I’m
not
often
on
the
island,
so
when
I
had
the
opportunity
to
try
this
patisserie…
I
thought
it
would
be
a
shame
to
not
try
as
much
as
possible!
First
off,
parking
was
a
pain
-
as
expected
in
this
part
of
Penang.
The
shop
itself
was
comfortable
enough
in
that
it
was
air
conditioned,
and
the
staff
were
quite
attentive.
I
did
find
the
atmosphere
a
little
cramped
and
crowded
though.
A
good
place
for
a
quick
coffee
and
cake,
but
not
a
place
I
would
sit
for
a
long,
relaxing
coffee.
The
food
was
pretty
good
overall.
Nice
French
pastry
of
the
kind
that
can
be
hard
to
find
on
the
mainland.
Everything
was
well
presented
and
made,
but
nothing
blew
me
away.
I
enjoyed
the
kouign-amann,
though
it
was
the
first
time
I’ve
had
one
so
don’t
have
much
of
a
point
of
reference.
A
little
sweet
for
some
perhaps,
but
just
about
right
for
me.
The
lemon
basil
tart
had
a
lovely
crisp
pastry
and
a
quite
strong
basil
flavour
-
a
bit
too
strong
for
me,
but
it
does
what
it
says
on
the
tin
so
I
can
hardly
complain.
It
was
beautifully
made.
The
Mont
Blanc
was
okay.
The
almond
croissant
was
nice
enough,
though
I
honestly
think
the
ones
you
can
get
in
Waitrose
supermarkets
in
the
UK
are
better.
Finally,
the
canele.
Any
shop
that
sells
these
gets
points
in
my
book.
An
under-appreciated
pastry
that
is
not
easy
to
find
in
your
average
bakery.
The
canele
was
reasonably
well
made,
though
I’ve
had
better.
Unfortunately,
they
only
had
the
matcha
flavour
left…
I’m
sure
I
would’ve
enjoyed
original
more.
All
in
all,
a
nice
little
patisserie.
Perhaps
3.5
stars.
I
don’t
think
you’ll
go
too
far
wrong
with
anything
you
choose
here,
though
for
my
money,
I’d
rather
go
to
La
Vie
En
Rose
on
Lebuh
Melayu
where
the
food
and
environment
are
just
that
little
bit
better.
