smoky salmon impeccably. And let's not forget the Lemon Poppy Seed bread - a delightful burst of citrusy goodness that pairs beautifully with any dish. Parking at Yin's Sourdough is generally convenient, although availability may vary depending on the time of day. It's worth keeping in mind, especially during peak hours. The overall experience was fantastic. The attention to detail and quality of ingredients truly sets Yin's Sourdough apart. It's clear that the team is passionate about their craft. If you're a fan of sourdough or just looking for a memorable breakfast or brunch spot, Yin's Sourdough is a definite must-visit. I can't wait to return and try more of their offerings. Highly recommended!

Had a hearty breakfast at Yin's Sourdough. Portions were huge and both dishes were perfect. From the poppy seed sourdough bagel to the sourdough toast, salmon and eggs. Probably one of the best morning meals I've had. Managed to strike up a conversation with a staff outside the shop who was actually the father in law of Yin's, really friendly fellow. Apparently, a lot of tourists visit this outlet for their breakfast needs, everyday for some. Prices were reasonable and the shop was pleasant to dine in. Definitely give it a go if you are in Penang.

Their breakfast is excellent. I really like it. Will definitely go again. The shasuka was so nice and the bread 🍞 is so fresh. Must try I would say. 😋 price is above average. But the quality is good. Not easy to find parking at that area.

A cool place with a great breakfast menu! The overnight oats were absolutely delicious - best breakfast so far the past month in SEA. Sourdough toast was lovely. The avocado toast was soaked in balsamic and had gone soggy, unfortunate. Service was good and friendly.

Same as review below says, now that I found it I go every morning. Very good coffee (latte in my case), with breakfast menu available. Simple croissant or full breakfast, etc. Cheesy omelet is recommended. Other non-coffee drinks also on offer. Opens early enough that you can beat the Armenian Street crowds. Wifi works well. Recommended!

This is officially one of the best coffee I have ever tasted in my life...I tried the "mistress" coffee...it is so beautiful and the roasted tea and flowers accompanying it melts perfectly in this cup of pleasure...the cheese cake is also decadent. This is truly a memorable experience. The place is amazing, the decor are homey, the service is excellent...will definitely visit again if I ever come to Penang.

Lovely sourdough place, we went for another branch for coffee before and decided to come back to this branch, very cozy. There coffee was nice but we didn’t come in time for breakfast so got two sourdough sandwiches which the bread was nice but not so many taste in sandwiches. The staff is very lovely with great service. Very good place for chilling out.

Very chill place. Fantastic food and drinks with a nice focus on gut health (sourdough, kefir etc). We had spicy mayo chicken pizza, veg and cheese sandwich (featuring pickled red cabbage) and a tuna and guac sandwich. Kefir smoothies. Very good and friendly 100% recommend! Ps they also sell bread, drinks to go plus locally made earrings, postcards, granola, jams

I adore this place. As soon as I discovered it, we went there every day for breakfast or lunch and dessert. The sourdough is *absolutely delicious* (freshly baked every morning) with the menu serving a variety of dishes for any time of the day. The atmosphere is also lovely and comfy to sit in, we sat for hours one of the days. The story behind this cafe/ bakery makes it all the more endearing. Definitely a gem!

Cute little place to get breakfast! I got the beef shasuka which wasn't bad but quite watery and the portion of bread given with the dish was extremely small, which sucks because the bread was really nice! Overall I enjoyed my experience and I am glad I tried this restaurant once but won't go again because it is quite expensive. I went on a weekday around 10 and almost all the tables were full so probably wouldn't recommend going on the weekend.

It is all about sourdough bread. Good concept, well-executed. The place itself is not the biggest but has a chilled, easy feel to it. The dishes we ordered were good portion sizes. My wife loved the banana almond butter sandwich which had so many natural flavours going for it. My daughter and I tried the guacamole luncheon meat sandwich and salmon benedict bagel. Both were top-notch. One suggestion though that could make this cafe even better. The service. The girl who served us was cheerful and very alert, but she was the only one in our section. That meant that she was stretched. She doubled up as cashier too while we were leaving. A few extra hands on deck would relieve the pressure on the current staff members. All said and done, we had a good time and an enjoyable meal.

If you're a breads and pastry fan, then you would absolutely love this place. I definitely am one. The toasted sourdough sandwiches were very good. I had the chicken luncheon guacamole toasties and loved it. Perfect balance of everything, the cheese, the guacamole, the lightly toasted sourdough, the caramelised onions. Amazing! The coffee was great too. Ordered the drip coffee and the beans used were fruity n floral. We were too full to try the huge variety of other sourdough breads and pastries but we will definitely be back again. I absolutely adore this place! What a gem!

Nice atmosphere with cute Christmas decorations, although could use some more attention to cleanliness. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sourdough, top notch even by western standards! Got the avocado toast, perfect eggs but the overall taste leans a bit bland, which honestly was a welcome respite from all the other flavorful food in Penang. What really stood out to me was the pour over coffee, excellent clean taste, the notes were exquisite!

Bread to die for 🤤 Came here on different occasions, one time I had the Yin’s big breakfast which was good. The scrambled egg was very well prepared, kudos to the chef. The sausage was also very tasty and you could tell it has very little filler. Second and 3rd time I came here I had the mix toast with jam and butter & black coffee meal, and I must say I’m in love!! Each piece of toast is of different kind, the spreads are super delicious and they all come warm, crunchy and with the perfect amount of moisture. The mix toast costs around 6 ringgits and the coffee costs about the same. Highly recommend!

Great sourdough pizza! The service was great and the food and the coffee drinks were delicious. We missed their breakfast time so we had lunch which offers a slightly different menu but still has a lot of options.

👌 Awsome !! Delicious* Review_ * Great environment for breakfast and coffee. If you're a sour dough lover, highly recommend their toast, fresh out of the oven and crisp. The breakfast set is delicious too, scramble egg soft & fluffy, sausage well cooked and fragrant, love the homemade tomato sauce. Coffee is normal, I'm not a coffee connoisseur, not much comment from me, but the hot chocolate is nice. Note * there's a lot of people and limited seats, and ordering is self service. It can be quite busy sometimes, even though busy, the service is good, and food is served not too slow. Additionally, you can even request to preheat the pasteries downstairs, it tastes so much better. * 9 - 11 breakfast, 11 - 3 lunch (different menu sets) personally haven't try the lunch sets yet, there's homemade pizza! Would definitely come again. :) Blog_ * To sum up everything I wrote, great place to have breakfast, haven't tried lunch set yet, I saw there's pizza, spaghetti, chicken chop etc. While writing this I'm drooling 🤤 no much choice for hot drinks though, I'm more of a hot drinker, lots of milkshakes and coffee, free crystal water ;) . Would defo bring friends here to play board games and have casual convo. Price is above average, but its worth each penny, once in a while is okay. Would come back and try out all their foods.

Loved the coffee and sourdough! Nice selection of specialty coffee, if you need your filter coffee fix in Georgetown, this should be on your list. Sourdough was tangy and had a great crust. You can also buy loaves to take home at a reasonable price. The very friendly barista (sorry I didn't get your name bro!) even gave me a brief look at their coffee roaster at the back. Def will visit again next time I'm there

Yes, it’s common place for getting good start of the day with good breakfast. My omelette with toasts was big and tasty. Bread is delicious really. Owner meet you and his hospitality is so lovely. Surely we can discuss about prices but I suppose their prices are reasonable enough for this part of the city (and actually they are not too high). But keep attention: your bill will include extra money near 1,5-2 rm per person (maybe taxes).

Awesome food and good vibes! The owner baker Yin was at the cafe when we were there. She has a pleasant personality, friendly and no airs. Parking was a bit challenging as the area is hard to find carpark, but Yin will try her best to help. She actually moved her car to let us park!! How awesome is that?

Came here for breakfast and was so impressed! Sourdough bread is perfectly baked in the store and just the right flavour of sour. Ice-cream is also handmade and coffee also comes with latte art. Had the French Toast, which is egg-coated sourdough slices with caramelised banana and nut slices on top—unlike other places where the French Toast is just sweet, the French Toast at Yin’s has a rich, hearty complex flavour of sour mixed with sweetness. Definitely recommend for a visit!

Love their sourdough sandwich! The staff are very friendly and helpful too. There was a local uncle who is a regular here saying the portion is very generous here, which I totally agreed 😆 If you are wandering nearby (love lane, little India etc) do not miss this spot! Totally recommended.

Discovered this cafe when I Googled for sourdough. The cafe latte was really good and I was told that it was a house-blend. I ordered the egg benedict with smoked salmon on sourdough bagels for lunch and it was really good. They also have various kind scones, pie and cakes for tea break and sourdough loafs. Staff are very friendly and helpful, highly recommend this place.

A culinary delight for our team of 100 volunteers at Penang's STEM 2023 Showcase! We were treated to a sumptuous lunch pack, meticulously prepared to suit diverse dietary needs including vegetarian and allergen-free options. Yin's dedication to detail and top-notch service ensured every meal preference was expertly catered for. Despite challenging traffic conditions, their professional staff excelled in timely and smooth meal delivery. Highly commendable for their exceptional quality and service. A definite recommendation for any large-scale event!"

We had a pleasant experience here at the cafe. There seasonal panettone was chewy and had a subtle but satisfying citrus flavour. It paired with the matcha latte we ordered. The sourdough apple puff was delicious as well. It was chewy yet flaky - an interesting texture combination! The matcha latte could be a tad less sweet. Other than that, all was good! We would come back again 😄

Nice place for western style breakfast, coffee and fresh baked bread. The eggs benedict was good but could be better - toast the muffin more to stop it getting soggy/ wet from the toppings and use less vinegar in the poaching water, the eggs tasted a little too acidic.

I like their water kefir which was really refreshing. The roselle flavour was very balanced. Sourdough toast with butter and jam was enjoyable. This toast were soft yet crisp, the distinctive sourdough taste was good. Sourdough pizza was fluff and soft, enhance the texture of pizza in my opinion.

Sandwiches are very good, salad, snacks and coffee are ok. The interior is not very inviting and there are a LOT of flies. Since you can buy different types of bread for takeaway I'd recommend to just buy the packaged sourdough loaves and leave. Prices seem a bit steep, but taste is generally good, even though it's a bit unusual to use sourdough even for breads with sweet fillings.

Decent cafe with a mean cup of flat white. Almost all product has some component of sourdough as the name suggested hahaha The place is perfect for morning coffee or carbs craving.

Strongly recommended their red bean Chinese pancake... Outer layer abit crispy, and inner feel like mochi, together with the red bean is awesome.. The lasagna also not bad, even though it has cheese layer on top but won't feel heavy when u eat.. The tiramisu was surprised me cause the outlook was normal, hence I did not have much expectation.. However it comes with a strong alcoholic taste and bitter end.. Surprisingly taste good..

The best place for sourdough in Penang!! They have recently renovated their cafe (although seating may still be limited) to a more cozy environment with rustic decorations. Parking may be a hassle and beware not to park directly opposite along the cafe as summons are often issued here. Absolutely love the homemade kaya with their wholemeal & plain sourdough toasts - my go-to for breakfast with a cup of freshly brewed coffee. 10/10 recommended!

Ok this tops my list of bread and eggs based breakfasts in George Town. Yin’s baker’s touch is fantastic- everything that came out on the plate was as close to perfection as could be. Add to that the ambience and friendliness of the place. Definitely worth a visit. Or four.

Nice brunch place for coffee bagel or sandwiches. Bit crowded, waiting time is 10-15 min for sandwiches. We got a coffee that not exactly looked like on the picture, we complained they made a new one without a problem. Staff is welcoming and the food was really good!

Pretty decent bagel. Just that the portion of cream cheese was a tad sad. After a few bites, decided to go pick up a tub of my own. Maybe the portion depends on staff on duty and cream cheese availability.

📍Yin's Sourdough Bakery and Café @ Pesara Claimant, George Town (Ingredients sourced from Halal suppliers) Yin's Sourdough has been making headway in this niche market of sourdough baking, even so in the midst of this pandemic. Having already 4 branches (3 in Penang, and 1 in KL), they started 8 years ago, a small abode at Balik Pulau. Using strictly unbleached flour & no preservatives, Yin's mastery over sourdough baking has expanded through much creativity. Not only is sourdough used for her baked goods; it is also the essence of all her homemade pastas, pizzas and burger buns. 🏨We decided to try Yin's very own main branch, the bakery in Georgetown where all the magic happens. Much to our delight, Yin herself was there manning the bakery. The cuisine served there was excellent. 🍕Let me start with the pizzas. We ordered a mushroom pizza with rocket-leaves, and another version which was ?Hawaiian. It was PERFECT. The sourdough base was thin and crisp, the rocket leaves complemented the mushrooms incredibily, and the taste was mouthwateringly amazing. According to the reviews, some guests claim that this is where you can get the best pizzas in town. Clearly, if you are looking for the conventional style of pizza, this isn't the place to go. I feel as if the pizzas here are authentically and uniquely their style. It's a must-try. 🍝The lunch-set menu is delicious and affordable. It comes with the choice of a home-made pro-biotic drink (it was a gingery tonic which was lovely), or having coffee from their very own roastery. I had the Beef Bolognese and it was delectable and pure luxury. Generous chunks of home-ground beef with their very own sourdough pasta; it was rich and filling. My colleagues tried the Chicken Luncheon sandwich; it's really cool to know that their luncheon chicken meat is home-made, thus giving it a most rich and flavoursome taste. 🍔Just check out their Homemade Ground-Beef Sourdough Burger in the pictures. Everything in the menu has been well thought of, and crafted with pride. ☕We had the opportunity to chat with Jonathan, the head barista and roaster of their coffee-beans. Separately running the coffee show under a different name (Bayan Coffee Roasters), Jonathan has come up with favourites by locals who often come by just to purchase their roasted beans. As you enter Yin's Sourdough, you will notice that just next door, their roastery is going on full pursuit, roasting their coffee beans to perfection. Many blends come from them, such as their signature Pinang blend. Bayan Coffee Roasters offers training as well for upcoming baristas. I've been to Yin's Sourdough thrice already and am loving the experience.

Nice Cafe. Very good sandwiches, lots of filling, tasty and well-balanced. The bread didn't really come through in the flavors, which I had expected from a place with sourdough in the name. Not a bad thing as I always profess bread is simply a delivery method. Bread was not the hero but rather the filings. Just that I expected a little more from the bread. Comfortable surrounds. Nice little Cafe. However, it was rather expensive. Two sandwiches, a coffee, and a couple of smoothes almost hit the 100RM. Homemade luncheon meat a star. Must try.

Ordered Egg Benny Pizza, Chicken Burger with Special Sauce, and a cup of hot cappuccino for lunch. Egg Benny Pizza is a must order food as the bread texture is soft and taste is good. The sourdough burger is a perfect match with chicken patty. Coffee is aromatic too.
